I Wish This Was A Goodbye

I wish this was a goodbye,
But I need to see you again.
I wish I could let you go,
But you are woven too tightly throughout my heart.
To cut myself away would be too painful.

But is it more painful to stay,
More painful to see you with her?
You make her smile, she makes you laugh.
Two people dancing in sunlight,
While I sit in the shade of my hurt.

I'm being hopelessly selfish.
You never loved me.
Who am I to stand in the way
Of you being happy,
Of you loving and being loved?

They say that time heals
Even the most aching heartbreak,
That in time, you will fade from my eyes,
And I will be whole again.
But maybe I don't want to be healed.

I don't want to say goodbye.
I don't want to let go.
But even I cannot stop the world
From spinning the night into day.
I pray I will never have to say goodbye.

wow this was really good! i give you props for expressing your feelings really good. it fell like i was you pretty creepy but good. In your next work i say you can rhyme more? but other than that i enjoyed it, it is something i can really relate to and i really liked it. Hope ican see more of your work. :)

I hate goodbyes too mostly when its someone i care about or love. It hurts so much but is sometimes the best thing to do. I love the ending where you wrote "I don't want to say goodbye. I don't want to let go. But even I cannot stop the world From spinning the night into day. I pray I will never have to say goodbye" It describes me so much and how i be feeling.

This was simply amazing. Reading through it I didn't see any mistakes that jumped out at me. The flow of it was beautiful and feeling.. struck my heart. I think this a poem that a lot of people can relate to, and you wrote it wonderfully. You have so much feeling in it, so much imagery. Even though the painted scene was quite painful, it still took my breath away with its beauty. Splendid. Well done. Please, please, keep writing. You're a mastermind.

This wasn't much of review, as it was me complimenting your work, but you simply left me with nothing to critique on. Again, well done. :)

Hey Rarity, StoryWeaver here to review! So I tend to warn people before I review anything involving poetry or romance; seeing as this just so happens to encompass both, I'll tell you that this review will likely be a harsh one, but only out of my sincere desire to help. :]

Anyway, my problem with this poem is the same that I have with most love poems; it is cliche, the metaphors are weak, and the tone is verging on whiny or moping. If you are going to write about love you have to make it authentic, unique, and your own. Nothing is more important in a love poem than an implied, in-depth identity.

As I said, I review love poems harshly. This isn't meant to be offensive and honestly, this poem is far from the worst I've seen. Just remember to go beyond the typical boundaries of angst-ridden love poems and truly find a way to put your own spin on this concept.

Keep writing, and best wishes. xxx
