Gratefulness.
One word, but a million examples of how we don't show it.
.
As you sat on the bus this morning
and thought to complain about all the things that aren't perfect in your eyes,
a three year old dies by starvation in Africa.
.
As the singing children in India praise the one above for the sake that they woke up today,
all you can think about is how you don't want to go to school, it's too much work.
.
Instead, you choose to think about the few things that make your incredible life
a milligram less incredible.
.
And the million curse words you sputtered at your mom yesterday,
and the kid you bullied your past in the hall,
and the dinner you refused to eat because it was gross,
and your dead iPhone,
and your so called friends,
and the air you breathe,
the water you drink,
and your still ever beating ungrateful heart keeps pumping blood through your body,
you're unaware of the good, bad, and ungrateful that fills your life.
.
I then ask you this:
If the bad isn't really all that bad anymore,
then the things we call good really aren't either,
right?
.
Beyond your own life, the world is falling to pieces.
The least you could do, you've already turned down.
.
Gratefulness, I tell you, is your own biggest fear.

Hello musicandme! Unknown391625 here with another review!
I honestly believe that this is extremely true. If you have a family that loves you, a few good friends, food on the table and a roof over your head, you are richer than you think. This little story or poem reminds you that you should be grateful for what you have. This is very powerful and amazing. If you have a few good things, enjoy those things. I just absolutely love it! I am super glad you asked me to review this! Don't give up and always write, musicandme!

Thanks so much!!
Heyy!!
So, the beginning line was what dragged me in!
Exactly! My first thoughts. So many people don't realize that ungratefulness can be shown by a simple, "thanks". But, they don't bother to take that two seconds out of their day!
The second stanza almost made me tear up! I never realized that complaining is so useless..well, I knew it down in my heart of hearts, but, somehow, it just never seemed to bubble up to the surface..
In stanza 5, on the 4th line, you don't need the extra 'the'.
Wow! That ending two stanzas were POWERFUL and emotional! It really makes me think and are really thought provoking statements!
Great job! You really got your point across!
Keep on writing!!,

Someone finally understands me!
You made me cry inside, that was beautiful and wow! It was full of amazing emotion, and well I loved it, there was nothing at fault, if you also read that listening to music, wow. That was perfectly amazingly awesomely inspiring, and I loved it!

Wow, thanks^1000000000!!!! I'm so glad you liked this! I just had to write this, I think about this fact every day. And you are most welcome! I got the inspiration from an African children's choir that visited my school this morning. The little girl, about 6, took the microphone and told us how she loved her life so much. She then read us a bible verse and prayed for us. I literally almost sobbed, I couldn't believe this little girl who has nothing to her name just prayed for me and my struggles. Wow, it just blew me away.
Oh, and if listened to "Take Me to Church" while writing this and it made me even more fueled to make it was the poem ended up as.
That would explain it, but thankyou again!
