Punch, jab, kick, punch. Kick, jab, jab, punch. Jab, jab, jab.

That was the sound of me working at the punching bag in the state of the art gym they had here at the Paramen Academy. They had everything you could think of and more.

Kick, kick, jab, punch.

I had my hair up in a high pony tail with my bangs clipped back from my face and my music blearing. I was completely drenched in sweat and everybody was watching me with suspicion, curiosity, and a small hint of fear. My fingerless boxing gloves were starting to slip up and down my hands, so i stopped to wipe them and continued, switching from boxing to martial arts. I pounded into that bag like my life depended on it.

Once I finished that, I hit the weight room. All eyes were still on me as I loaded on 250lbs, thought I know they didn't pay attention and began bench pressed. When I finished somebody came up to me. It was Chase.

"It's kind of hard for people to believe you're not a vampire when you bench press like that." he commented casually.

I sat up and smiled. "I can actually do more, but I didn't wanna scare you guys too much."

Chases gaze zeroed in on the spot under my right eye. Make up must be coming off. I'm surprised it hadn't come off sooner. My scar must be showing.
I grabbed a bottle of water and poured it on my face. A deafening silence rang out for a moment. You wouldn't believe the sounds that came out of people's mouths.

Chase actually took a step back he was speechless. "S-some scar you have."

"Yea, most people are intimidated by my eyes, and when combined with my scar it really scares people off." I shrugged before taking a big gulp of water.

As you can guess, classes are over for the day, and it went as good as it could. I know I didn't elaborate much, but i don't feel like going into it. Everywhere i went people watched, like they were waiting for me to give myself away. I got glares, stares, side glances, and whispers about whether or not i was a vampire.

Out of no where Molly walks up to me, almond brown hair bouncing and swaying as she went and came to an abrupt stop when she looked at my face. The poor girl looked like she was lost in the dark forrest, but she found the courage to step closer and smile.

"Hi Ms. Wenchester, how's your work out going?" She gave me this big smile with all of her teeth showing.

What the chiz?

"Um," Pause. "good i guess. You?"

"Oh, it's going great. Can i work out with you?" she asked with those puppy dog eyes. Chase snickered and shuffled to his friends who were still watching me.

"Um," I looked at her and tried to resist.

She even did the lip pout thing. Sigh. "Please?"

She jumped up and down, even jogged in place. Sigh again. Crap.

Ms. Wenchester seemed pretty irritated, but I decided that I didn't really care. It was rare to find other girls in the gym, and I'd had enough of Chase and his jock pack staring at me.

"Let me finish this set first," Ms. Wenchester said, picking up her barbel again.

"Okay," I replied. "I'll be over that way."

I walked over to the squat bar, grabbing a small stool on the way. I rarely used the squat bar for squats; instead, I hung upside down from the top of the whole apparatus. Using the stool to boost myself up, I swung my legs over the top and let myself dangle. After a few seconds, I started noticing little things--my vision was sharper, and my breathing was different.

"What on earth are you doing?" Chase laughed.

"Conditioning," I answered. Hanging upside down let extra blood flow to my head, simulating negative Gs--the same thing that happened when I flipped my airplane upside down. By now, my face felt puffy, and my ears were beginning to ring.

Classes were pretty much over, and I was in no mood to sit in a class and study. Not even Science. I mean, yes. Science was the last one but I was fed up. So, I just decided to take a stroll, waved at some of my friends including Chase who waved back. I saw Sarafine and Tatsel together. Seriously. I see Tatsel with almost the weirdest of girls.

I stopped to talk. "New girls this year, huh, Tatsel?" I say, grinning.

He shrugged. "Girls are attractive." he says.

"Uh-huh. Anyway, I better get going." I say, because he was acting a lot stranger this year, so I just frowned and shook my head.

I saw myself walking into the gym and opening the door. I entered and the door closed with a bang behind me. Everyone turns to look and I look at the door again, and back at them.

"Oops. Sorry about that." I said, and walked inside.

I watch Molly, chuckling, and my gang actually leaves me alone for once. They go to shoot hoops; still in the gym, and I glance at them before looking back at Molly, "You realize that isn't conditioning, right?" I smirk, shaking my head, "Conditioning is doing suicides or relays. Running laps. This won't help you at all."

