Heat of Heroism

Warning: This work has been rated 16+.

I scared away the horses in your fables
my stinky breath blew away the stables
I don't even know who I am anymore.

Fear me child, you make me drain
my guts into my tiny brain
I don't even know who I am anymore.

Come closer
The sun, my shiny eyeball
Come closer
Feel how it burns when you're being looked at.

They ruined my fables
Shattered my stables
Now I know who I am.

My body is fragile, sensibile to touch
Being fearless costs too much
Now I know who I am.

Display of power
Ruined vision of life
Never took a look at it, never turned around...

Just burned.

I really like the lucid, light-headed feeling of the poem. The emphasis added by the italics is especially fitting. Though I can't exactly make sense of what is going on in the poem, I suppose that that's part of the dreamy illusion you intended to paint. The stanza "They ruined my fables/ Shattered my stables/ Now I know who I am" was exceptional. It was simple, to the point, and haunting-- reminds me of Poe! Good job, I really enjoyed puzzling over this.

This poem kind of confused me... but I liked it anyways! Haha I enjoy reading things that make me think more so that's always a good thing to have! Good job on the poem, the only thing I would suggest is to make the topic more understanding just to give a better understanding to your readers. I also like the tone and mood of this poem as well, it's very interesting. I look forward to reading more from you! Good job!

HEY! I really enjoyed reading your poem primarily because it created a whole bunch of thoughts in the back of my mind. Every thing that I thought about while reading this poem related to me. I had everything from events that took place throughout my life to quotes that I had heard before and really enjoyed. This is one of those poems that can bring across a wide variety of morals and messages and everything that the readers sees and thinks while reading it, entirely depends on there personality because this is a topic that relates to everyone. ANYWAYS, here I go blabbing on and on again. You're probably bored so I will be concise. LOVED IT! Loved pretty much everything about it and as for flaws........ NONE! Please keep writing! I really want to read more of your work :)

I also, like the other reviewer have... no idea what this poem is about! But as your description of it suggests, maybe it's supposed to be sort of interpretive. I feel like it has sort of an Odyssey sort of mythology feel, with the cyclops, and the bumbling monster at the beginning, and then contrasting a very fragile and scared creature in the 2nd to last stanza. I also see the power struggle, in this poem you show how sometimes you have to let go of your power of others to achieve the power of yourself.

I have to say, as an overall idea I really like this sort of abstract poem, I've always wanted to write something like that more abstract than concrete, I think it's the nobelest form of poetry in my opinion, because anyone can make sense from something logical, but it takes a true artist to make something un-logical that people can find sense in. And I think you're on the road to that.

So onto my suggestions!
You do a great job, of bringing the similar theme of burning, and kind of an old sort of legend feel when you talk about the sun and stables throughout the poem, but I think it could be more. I really think this all needs to be extended I think the contrast you have is really great, but I think you can develop it more, by adding some figurative language, and add a few more exciting, unique adjectives.

Only problem as far as spelling that I saw was in this line: "Being fearless costs to much" 'to' should be "too". I think in the line before that one you might have meant "sensitive" instead of "sensible"..

Thank you for posting, and I hope you post a lot more like this! Good luck in all of your future writing!

I really liked your poem.

It kind of leaves the reader to think about it anyway they want to.

I know thats the point of the whole thing but it would be better if you added a little bit more explanation.

I loved the part where it's like

"They ruined my fables
Shattered my stables
Now I know who I am."

I think it's really smart, I don't know why...

okay I'm not good at reviewing but i love your poem, thats all! :)

Wow! Very interesting poem. I liked it a lot.
I do have to ask a question.

What is this poem..about exactly?

It sounds like perhaps it was about the Colorado burning..? I am not completely sure, but that tis my guess.
I am not very good at reviews, but I can say that you did an excellent job with words, intriguing and unusual. Perhaps you.. and maybe its me, could add a bit more explanation, just a little?
Thank you for the read! I liked it a lot! :) And its probably just my sense of not being able to understand. In that case, please ignore my stupidity.

Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions. What do you assume?
