Pearl

They told me and the girls to hide behind the tree's but I wouldn't listen. Of course, I'm not going to let everyone get in trouble when we're all safe but Chase wouldn't allow me to come after him at all. Ms. Wenchester had strictly instructed me that I wanted to kick her in the face but I didn't, as I pleaded but she wouldn't bulge.

"I want to come with you!" I say, following both of them.

"Pearl, you got to stay! You're not getting yourself in danger." Chase says, stopping me.

"How about you guys? I don't want you to get yourselves in danger too!" I shoot back.

"Listen to what I'm saying! You will stay here, until everything's clear. You hear me?" Ms.Wenchester screamed at me.

"NO! Don't-Don't tell me what to do!" I exclaim.

"Missy, you ain't getting your manner right!" Ms. Wenchester says. "Stay."

"I'm coming." I respond, and follow them. "Whether you like it or not!"

"Shh." Chase says. "You're going to make them hear us. Listen, girl. You stay, we do the thing. You've got to help other girls be safe too. I'll be back." he hurls off, after that, leaving me alone.

No, this is not working. I decide to follow them anyway, without them knowing. We reach there to find Raven and Trinity, all against the tree. Ms. Wenchester is fighting ferociously. I see Chase getting banged and I go run off to help him. He gets up, feeling strong. He looks at me and frowns.

"You don't listen, do you?" Chase says, chuckling.

I smile, and walk right out to help with Raven. Trinity comes in and screams at the guy, but he's just too strong. I untie Raven, but I get pinned against the tree by some guy, and he's breathing closely to me. My hair is clasped tightly to his hands, making my head hurt. My face is in pain and I'm screaming and crying.

"Well, well, well. Too much guts to do that, girlie. This one looks like a vampire." he says, smirking.

"I-I'm not! Leave me alone!" I say, kicking him right in the stomach to where he falls, and I stab in more there, grabbing on to a branch and hitting him. He's knocked down, unconscious. I look at the branch again. I could use this as a weapon. I turn to fight more people, and the chaos is running. After a few minutes, everyone's gone, it's all ended. I feel my head hurt and dizzy, and I black out.

x--x At school grounds

I open my eyes to find myself in a bed, a bandage plastered on my forehead. I come to my senses, and realize I'm in my dorm and there's no one else. I hear a door opening and find Ms.Wenchester. Groaning, I turn away to not face her. She looks at me, thinking that I was deep asleep and left. Just that moment, I hear another familiar voice talking to Ms.Wenchester. Molly. She comes in and sits beside me, sighing.

"Hey, how're you feeling?" Molly asks me, smiling.

"Alright." I say, struggling to get and she helps me up.

"Did anyone hit you on the head?" she asks me, eyeing to the bandage on my forehead.

Feeling it, I say, "Well, I guess, I got a couple bruises and I was pinned on to the tree pretty hard."

"Oh." Molly says. "Do you want to eat something? Dinner's going on."

"It's dinner? Well, yeah! I'm hungry like hell." I respond, getting out of the bed but I feel weak. Molly helps me walk downstairs to the hall.

As I enter, no one really bothers to ask me how I was doing. They're all busy eating, soon forgotten about the incident that took place. Picking up a plate, I start eating with Molly sitting next to me. Thoughts are running through my mind about this guy. And that diary or journal. Whose was it? I still had to return it. It would be mean to read it but I had found out lots of secrets already. Like the vampires. Trinity and Tatsel was one. Heike too. Lots. I decided to slip all those memories away, as I concentrated on eating my food.

Sarafine
I arouse as someone enters the room, I look up and am shocked when a girl who looks about my age steps up to my bed looking down at me with her one icy blue eye and one blood red eye. "Hello Mother or do you preffer Sarafine?" she asks me and I start bawling right then and there, while Raven and Trinity look over at me awake now both wondering why I was crying my eyes out. Then Asther comes in and stands beside the other girl trying to comfort me but I cry even worse as she stands there next to her.
"What's wrong tell me Sarafine." She begs of me then I choke out a small answer and they all gasp.
"My daughters, you and Roxanne."

