I'm in love with the whole idea for your thread and the execution along with that clean formatting is *chef's kiss* - I know this is going to be a really fun thread to read along with. I really love this line "eyebrows puckered in equal parts love and exasperation / keep hanging she tells me" - I just love the way that's described and can totally see that "mom" look. For all four poems there's this sense of the whole story not being quite said, like the poem's come from a very authentic / real place and that there's a whole background behind them to imagine.
Looking forward to reading along with you this month. You've got this! <3
you should know i am a time traveler & there is no season as achingly temporary as now
Oh, my goodness. The imagery in your latest poem is so perfect and absolutely heart wrenching. I really like how each poem starts and ends with antonyms, and I think it's especially effective in "near/far", because the images you use in the two parts are so nicely connected and reversed.
your face constellations are three light-years too far.
^ like omg I can't articulate how much I love these two lines - and they're really sadly relatable, as well.
I really love the variety of tone and imagery you have in the thread as a whole, too; "frustration flies with your saliva, / hands gripped like you're snatching / the bones right out of my skin" -> this is so much more active and aggressive, and it fits into its respective poem amazingly. I find it ultra impressive that you're able to use such a wide range of imagery so successfully! Keep up the fabulous poeting! <3
When you're faced with something you don't understand, I think the most natural thing but also least interesting thing you can be is afraid.
