The Send Off

by UrbanNomad

Finally collapsed over the bed
well dissolved, well worn in-
or worn down if have you.

A night sky fittingly lit
with apocalyptic flashes from the hell
I do not believe in-
yes, many godless thoughts
run through my working mind.

Thinking of that trip to the mainland
where granite like curtain waves
surges the other granite peaks, speaking
words of stability I once followed-
Things go and fall and leave.

The matter I think matters most
is trusting in oneself. My
last ideas of this place
are of being young
and ironically pure. Untouchable.

Knowing now how much I am myself:

always have been,
throughout the years.

Dear UrbanNomad,

You bring to us a beautiful tale of one who has grown up through the years and has figured out things about not just the world but as well themselves. Some of these facts are things that completely destroy all of his former beliefs as a child when he was young, innocent, and untouched by such complex thoughts that he holds onto now. I find this poem to be both a fantastic personal monologue and a fate that I’m sure many shares; I know I am one of those individuals. I can’t wait to read another poem crafted by your sharp mind in the future.

Sincerely,
The A