Raven

"Wait, what?!" I exclaim before I can stop myself. Sarafine has two TEENAGE daughters? And one's Asther? No one seems to hear me tough, except for Trinity, who I share a shocked glance with. She doesn't know what's going on either. Sarafine is sitting in bed, crying her eyes out, with her daughters, Asther and... Roxanne, beside her. I can't believe it. Who's the father? I wonder. Then my mind goes crazy as I try to connect the dots. So, Sarafine just got captured by that psycho yesterday, her daughters came to visit, and they all started crying. Is the guy who captured us th father? That's what I want to ask, but don't, because I feel that that might be a little too personal. I feel akward just watching them, so I pretend to read my book, which Domino had brought up to the emergency room for me from my dorm. I reach over and grab it, flipping pages every so often to not give away that I actually watching the chaos unfold. Trinity has the same idea, grabbing her journal, which Steve brought up for her, and pretending to write.

They talk for a while, but I don't understand most of it, like they're talking in a different language or something. I think Trinity does though. Maybe it's a vampire thing. She whispers to me that she'll tell me later, or if Sarafine wants to, she will. When Asther and Roxanne finally leave, both they and Sarafine are crying, tears running freely down their faces. Trinity is starting to tear up too. And I still have no idea what's going on.

Soon after, we ask if she is alright and if she wants to talk to us about it. She ignores us (I probably would too.) and goes to sleep. Ater we are sure she's completely asleep, I say, "I think I know who the father is. I think its the guy who was going to kill us yesterday." I thought that Trinity would think I was crazy, but she is completely serious. She says to me "I think you're right." Then she explains what was said between mother and daughters.

All of the crying and the words exchanged between them, it got to me; yes I did tear up a bit, I admit it. I write a note telling Raven what was said.

Sarafine apologized for being a neglective mother, the girls said it wasn't her fault, they knew she didn't want to see 'him' and I stopped listening after that because I actually was writing in my journal and kind of forgot why I was listening to them. Sorry!

Then after Raven just shrugs her shoulders at the note we talk. "Raven, are you scared?" "Scared of the attacker?" she asks for clarification. "Yeah, I know he's mainly after us vampires, but he seems to hate you as well." "Not really," she explains, "Why are you?" "Yeah." I admit, a tear rolling down my face. I'm shaking out of fear again. "I'm afraid for my life. I'm also scared about my surgeries tomorrow and the next day." She understands. We talk a while longer, then when it gets really late, she recommends that I get some sleep. I roll over and drift off thinking about my surgery tomorrow.

I am woken up early by Ms. Wenchester, the nurse, and Steve. They put me in my wheelchair, and Steve pushes it, Ms. Wenchester and the nurse walking beside us. As I lay on the bed, waiting for the doctor, I look at Steve. "What's wrong?" he asks with concern. "I'm just nervous, that's all." He takes my hand in his. "You'll be okay," he promises, "I'll be right here when you wake up." The doctor enters and talks to me about the surgery, but I tune him out. He puts the anestesia mask on my face. The last thing I see is Steve, looking at me, as I drift off.