With that, I walk to my buddies who keep on checking out thy new girl that walked in. I glance at her: Pearl, and give her a quick wink and a smile before nailing a three pointer.

"Cha," My closest buddy nudges me just as I'm about to shoot half court, "Playing in the big playoff game on Friday?"

I scoff before making the basket, "Of course I am. I'm the team captain. Can't believe you even asked that."

He shrugs and shoots a three pointer, and I turn around to find almost every girl staring at us. I chuckle and turn back around, shooting a free-throw. The school day is over, and I'm planning to practice as much as I can.

Tatsel "Morpheus" Lunatone

I wandered around the halls, more or less ticked at Sarafine for her bold move. That was supposed to be my job, being deemed as the school bad boy and lady's man and all. Sooner or later, the little twit would have to stop stepping into my territory and be cautious like everybody else. I've spent four centuries and a year taking cautionary measures and I don't want Sarafine to blow it all up in smoke in a matter of minutes. I growled. "One of these days, I'll seal her up in the school walls alive and leave her there. She had no right to step into my turf. Not while I'm still walking these halls." I went into the gym and sat down in the bleachers. I wasn't in the mood for feeding, so watching some of the mortals play in the gym was just what the doctor ordered.

After my meltdown this morning, I spent the rest of the day sitting silently in my classes. When my last class of the day was over, I hurried back to my room so I could finally have some peace. When I got there I was a little disappointed that Ian wasn't back yet, I really wanted to talk to her, if we're going to be roommates, then we might as well try to be friends; she's been nothing but nice to me, and she must think I'm a total jerk for ignoring her. After sitting and writing for a while, I decide to stroll around campus for a while.

When I passed the gym I peered in, there was a ton of people in there, so I decided to keep moving. After that I just went for a walk outside, then went back to my room. I thought I smelled something burning, but dismissed the thought as my imagination. A few minutes later Ian walked in, she was laughing about something, but I wasn't going to ask. "Hey roomie," she said as she sat down on her bed. It was now or never. "Hey," I said, "Look, I'm really sorry if you think I'm like ignoring you or whatever. It's just," I get a little lost, I don't really know how to explain. "I get it," she responded, "I kind of figured you were shy, and that incident in class confirmed it." "Yeah about that," I told her, "You probably think I'm the biggest loser here now, almost everyone else does." She told me she didn't and we made small talk for a few minutes, then she was off again.

I decided to go for another walk and ran into that girl Raven. I have a feeling the two of us are going to end up as friends. I might as well try to talk to her. "Hi, I'm Trinity," is all I'm able to get out before I find my self running away. I really need to work on my peopl skills. I'm outside now, and I feel really bad about that. There goes any chance of a friendship between us, I really blew that one. I think I hear her following me, but I don't dare look, though it could just be some other kids walking around campus. Then I hear her yell, "Wait!" And I stop.

I step into the gym looking around for a moment then decide better of it and leave, so many mortals in there I don't think it'd work out that well. Tonight I'll have my fill after a quick visit to the woods. Ah this is just gonna be too good to finally relieve myself of this gnawing hunger of mine. I sigh then turn and see Tatsel just before I go sitting at a bench giving me and evil eye as I go. Just as the doors close I smirk and dare him to do something, anything to me. Then I continue down the hall smirking as I scent his blood right behind me.

I finished my set and out the barbells down. I scanned the room only to find her hanging upside down with a serious tomato face going on. What the hell is this girl trying to do? Kill her self? I looked over at where Chase and his friends were only to findthem chucling at Molly. I shot over to her and pulled her down with one arm. The boys just busted out laughing, but i silenced them with one look and turned back to Molly.

"Molly, are you ok?" I touched her face. "What were you trying to do? Kill your self? Because a few more minutes and you would've."

"She said she was conditioning." Chase sauntered over with a smile on his face.

"What?" I handed molly my water and looked back at chase.

"Yea," he laughed again. "that's what she said."

I almost laughed. No, scratch that, I did laugh. Hard.So hard i fell on my butt.Chase even joined in. But when I saw Molly's face I tried to stop. I almost felt bad. Almost.

"Honey, if you wanted to condition you should've done suicides or a tread mill" I cleared my throat.

I turned to Chase and glared. "And you," he pointed to himself with a question in his eyes. "Yea you.You should be ashamed of yourself."

"But-" he started

My finger silenced him. "She needed help and you didn't help. She really could've hurt herself, and you laughed."

