When you lose someone what do you do?
When it's hard to make a smile
Make a laugh
Pretend that you're alright
Pretend that everything's the same
When in truth nothing is
Or ever will be
When you lose someone what do you say to those that still remain?
When you're trying your hardest to smile for them
Laugh for them
Make yourself happy just for them
But in all actuality all you want to do is hide
Crawl under the covers
Bury yourself in your sorrows
And leave the world
Before someone else walks away
What do you do when you lose someone?
That person that you cared about more than anything
That friend that you'd take a bullet for
Protect
Stand up for
Get yelled at for
Break the law for
What do you do when you lose someone?
How do you deal with the pain?
The pain of being left in the dust
Giving a choice and refusing to make it
Standing so far behind but wanting to catch up
Catch up with reality
If it meant that reality would bring an end to the hurt and the heartbreak
How do you deal with the pain?
But this is reality
This is the world that's left to me
Given to me
This is the life that I have left
After losing one of the girls that I never thought would abandon me
After opening myself up and explaining my world
This is reality
What do you do after losing someone?
After being left in the dust like yesterdays trash
After feeling like you are unimportant and unloved
After feeling like nothing that you say or do will ever mean a thing
What do you do after losing someone?
Tell me
How do you pick up the pieces?
How do you make everything okay again?
Or do you continue to walk around in a haze
Trying to remind yourself that you're no longer friends
All the while being broken a little more each day
A little more each time
I can't pretend any longer that I'm okay
Because pretending is breaking my heart
Pretending is making me bury those emotions
Keep them hostage
Locked away in my heart
Hidden from human eyes
But destroying me
Turning me
Killing me a little more each day
Losing someone hurts like nothing else
It leaves you full of so many questions
So many thoughts
It leaves you empty
Leaves you hurting
Leaves you broken and bleeding
Losing someone hurts like nothing else
Especially when there was something that you could have done
A choice that you could have made
Something that you could have said
To make that person stay in your life
But instead you're left watching them walk away
Watching them become smaller in your vision
Knowing that if they looked back
They'd see you crying
Crying out their name
Crying out in pain
Crying
Crying
Crying
Losing someone hurts more than anything
Because everything else isn't causing you this pain

This is a very deep poem. I really enjoyed it and found that I could almost relate to the feeling being expressed in it. You clearly have a lot of talent when it comes to writing and you are very aware of the setting out of stanzas.

I found that the way the poem was in set stanzas it was much easier to read and flowed REALLY well.
I appreciated the grammar and correct spelling in it too.
You are incredibly talented and I really enjoyed reading this piece of writing.
I look forward to reading more by you.
Happy writing!
I really enjoyed this piece. There was great detail in each stanza of explaining the pain and the what you want to do, versus what you do/should do. I believe that the explaining and the detail really brings the pain home. Anyone could relate to this, or at least feel the pure sadness it brings. This is a sad, but beautifully written poem. I also would like to comment on the way it was ended. Completely brilliant. It ends with such a truthful point. Reading through it, you're focusing on the fact that you're upset because of the loss of a loved one, and it truly is that loss that is the reason you are so upset and broken if you will. Brilliant, simply brilliant.