When I wake up, it's a few hours later and everyone's eating lunch. Steve walks over to me. "I told you I'd be here." he says with a smile, "I also told you that you'd be fine, it was a success, but you can't leave here until after a week from tomorrow, since you also have a surgery tomorrow." I smile. He brings me crackers and water, he says the doctor told him it's all I could have for now, but truthfully I don't think that I can even handle this. When I refuse the offer, he tells me the doctor said I have to. As much as my stomach hurts, I do as I'm instructed. Steve looks oh so tired, it's obvious he hasn't slept in days, probably since the attack. I instruct him to go get some sleep, and after some debating, he finally agrees. After he leaves, Ms. Wenchester rolls my bed out of the recovery room and back into my room with Sarafine and Raven. Everyone keeps asking me if I'm okay, and I keep reassuring them that I am. Then after everyone, except us three leaves, and Raven falls asleep, Sarafine turns to me. "I have a question," she says, "What made you put my life before your own, when you told Steve to help me first?" "Well, I thought that I would be dead, either way, so I figured at least one of us should get a chance to live. Plus, even though I was very weak, I was awake, and aware of my surroundings, you were unconscious at the time, and could notevenscream if he returned." I explain. "Oh. Well thanks again." she says as she rolls over and goes to sleep. After writing in my journal, I drift off as well, even though it's not even dinner-time yet, a nap never hurt anyone, especially not someone in our conditions. Domino comes in for dinner, bringing in food for himself, Raven, Sarafne, and crackers and water for me. He sits in the chair between Raven and myself and talks to her. Once I'm finished I put my headphones on, plug them into my ipod, and listen to music. I need to relax, I was fine during surgery today, though my stomach still feels like someone stabbed it, I know I'll be fine tomorrow, and my stomach pain is because someone did stab it, and then it was sliced open for surgery this morning; how lovely. I hope my ankle will be fine, even just laying here with ice on it is killing me. The surgery, even though it will cause more short-term pain, should help me from havingmany more times like this, where it even hurts to do mothing.

In the morning, I go through the same series of events as the previous day. When I am wheeled out of the recovery room at lunchtime, I am given juice, soup, and apple sauce as I am now aloud to eat real food. Though my stomach is still bothering me, I do as I'm instructed. The rest of the day is fairly boring, mostly spent with Sarafine, Raven, and I talking to each other. That night we all actually fall asleep quickly. However I am woken up by my greatest fears at about 2 AM, as there is ducttape over my mouth, and the attacker just finished tying me to my wheelchair. I look aroun and Sarafine and Raven are tied up as well, knocked out and I know what's coming. He hits me over the head with... something... I didn't really get a good look, and I'm out.

I wake up as we are exiting the far side of the forest, I look behind me, the attacker pushing my wheelchair with Raven and Sarafine thrown over his shoulders. He stops and removes my ducttape, "No one can here you way out here, we are long past the campus, plus everyone is sleeping." he chuckles. He ties a blindfold around my eyes, so I can't see anything. This is not good. "I like to finish a job before starting a new one." he replies. This is when I know, there will be no rescue this time, we are going to die. After traveling for what seems like eternity, I feel him untying me, and I am dumped on a cold, hard, cement floor. He removes the blindfold to reveal we are in some sort of cellar, it;s dark, cold, and damp in here, like a scene from a horror movie. He unties Raven and Sarafine, and throws them down next to me. They wake up, seeming just as scared as I am. Surprisingly he exits, up the stairs, through a heavy-looking metal door. Just as he is closing it he says, "I have to decide what kind of 'fun' to have with you guys." He slams it shut, cutting us off from the outside world.

Raven

I wake up while being thrown to the ground in a dark, dank room. Trinity is on my left, and newly awakened Sarafine is on my right. Our previous tormentor is back once more, most likely to finish the job. I can assure you, the promise that he made us is not true. This certianly is not going to be fun. Not for us, anyway. After he leaves, I try to speak, but realize mid-sentence that my mouth is duct-taped shut. Without thinking, I rip the duct-tape off, wincing as I do. Sarafine does the same, and we say together, "God, please let this be a nightmare or something."

Trinity, solem and morose, seems to have already given up, saying, "Nope. This is 100% real life. Welcome to hell." Deflated, she leans back against the wall. I know that she won't survive another beating-slash-stabbing that she sustained last time, and it looks like she does too. That means that either we have to escape or I'll have to return the favor she did me last time and destract him from attacking her. I brace myself for the fact that I'm probably not going to make it out alive from this hell. Trinity, knowing me all too well, knows what I am thinking. "No." She says, "You're not going to sacafice yourself for me."