"Not so funny now is?" Molly smiled Chase.

"And you," I turned."should know better"

She opened her mouth to speak but i cut ger off. "Ah, no buts. You should've known better."

Her lip quivered like scared child. It burned to look into those puppy dog eyes. It was too much.
"So yea," I started to back away. "phew, I am so bushed-" lie "-I should get going..."

Molly busted out crying and everyone turned to look at me.I burned out with every pair of eyes in the room on my back.

I went through the rest of my classes without social inteaction. If someone tried to speak to me, I left the room. The only exception to this rule was Ian. When she waved to me I waved back. There wasn't much trouble, though. People seemed to sense that I was best left alone.
By the end of my final class my muscles were so tense they were begining to hurt. I briefly considered going to the gym and doing something to loosen them, but decided against it. Too many jocks.
In the end all I did was lock my door and take a bottle from my mini fridge. Thank goodness, I hadn't used this as an accelerant. The nail polish remover had done just fine burning all that girl's belongings to a blackened crisp. Ian and I had managed to put out the fire before the alarms went off, but everyone within two miles could hear her shreik. Security guards had come running, thinking the girl was being feasted on. I downed a few gulps, just enough to loosen up, and put it back. It was too early in the evening to get hammered. With nothing else to do I turned to the computer. Might as well message some friends back at her last school.
I closed out of a website advertising high-quality climbing equipment and pulled up IM. Ricky was on. I gave a smile small. We had dated for a while but we just couldn't make it work. Probably because he had a boyfriend now.
Before I could write a thing, Ricky's message popped up.How are things at the Cullens? Have they invited you to dinner yet? They should do a potluck, just don't take STAKE.
I rolled my eyes. No mosquitos yet. I'll keep you posted.
Make any new friends?
I paused. Ian was good at picking locks and helping me release my inner pyromaniac, but was she a friend?
Yeah.
Meet any hotties? I could practically see him wiggling his eyebrows.
GTG.
I had a decent buzz going and was feeling a bit better. Not good enough to change back into white, but better.
I decided I didn't want to spend my time in this room. Maybe I'd go for a walk through the woods.

I loose him once I ener the woods though I catch the scent of someone new,"Ahhh how great the mute runs into her hunter." I purr softly then stalk forward coming up behind her so well and silent. I place a hand over her eyes and whisper softly in her ear "Guess who?" I smirk my breath hot on her neck as I lean in closer then I snake my other arm around her pinning her arms to her side then in a flash I have her in a hold my fangs deep in her neck as I drink deeply. She struggles under my steel tight grin but she weakens and it doesn't work once unconciouse I let go and lean her against a tree. Then turn and return to Tatsel who was sitting at the edge of the woods he moves in close to me when he scents the mortal blood on me.

It felt good to be outside. The breeze was just cool enough and the smell of pine was heavenly. My slightly dulled senses might have been one of the reasons I was feeling so mellow, but I might as well enjoy it while it lasts. I took a deep breath and spun around with my arms outstretched like I used to do as a little girl. Everything was just so good. Nothing botherd me then, not paranoia, not the girl with the charred belongings, not even my memories of him.
Suddenly, my vision was gone and my arms were pinned.
"Guess who?" she had asked, her hot breath snaked down my neck.
My mouth opened but my silent screams were useless. My beaded choker was snapped off my neck and I felt something sharp pierce my flesh. Even as I struggled, my world faded to black.

Why does my neck hurt?
Why is everything spinning?
My ears are ringing. It's so loud... why won't it stop?
Where am I? The woods...
What did I do to make
him so mad this time? No wait, that's not right... is it?
I tried to move, only to fall again. My mouth moved in silent calls for help. Before I could do or think anything else I returned to a blood-loss induced sleep.

Raven and I talk for a while, then she has to go to study hall. I actually talked to two people I didn't know today! This would be marked a good day if I had some blood. Lucky for me I can go up to a month and a half on mortal food, but after that I'll need some blood, unfortunately that time is almost up and if I don't get some blood soon I don't know what I'm going to do. To take my mind off of things I go back to my room and finish unpacking the rest of my stuff I didn't get to yesterday. After that I go down and get some dinner, not blood like I wanted, but it'll do for now, and then I go back to the room and pull out my laptop. I go onto the school's website to see what's new and apparently there are drama auditions at the end of the day tomorrow. I pull up one of the monologues and a song I have saved on the computer and begin practicing. After about an hour of this I stop to drink some water.

