Child of the Night

In Poems

Child of the night,

Forget the Technicolor day,

Full of noise and confusion

And reality.

Child of the night,

Steal away in bed,

Sleeping the day away,

Joining the world when the sun falls,

And the moon ascends its throne.

Creatures of the day fear the

Black, black night.

Pity the creatures of the day,

For their eyes were not made

To see the wonder of the dark.

Child of the night,

Your kaleidoscope eyes see

The night as it is.

Your eyes see through the veil

Of Fear, Superstition, and the Unknown.

Child of the night,

Enter your Kingdom.

The Stars take their place beneath your feet

And around your head

Guiding your steps and your mind through the dark.

Child of the night,

Daughter of the moon,

Draw the twinkling cloak of the sky around your shoulders

And don the moonbeam’s crown of silver thread.

Child of the night,

Live in your World,

A world where Simplicity and Innocence are your companions,

And Imagination is the air your lungs crave.

Child of the night,

The Shadows are fleeing,

The dark is fading fast.

The Kingdom of Night melts into the Dawn of Day,

But fear not child for the dark is as constant as the light that chases it away.

I LOVE IT!!!! This is sooo beautifully written! I really like how well you write about being a part of the darkness. It makes the dark seem a little less scary. Not only do you write about the dark, but you also manage to speak about the light and you somehow bring the light in as a part of the darkness in this line:

"Child of the night,

Daughter of the moon,

Draw the twinkling cloak of the sky around your shoulders

And don the moonbeam’s crown of silver thread."

This is my favorite part of the entire piece.

Great Job and Keep it up! :)

Hello there, Kat here to write a review for you on review day!

I love the title :)
Isn't the last line a little confusing? Could it be re worded ? I get what you mean by light and drk are equal but perhaps you could emphasis the darknes a little more in that line...but amazing imagery! I could see a little child and all his thoughts of the world and how he truly relishes in the ark and night and how that is his expression and his freedome and it was really one of the best poems I have read in a long time. I'm not usully a fan of long poems... to many words haha but I loved your's a lot. I really liked how you kept repeating child of the night throughout the poem but didn't do it so much that it becme over bearing and tiresome. Another thig I really liked was how you sort of personified that darkness and the moon by giving it children and other stuff like that and how you described the sky as the child's cloak it really made me feel the happiness this child feels from the darkness... and one more thing I thought it was very interesting how you went from very blandly describing the child's feelings for the day time to more in depth about the night time to really bring out your ideas in this piece. I'm not in a very critical nit picky mood so I will leave it at that, nice job and I look forward to reading more from you.

Happy review day and keep writing

I have to say, that this is one of the best poems I've ever read.
It's so...well thought.
I can tell that you but a lot of thinking into your work, and it was time well spent.
There's nothing I can find that needs nitpicking, because this is perfect.
I really just love it.
Everything seemed to flow well together, and the words you used...beautiful.
I would have to say that my favorite line was:
"Child of the night,

Daughter of the moon,

Draw the twinkling cloak of the sky around your shoulders

And don the moonbeam’s crown of silver thread."

Just because it all works, and it's just amazing.
I can't exactly find all of my words...sorry. xD
But this is really, really good.

Hey there, review time!

Okay, first and foremost, I really liked this.

Before I begin complimenting you, one bit stuck out as not flowing quite right.

"And the moon ascends its throne"
Maybe I'm just reading it differently than you wrote it, but I just feel like it would carry a better rhythm if it said that the moon ascends TO its throne.

Other than that, I loved everything about this. I loved your use of abstract nouns, comparing Simplicity and Innocence to companions, and Imagination to air (That would really be a perfect world, one where you could just breath in imagination and always be accompanied by innocence and simplicity)

I also love the phrase "Technicolor day"

The use of "kaleidoscope eyes" is awesome, especially if it's an allusion to The Beatles.

Finally, the way you concluded it was beautiful. That final sentence was so great, and it just all felt very tied together and complete.

Breathtaking poem, keep it up!

Thanks! Much appreciated.

I wondered why we put villains in our stories when we have plenty of them in real life; then I realized that maybe we wanted stories where the good guy wins.