I say, undeterred, "You would do it for me. You did do that for me. I'm going to, if it comes to that." Realizing that I won't be swayed, she sighs and just sits back, thinking, about what I don't know. Instead of me doing the same, I check the perimeter of the room, to see if there are any possible exits. There aren't. Well, there goes that plan. Besides, we have no idea where we are. We would probably gotten lost in the woods or something. Well, it doesn't matter now.

Deflated, I sit down on the cold cement floor next to Sarafine. She has been crying since he left. Trying to comfort her, I wrap my arm around her and try to calm her down. That's when I tell her, "That guys the father, isn't he?" She nods, weeping. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." I say lamely. We talk for a while, and she finally asks the qestion that obviously has been on the tip of her tongue for a while, "Why are you guys being so nice to me?" Her cheeks are tear-stained, her eyes watery.

"Because," I say slowly, as if I'm talking to a young child. "You've been through hell, and Trinity helps her own. And I'm Trinity's friend. I guess we're friends now, too. Now that we're about to die."

We fall silent after that, all of us wrapped up in our own thoughts, prayers, or whatever else you do before you die. Until, of course, we hear the one door in the room creak open, and our tormentor is with us once more. He is armed to the teeth, with daggers, knives, guns, pretty much anything you can imagine. He also is also carrying various toture devices that I don't even want to think about. Coming down the cellar steps, he says menacingly, "Boy are we going to have fun to-night!"

I was walking back to the infirmary to check on the girls. When I got there they were all gone. Crap. I shot off for Kai's office in record time.

"Wait!" Lila called as I passed by her desk. " He's in a meeting.

I went in anyway and stopped dead in my tracks when I saw who was else was in the room. Kai's father.

"How rude of you to walk in without knocking." he smiled. "Now get on over here and give me a hug."

He stood up and walked towards me before picking me up and squeezing me in a back popping bear bear hug. Then he kissed me on the forehead. I kissed both of his cheeks as he set back down on the floor.

"Hey Axel," I smiled. "long time no see."

"How have you been?" he asked.

"Sorry Axel, now's not the time to get caught up." I looked at Kai. "We have a serious problem.

He was already strapping up. "What's going?"

"Gideon has the girls again." I told.

"Gideon?" Axel stilled. "You mean the man who-"

Kai slammed his drawer closed so hard the entire desk shook. I jumped a little at the sound.

"How?" he fumed.

"You know I don't know the answer to that." I looked down.

There was a knock on the door. "Ms. Wenchester, Headmaster, is everything alright?"

"Everything's fine." I called back. "No worries."

There was a pause. "O-ok then."

Kai scoffed. "No worries."

"There sure as hell won't be when we find them." I shrugged. "So you can either stand here and sulk in self pity or we can go get them back."

"She's right, son." Axel chimed in.

I headed for the door and they both followed. When we got backto the dorm I strapped myself down with daggers, my Sai, and a small handgun. I was careful not to let either of the see my grab.

"I may know where they are." I grabbed my phone and strapped it to my at.

"Where?" Kai asked.

I headed out of headed out the dorm room. "There's a small cabin in the woods about two miles out I scouted while getting familiar with the place."

Kai had been gone earlier when I stopped by. Lila said he's gone to an appointment. Judged on the shorts and tight black shirts they were both wearing it's safe to assume they were both out playing basketball.

"We can make it there fast if we run the while way." I say as we break through the tree line and disappear into the brush.

We all break into a run and zoom through the trees. 15 minutes later we were standing infront of the cabin I mentioned and heard a loud banging noise inside and headed towards it after doing a quick sweep of the surrounding area. Time to get this party started.