I'm about to start practicing again when Ian walks in. I decide to go somewhere more private to rehearse and think the woods would be good, nothing against Ian, I'm just not comfortable practicing in front of her yet. I tell her what I'm up to, grab a water bottle to go, and I'm off. As I approach the woods, I see Sarafine Rider and Tastel Lunatone are headed back towards campus, I know they are also vampires, but Sarafine smells of mortal blood. She must have just fed, probably no one from our school, that would be fairly dumb; once they were known to be missing, everyone would be questioned. I silently walk past them and keep going until I'm deep in the woods. I'm about to start when I see her, Heike, she's leaning against a tree, blood dripping from two fang holes, knocked out. I can't be sure if she was fed on until she died, or if she's been turned. I saw her with Ian earlier today.

I start running as fast as my legs will go so I can tell Ian about this. Sarafine must know what I'm thinking as I pass her and Tastel because she looks at me then him wearing a look of concern. I can't be positive, but I'm 99% sure it was her. This would explain why she smells of mortal blood. When I reach my roo'm I bolt in.Luckily Ian is still in here, I wouldn't know where else to look for 'her. "What is it?" she asks me. "It's your friend Heike, she's been bitten by a vampire, I saw her in the woods, unconcious against a tree with fang holes in her neck!" I exclaim, "I'm not sure if she's dead or turned ir what." She gasps. "Do you know who it was?" she asks me. "Well, I can't be sure but I have a theory." I tell her.
"Who?"
"Well I'm not 100% positive so-"
"Who?"
"I don't want to say in case I'm wrong?"
"Who?"
She's yelling at this point.
"Sarafine Rider."
"What makes you say that?"
"I can't really say. Let's just say that I have a good feeling, and when I ran past her, it confirmed it."
Ian understands what that means completely, you can see it on her face. "Let me take you to where Heike is." I offer.
We leave the room in silence.

Sarafine Rider
When they get their the girl is gone and no where to be found but students are gathered around the nurses office and you could hear Sarafine's voice coming from inside the room telling the nurse that she had found Heike while she had gone on a walk with Tatsel through the woods when they stumbled upon her in an unconciouse state. Then the nurse shoos them out so Heike could rest then Sarafine links arms with Tatsel and strides past Trinity and Ian, shooting a vengeful look at Trinity then covers it up wih an innocent smile as her and Tatsel leave the two where they are, Ian had been trying to push through the crowd so she didn't see Sarafine's look.

After Trinity had left the room, I decided now would be a good time to celebrate in peace.

“Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday to meee! Happy birthday dear Iaaaan haaaappy birthday to me!” I sing out into the dark, taking another swig from the flask in my hand. It was small, and I hadn’t drunken very much but I wasn’t the kind of person who could hold their liquor. Hell, I only drank once a year.

This was (of course) on my birthday and the same day my Dad ditched me for some vampire girl. He’d dropped everything, even his flask, the only nice thing he owned. I held up the small bottle to the moon light, it wasn’t particularly intricate but it had an elegance about it.

I hiccupped softly, “Must’ve been a pretty important lady.” I started to laugh drunkenly into the night. The very same thing that had destroyed my life was wandering this campus. And here I was, drunk, alone, and very loud. I smirked a little.

“Come get me you over glorified leeches.” I shout at the sky. But then I heard Trinity yelling and suddenly I felt my sense of self-preservation wake up for the first time.

I had just mey Heike, we didn't know each other well. I could say the same for Trinity. But it was more than easy to see that we all had suffered though alot.

And I'll be damned if I let mosquitos kill my first attempt at a friend.

I was still wondering around in the woods when I saw Sarafine attack a girl. At first I thougt they were playing around but then Sarafine bit into jer neck and started drinking. Oh My God! I clapped a ahndnover my mouth so I woudn't scream and alert her to me presence. I saw a flash of movement out of the corner of my eyes and saw Tatsel next to her. I wondered, was he was a vampire too? It would make sense. I stopped dwelling on the thought and ran back to my dorm. I locked the door and started wondering if I should tell someone about what I saw, or better yet if I should go help that poor girl. I decided tobwaot until I thought the coast was clear then go see what was going on.
