.
I want to laugh like a child,
To dwell in the ‘now’,
Not what has passed or what is to come.
I wish to become one who laughs from the heart,
That clear, radiant sound that awakens the downcast,
Drawing smiles unbidden.
.
.
I want to laugh like a child,
Revealing my heart with nothing to hide,
Only dreams to be shared,
That sweet, simple faith
That lambent north star, the enduring guide,
That gives us strength to continue.
.
.
I want to laugh like a child,
Who has never felt alone,
But understands, even in solitude,
Their Father’s love;
The truth yet uncorrupted, inherently known,
That cradles in pure peace.
.
.
I want to remember the truth,
That has been obscured by the weight of my years.
So remake my heart, Beloved, and help me cast away
These ephemeral terrors,
that choke
and wound
and strangle
.
.
.
Father,
Lend me Your strength to face them each day,
As they plot my suffering,
As they contend for my soul.
Oh, let me laugh in spite, secure in Your peace,
Like a child.

Hello, here's LUNARGIRL with a review for you!
First off great job with the poem! I love how you repeated the line "I want to laugh like a child," throughout the poem. The repetition adds to the message and importance of the poem. The poem had so much power and emotion to it, and was beautifully crafted. Your words had such meaning and the poem had great description in it.
My favorite part of it was,
"I want to remember the truth,
That has been obscured by the weight of my years.
So remake my heart,
Beloved, and help me cast away
These ephemeral terrors,
that choke
and wound
and strangle."
It was so powerful and it touched my heart in many ways.
Can't wait to read what you write next!
Carpe diem,
LUNARGIRL
Thank-you for the review Lunar
