The Forest

PreviousNext

he reached for the forest

with a desperate hope

a simple plea

a final wish

it reached back

slowly

but

surely

as it always does

soft moss

sprouts along his chest

long vines

encircle his waist

dark grass

cradles his limbs

green leaves

cover his eyes

it will grow

as it always does

and he will grow

along with it

Hello pal! I have one question before I start-du u know da wey?

Ok, in all seriousness I really liked this poem, especially for the vague prompt that we used :p

I really liked the imagery in your third stanza, but I feel that it's kind of rushed. I kept re-reading it hoping to find some more, but I never really found it, you know? I feel like you could have done more with it if you hadn't focused on making every line the same-ish length (if that makes sense?). I still really liked the picture you painted there, and I wouldn't worry to much about it.

What an ending, 10/10 last stanza!

I liked the way you used broken fragments. It's an artistic choice that I personally think suited this poem, because it helped make it almost dreamlike, like little snapshots of this man succumbing to the forest.

Overall, I really liked this poem! You should write poetry more often, I would love to read more from you. Your imagery and style in this poem were great, and I really enjoyed reading it. Keep writing!

Hello PeijiRestoration,

I, for one, loved this poem. To me, it represents, going with the flow, and letting fate takes its course. {But every reader's view is different, so I don't know if that's what you actually intended. :) }

Also, I loved how you used sound devices such as alliteration, assonance, and consonance to make the poem flow better. The pacing was good, too. This was so easy and pleasant to read, I love it.

I don't know if you meant to make it this way, but you have a lot of uncapitalized words that are supposed to be capitalized. But if you actually meant it this way, that's fine. It actually makes it look better.

Great job!

Thank you! And yes, the uncapitalized words were intentional. And that is a wonderful interpretation. I didn't really think about it that way! :)

I think this was, no, is a great piece of work. Especially for the prompt in the club. :)
The verses move very freely and it just fits together, like a puzzle piece. I hope to hear more of these from you.

Thank you, I'll definitely keep trying to write!

Hi hi I am here for a quick moment and to say hi. HI.
Anyways this is a review of your poem and in all aspects I like it. To me it seems like it has a little bit of darkness to it but also as if it is the aspect of a tree who has been in the forest for a long time. The fact that it seems like it is about a tree makes it all the better to me at least. So all in all its a good poem and I see nothing wrong with it at all and good work. I hope you have a good time and have fun writing keep up the good work and remember have fun.

Thank you! And I love your interpretation of it being about a tree. I never thought about that! :)

You're welcome and I honestly thought it was about a tree as if you compared a tree to a person it honestly sounds like it's about a tree

Yeah originally I was just going for a guy sort of "becoming one with the forest" so I guess that could be interpreted as his corpse decaying (gruesome!) or him becoming a tree, which is honestly a whole lot better lol

Still though I think the tree was the easiest one to come up with but the idea of becoming a tree doesn't sound too bad either

Yeah, your's makes more sense lol

That's just how it comes off to me though I have no clue about anyone else
