Confessions of a Book-O-Holic

Books' day, books night

Who could have ever thought?

Reading could become my life.

~

Hours after hours,

lines after lines

Books are like a drug for me

It keeps me alive, It keeps me going.

~

Reading is a haven for me, a refuge.

All the fictional characters a family.

And it’s just because of them,

that I never feel lonely.

It’s true that people may consider me weird

But that’s what I call being a book nerd.

~

My mom always keeps saying

“Why don’t you take a break from reading?”

And even though I consider it sometimes

I can never do it

Because whom am I kidding?

I’m a book-o-holic

And I regret nothing.

~

For me this is one of the not so long poems but there are a lot of good this about it when you sayed that books were like drugs it shows how good books can be even bad books or poems.

Hello,hello there,fangirl!
Here for a short review but I hope still helpful!

Anyways for this review I just want to tell you for several mistakes that are in this work and my opinion about it as whole.

I hope I do not say too many negative jazz about this work because I like the idea of it!
So the first thing that I saw was this line:

"Books day, books night"

I think it sould be something like this:
"Books' day, books' night."

If we talk about 'the day of the books' then it needs to be like that.At least I understood it this way.

"~"

for this element of seperation I will just say good choice because I adore it

"Hours after hours"

and

"Lines after lines"

these two are the lines bothering me here
I would recomment you to put comma after the first line and fullstop after the second to finish it

"Books are like a drug for me"

maybe only a comma in the end?
only option though

"It keeps me alive

It keeps me going."

for this part I could only say to put a comma after the first line to connect them and start the second line with a small letter..or make them seperated sentences with a fullstop afterthe first one

"I can never do it"
only a comma in the end

I think the mistakes are really small and not affect the work in a bad negative way.
I like that you had added the line where your mother is in.A bit of a change.Only slight grammar mistakes is all I see.But with that put aside, everything else is amazing. Also, this is the firts time I see pictures above the work so something different for me to check.

well i guess i should pay more attention in "english" class...but seriously thank you! ;)

Hello! Fandomsnmusic here for a semi-short review!

Okay, first off, where's Divergent? Who can't take a picture of books and not include Divergent/Percy Jackson/Lunar Chronicles and all the great books! I love the stack anyway. xD This poem is going to get quoted up and put somewhere. I don't know where yet, but somewhere. I might just frame it and put it on my wall. This poem can relate so well to so many people! I should make it my motto, "Who am I kidding? I'm a Book-O-Holic and I regret nothing!" I just love this poem so much. I can't even find words to describe how totally radicle I think this is. :D

It's so great, I have absolutely-positutely nothing to change! IloveitIloveitIloveit!

Keep writing amazing things!
fandomsnmusic

Well I don't actally own that many books, I read them on my tab. And as for that picture up there it is from pinterest. I don't even know why I used it, I haven't read any of Harry potter books even... Anyway I'm glad that you liked my work ;)

Yolo peoples!!!! LadyRanicorn here for another amazing review!!!!!!!! I. Love. This. POEM!!!! I feel exactly the same way when I'm reading whether its a fictional novel, or a awesome poem, like the one I just read!!!XD I really enjoyed how you compared books to a drug, it really lets the reader know just HOW MUCH you are addicted to reading. I also enjoyed that you put in your MOTHERS point of view towards your addiction to reading.

You be welcome, Dauntless!!!!!!

Hey there fangirldivergent46. It's just lizzy dropping by real quick, so without a further ado, let the reviewing begin.

1. This is quite the topic you chose to write about. Whenever I write poems concerning fandoms, I always talk about the particular book, instead of the emotions gathered from it. For emotions I am referring to those times where you can switch from joy to depression in an instant. Especially for four of the titles in the picture and from what I have heard the book in your user name. I mean technically I did read the first book in that series so I know some of the heartbreak that went down. This is also something that many of us on this site can relate to and I think that is why I actually liked it.

2. There are a couple of parts I think need a little bit of rewording starting with this set.

Books day books night

Who could have ever thought?

Reading could become my life.

This certainly describes a very real situation but the first line doesn't sound quite right to me, like it is missing a comma. I believe that the comma needs to go here in the line.
Books day, books night

That may not be grammatically correct, I'm never sure how to apply grammar to poems, but when you talk aloud a pause is needed.

3. Then came along the other parts that I wanted to break down line by line.
Reading is a haven for me, a refuge.

All the fictional characters a family.

And it’s just because of them,

that I never feel lonely.

It’s true that people may consider me weird

But that’s what I call being a nerd.

-It's the 3rd and 4th lines in this set that got to me because I had a completely different opinion. So yes, we have that family for the three or four hundred pages of that book or until we reach the end of the story, but what next. Then we sink back into depression for them killing of our favorite characters. Insert cries of pain for Hedwig. We have to pick ourselves back up and move on to face another book with another saddening ending. I guess this is how you could say it was an addiction because no matter how much it hurt us we just kept reading. No matter how much sleep we lost or ruined our vision, we would never stop.

-Nerd also has some negative connotations which throws off the entire piece. When I think nerd, I think the stereotypical nerd with a pocket protector and taped glasses. Book nerd however gives a completely different idea. You've still got the taped glasses but the pocket protector has been replaced by a book. You may want to reconsider your word choice there.

4. Well that's about all I have for this review. Sorry it was so short but this was a short piece. Anyways have a nice day.

thanx a lot izzy. i'll make sure i edit the required.

hey bestie!!
so this poem is really connected to me and everyone here! and my name itself suggests the title!
i am very impressed by the line
My mom always keeps saying

“Why don’t you take a break from reading?”
because this happens with me too. LOL.
though it is not necessary but just a suggestion that you should adobt a rhyming scheme as adds sense of expression in your poem..
like here
Hours after hours

Lines after lines

Books are like a drug for me

It keeps me alive

It keeps me going.
in the end "it keeps me going"
as a reader i found this incomplete because i was waiting for another line to come!!
though as you know there is always a scope for improving and the best thing is improving together!!
at the end, i really likes the sense and the meaning expressed by each flowing word!
keep writing!!
~bookoholic22

as if you are gonna let me quit writing.lol. anyway thanx for the review. guess I'll see you around.

true i won't let you quit writing!
