Silence

In General Poetry - Ancient Era (teenage years)

The sounds are fading
Drifting back into nothingness
Like the moments of yesterday
That we let slip by

Silence

And in that stillness
I hear what we try to drown out
And hide

“Who am I?
What am I here for?
Does anyone care?
Am I anything at all?”

The thoughts we can never forget
But refuse to remember
And in this quiet solitude
I hear them clearly

This silence
Is truly
Deafening

The last stanza was rather cliche, but since your poem was sort of an explanation for the cliched (if you even understand what I'm trying to say) "Silence can be deafening", all is forgiven! Good job!

Really good. Didn't care for the last stanza and the line "Silence" though. They're both rather abrupt and seem to just detract from the poem.

But, I liked it a lot all the same.

Interesting :D The third stanza I had to read a couple of times for it to fit in, but apart from that I really like the idea. Good job!
