We raced to the sunrise
You let me win
We ran on the edge of the sea
Splashing, laughing
I held your hand and we saw
The sky turn bright blue
We stood in the sand
Watching the clouds pass by
The sun ascended, high noon
Warmed the air
We waded in the ocean
Trying to keep cool
We laid blankets on the hot sand
Read next to each other
The afternoon faded into
A soft and quiet evening
The sun fell past the horizon
But, you stopped smiling
The air chilled, colder than
It was this morning
The sky turned blue, then black
I don’t know what I did
To make you so melancholy
Do you love me anymore?
But when we went to say goodbye
“What’s wrong?” I had to ask
You offered a bittersweet smile
You said, “I’m sad today is over.”
Me too.
But we still have tomorrow.

Hey There!!!! here for a quick review ...!!!
Truly marvellous poem that signifies the importance of spending beautiful times with loved ones and never regretting and always feeling grateful and contented....
To experience the most pleasing sunsets and breathtaking sunrises with ones who make your time fly...To have someone with you enjoy the blissful nature's spirit and make times too memorable to have lasted .....
In short a poem that would be endlessly appealing to all nature and romantic poets!!!:)
Thank you for the review!
Something about this poem leaves me breathless. It's short and basic, but beautiful. I love the use of language which works well in a poem. I loved this, and I'm looking forward to reading more.
I'm glad you liked it ^-^
Really good job on the poem. You use great structure, and you do a great job conveying what both of the characters feel for each other. My favorite part is the second to last stanza.
"But when we went to say goodbye
“What’s wrong?” I had to ask
You offered a bittersweet smile
You said, “I’m sad today is over.”"
Time is such an important thing, because we only have so much of it in our life, and when you only have so much left you find out what's most important. Spending it with people you love and doing things that are important. When you never want a day to end you know that you did it right, I'm not sure if that makes sense to you, anyway that why it my favorite part.
Overall I really liked this poem, you convey everything so perfectly. Can't wait to read what you write next!

Hi, thanks for the review. I'm really glad you enjoyed the poem and I really appreciate your insight on time (and you phrased it beautifully).
i reaally like this poem! it has super good structure and you can tell you're trying to convey the strong feelings you and her both have for eachother. my only advice is try to use more details and descriptive words. Besides that i love it!!!
Thank you for your review and your advice <3
I Like It.
Here's why...
My story is complicated and I'm not going to go into much detail, but I am currently (forcefully) separated from my fiance by her parents. I'm a guy and never been the dating type. Spending time with my girl helped me to somewhat understand how women think, and this poem is a wonderful tell-all from as far as I understand. I miss my girl so much, and I often think about the time we got to spend together. This poem serves as a fantastic reminder that she fears the same thing I do.
I'm sorry for talking more about myself, but you know that you've written a great poem when someone can relate to it; especially when they are a different gender and come from a different perspective on life. It is my belief that only a great writer can make a true personal connection to another person. Think about it... A poem... Just a bunch of stanzas put together. Lines. Words. A 'poem' that can have an impact on someones life is an example of great writing.
Less rant, More review.
Oh, god... More rant.... This poem doesn't just remind me of her, it reminds me of me. "you let me win," is a line that resonates deeply with me. When you are in love with someone, it becomes your duty to make them feel good. Everything is light-hearted, simple, and fun. It's Love, and it's beautiful.
"Do you love me anymore?" .... This one might be more anecdotal or specific to my case, but from my experience, she is always afraid that I will stop loving her, going as far as to say, "I understand if you hate me." I can understand the fear of losing someone you love. Sometimes you just need to assure your significant other that that would never be the reality. But it hits me pretty hard because I think both partners have that fear (in my case, certainly.)
From that point on, your poem actually becomes DIFFICULT for me to read. It strikes too close to home and unfortunately, we don't have tomorrow.
Sorry (again) for all of my more personal ranting, but I'm am trying to show you how personal and relatable of a piece you've written. All and all, I think it is a great poem. Sure, there are some things I would change, but we are different people, and that's what makes our poetry unique and beautiful in their own right. Even if there are some things that I would have done differently, I KNOW that you did a much better job than I could ever do at writing something that someone can relate so strongly with.
From the bottom of my heart, Congrats. You did a fantastic job. This is a fantastic poem. I've never read a poem that took total control of me until I read this one.
Hey, I'm really sorry about what you're going through, I wish you and your fiance the best of luck. I'm really glad that you liked my poem and it feels incredible that I was able to touch someone like you with my writing. Thank you so much for the review ^-^
