gave up

Yes, she woke up

‎Up, from another dream

‎The clocked smiled at her

‎Beside the lyrics, the nightlight was still on

‎But those lyrics? they never took form

‎the room felt dark

‎And the wood smelled fresh

‎The books were yet to be read

‎Except....

‎There were no books, or any wood

‎And there was no darkness,

‎for the stars were her roof

‎But she had nothing else to soothe

what she had was the finished melody

‎Which danced along with the lyrics

‎She played the strings on that cold night

‎Her fingers jumped over the strings of death and time

‎And then, she woke up again

‎Again, in her room

‎And beside her bed

‎So she smiled to the unknown

‎And drove to the slumber

‎For she had work the very next day

This is a very good poem. In the beginning, it makes me feel think of the future, possibly hopeful. The metaphors really reinforce this. It makes me think that the world is encouraging the person in the poem to finish the lyrics. I found the details after 'Except...' very unteresting. It makes me think that she is a sort of god, creating the world with her lyrics. The fact that it was all dream was even more interesting. I really liked how you finished it, too. Keep writing!

Loved your interpretation ^^

Hello Silly, definitely not Billy! Your poem is very interesting, it's a dream sequence afterall ^0^ (most of it, yes). I barely know how to interpret this, but it is just so beautiful. I think it's about work life and stuff, were she doesn't get time to work on her passion and even contemplate the dream she had about that passion.

Yes, she woke up

‎Up, from another dream

‎The clocked smiled at her

‎Beside the lyrics, the nightlight was still on

‎But those lyrics? they never took form

‎the room felt dark

‎And the wood smelled fresh

‎The books were yet to be read
I think this is about the real world. Like, she entered the dream world from the real world, which was a gloomy dream. How the lyrics never took form, she didn't get time to write it in the real world.

‎‎There were no books, or any wood

‎And there was no darkness,

‎for the stars were her roof

‎But she had nothing else to soothe

what she had was the finished melody

‎Which danced along with the lyrics

‎She played the strings on that cold night

‎Her fingers jumped over the strings of death and time
Now this is where the dream transforms from the reality like world to something beautiful, like the melodies she made, something she needed. It transforms from her room to a starry sky. The line that I couldn't make of anything was the last line here. What did you mean when you said '‎Her fingers jumped over the strings of death and time'? Does it mean that her dream had little time left? I would love to know >v<

And then, she wakes up, smiles cuz she had a good time there and goes back to sleep again. As I said, this poem is really beautiful. Thank you so much for writing and sharing your work Silly!

I love your interpretation, it's almost completely accurate!
Basically what I meant with her fingers jumping over death and time is that when she chose to pursue her dream which lead to a financial turmoil so although she was happy but she was poor and probably sick or starving thus jumping between death and time

It's basically choices leading to alternate realities (which could be considered a dream sequence) but each one of it has it's own setbacks

If I'm going to burn, it might as well be bright.
