Those Overlapping Tales

In Poetry

It almost seems that nothing has changed.
Are we different for our separation? Perhaps,
perhaps stronger, perhaps fonder.
But, like books, we are taken from the shelves and opened,
to a page we both recall, shared in
those overlapping tales.

And so we start again,
on the same page, but aren’t we always?
We do go on, this I know,
for we still write, words that, like us, won’t give up so easily.
They have too much to tell, to add to
those overlapping tales.

And, with each touch passed again, each kiss shared
after long absence, the words come easier.
They return to me, having given up with my
abandonment of you. Those words I wasted, unwritten and unspoken
I only wish to have them now, to be in
those overlapping tales.

Hey there! joallover here for a review on this wonderful Review Day for team Mazarine Marauders!
You do like writing about love, don't you? You said it in your description, and it is definitely shown in the way you express it in words.
I honestly can't say much in the criticism department, you have written this superbly. I can say what I enjoyed though!
I adored the reference to books on a shelf. How the stories are what leads you two together and the title fits so well. Just the words 'overlapping tales' makes the whole poem!

"And, with each touch passed again, each kiss shared
after long absence, the words come easier.
They return to me, having given up with my
abandonment of you."

This has got to be one of my favorite lines in this. They are perfectly expressed, the love comes in loud and clear. Especially, the last line, "They return to me, having given up with my
abandonment of you." I would not have been able to think of how to word that so well. Bravo, you have earned my admiration.
That's all I have to say for now. Keep calm and write on! You've got talent!
Peace Love and Fahrvergnugen!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. Haha, I do, and I have several more love-y poems if ever you need a pick me up. Thanks again!

Hey there! How are you, today? Purple here to give you a review! Let's get started.
I really like this! It's a creative way to show people as books and similarities as their "overlapping" stories and words.
A few nitpicks:
"for we still write, words that, like us, won’t give up so easily."
A lot of commas and little phrases in here that could be avoided. Maybe edit to something like "for we still write those words
alike to us, that refuse to give up so easily"

"They return to me, having given up with my
abandonment of you. Those words I wasted, unwritten and unspoken"
A little sloppy in format. Try
"They return to me, having given up
my abandonment of you.
Those words I wasted, unwritten and unspoken"

Other than that, this was great! I'm looking forward to hear more from you and have a nice day!

wow, its such a lovely poem. I love the analogy, its such pure genius. My favourite line is:
But, like books, we are taken from the shelves and opened,
to a page we both recall, shared in
those overlapping tales.
Its depth is just amazing. The poem its confusing just like how a relationship is. I dont know what you had wanted to pass across but for me, i picked up the overlapping tales of happiness and sadness in a relationship. And even though its so complicate, we usually want to write new chapters in the book and refuse to give in the the end of the story. I myself have experienced such a relationship and for me, this poem describes it exceptionally well.
Well, even as the poem is exceptionally wonderful and relatable, i do have a bone to pick with the organisation of the lines in each stanza. More of an opinion really, but i think that stanza one would have stood out more like this...

It almost seems that nothing has changed.
Are we different for our separation?
Perhaps...
Perhaps stronger, perhaps fonder.
But like books, we are taken from the shelves and opened.
Opened to a page we both recall.
Shared,
in those overlapping tales.

then the other verses follow suite. Anyway, i loved the poem and the poet usually knows best.

Don't let fear keep you from some amazing opportunities.
