A.N. This is the promised continuation of a poem I posted about a week ago! It's titled: In the Midst of Darkness! If you haven't read it yet, I'd appreciate all the helpful insight you may have! Okay! Enjoy! ;)
The darkness around me suddenly prepares for an attack.
Scared and helpless, I take a step back.
I'm lonely, my only friend is my empty, longing heart,
And this threatening darkness is tearing me apart.
I turn around and look back at the path I abandoned,
And I wonder to myself: Why did I let this happen.
A streak of light suddenly appears, piercing through the night,
I have a feeling that everything is going to be all right.
A glimmer of hope now burns in my soul, fueling my wit.
It gives me courage, and I take a step towards it.
The light shines brighter,
And the air seems lighter.
I walk bravely back into the hopeful, joyous light.
When I look around myself, I no longer see the death of night
I spread my arms, wishing for wings to fly.
I no longer wish to die.
The gentle breeze caresses my hair,
I look into the light, finally without a care.

DO NOT LOSE HOPE~
Ah, yes, as there is always a ray of hope emerging from the Midst of Darkness. Now, onto my review. How does my intro go again? Ah, yes!
Gummy's the name, reviewing's my game! Tonight, I'm reviewing Into The Light, the sequel to In The Midst of Darkness--which I also reviewed--by the same talented mind of blimeylimey27!
Now, let me start by saying that the imagery and the theme are just as strong here as they were in this piece's predecessor. So, yeah, no need to worry about one piece outshining the other! Now, there's one thing that separates this piece from its sister...
The last line I stressed so much about in the other poem... It's not here. Since there's no despair to feel because the lines look similar to their partners... I feel hopeful! Since this is what the piece intended to convey, I'll give you props for this too!
Finally, I want to explain something that slipped my mind while I was reviewing In The Midst of Darkness. You can shorten some of the lines to condense the feeling expressed in them while retaining the reader's attention for a longer period of time. I'll just leave that point there so you can consider it, but it's your style and your call, after all.
And that's it! I hope to read more of your works in the near future, and as always, take care! Remember, practice is the key!
Hi, blimy! This was seriously a wonderful poem and I loved it! I loved the way you described all the emotions- this was very, very well portrayed. I also loved the rhyming because it did not sound forced at all. Infact this is one of the most well- rhymed poem I have ever read. My favourite lines would be:
"I'm lonely, my only friend is my empty, longing heart,
And this threatening darkness is tearing me apart."
Another line I loved would be:
"The light shines brighter,
And the air seems lighter."
One pair of lines I thought didn't rhyme or sounded forced:
"I turn around and look back at the path I abandoned,
And I wonder to myself: Why did I let this happen."
Also "Why did I let this happen." is a question thus needs a question mark.
Overall: i loved this poem and hope to read more of your work.

This was very touching, my favorite part is here when you say:

turn around and look back at the path I abandoned,
And I wonder to myself: Why did I let this happen.
A streak of light suddenly appears, piercing through the night,
I have a feeling that everything is going to be all right.
A glimmer of hope now burns in my soul, fueling my wit.
It gives me courage, and I take a step towards it.
The light shines brighter,
And the air seems lighter.
I especially like this part because of how it seems to show a revelation. How better things come up. I love how the imagery works throughout the poem.
However, I think that if there was a better rhyme scheme, it would be even better. Please keep up the work. Great job
Thank you so much for the review!
Hello Blimey, I am here to review your wonderful poem in continuation of your other one. First, I will start with what I really loved and why I loved it so much. I really loved your use of imagery, for example, :A streak of light suddenly appears, piercing through the night" I thought this was brilliant, because it really showed the emotion the character was feeling here. It was a troubling time, but now we see a glimmering of some hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel. My personal favorite line is, "I'm lonely, my only friend is my empty, longing heart" it really showed the emotion of being alone, and just feeling utterly defeated. The only thing I would suggest is to make the ending a bit more clear, it seemed kind of sudden, and the last line felt kind of forced. Although, it could stay there, I think it could be changed and made a bit more beautiful. But overall excellent job on this poem. Keep writing!

Thank you so much! I will work on it! Glad you enjoyed it!