Heike

The wind whipped around my hair as I quickly manuvered through the dead of night, my black outfit making me nearly invisable, minus the pale face and red eyes that nearly glow. I had taken the contacts out earlier when I had started rubbing my eyes so much that the whites were starting to go red. It didn't matter anyway. While Anna had been nice enough to convince the whole school (with the exceptence of the vampire community, Luna, and Kai) that I had not left humanity behind, the person I was meeting knew what I was.
I arrived at the meeting place. The exact place where Sarafine had stolen my life from me. With my recently aquired night vision (How did you think they hunted at night, stupid?)I could make out the minute traces of my blood not yet clensed by the rain, guarded by the leaves, for now. If I still had the ability to scream I probably would. Then, just as my watch beeped, informing me it was midnight, a figure stepped out from the shadows.
Hello, Gideon.
He nodded in acknowledgement. Do you have them? I was about to tell him he didn't have to sign, that I was mute, not deaf... but it felt good to have someone speaking my language for my change.
Not willing to show my gratitude, I rolled my eyes.No, I just wanted to hang out with you, hot-stuff. Of course I brought the damn things! Security codes for the infirmary and some of the more unknown parts of the school. Old storage rooms, basement, pool shed, ect... Most vampires should be out of the way. Visiting hours just ended. Tatsel is trying to find out who scrapped all that blood as well as... personal matters and Anna is tracking Lillian.
Gideon nodded, snatching the papers out of the purse hanging on my arm. He rolled them up and put them in his back pocket. And Luna?
I'm not her keeper. As I turned to walk away I heard him growl under his breath. I stiffened and he grabbed shoulders spinning me around.
"Two things," he said menacingly. "One, when it comes to Luna, take it seriously. "Two," he paused a moment, considering if he should bother. "I can tell now you're not deaf. Why are you signing?"
Staring him down, I jerked my arms away, and lifted my choker slightly, giving him a glimpse of my scar and fang marks. His eyes widened, ever so slightly. "They do that?"
I shook my head. Daddy dearest.
Grabbing my shoulders again, he leaned in and said, suddenly buisness like again, "I have what I want. I could end you right now, bloodsucker."
I signed only two words. Do it.
Then he stared at me. Just stared. I wondered if he knew how dead I felt. How dead I've felt since I was forced to give up on being human. Since I had seen that little girl's body hanging in that tree.
Then unexpectantly, he slammed his lips against mine in a kiss.
Where did that come from?
It was so chaotic, so raw... I liked it.
WHAT THE HELL, HEIKE?!?! THIS GUY IS LIKE SIX YEARS OLDER THAN YOU!!!
Then, in an instant, he was gone. With my head spinning, I layed down in the woods to stare at the stars through a gap in the leaves.

We's just stepped foot inoto the cabin and started looking around when I realized something and turned to Kai.

"Kai?" he turned to look at me. "How did he know when to grab them? You had security everywhere and codes only they knew."

He frowned. "I keep a copy of them on a hard drive in my office inside combination safe. My dad and I are the only ones who know the combnation."

Something was seriously wrong. "Are there codes to eveyrthing?"

"Yes," Axel answered. "we even keep codes for older parts of the school as a precaution."

"So absolutely everything in school has codes to it?" I looked at him.

"The only thing that doesn't have one is the door down in the basement of the school." he frowned ucertainly.

"So anyone can get in and out without getting noticed?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Are you kidding me!?" Kai hissed.

"You need to calm down right now and call Lila. Tell her to change all of the codes." I instructed.

"Everything is in that safe are you stupid?" he ground out.

"Boy," I stepped closer to him. "I may be alot of things, but stupid isn't one of them nad oyu know it."

"Kai, she's right." Axel put a hand on his shoulder. "As far as we're comcerned, she's the only one I think we can trust."

"Honey," I touched his cheek. "look at me."

He turned his face to me. "Lila's a good person, and I know you trust her, or else you woudln't have hired her. She's the first person you got to when you need something done right? And she's never let you down?"

"No." he shook his head.

"As headmaster of this school it's your job to keep these kids safe. You can't keep them safe like this. Lila's in charge while you're gone right? Then it's her job to keep those kids safe." I leaned forward and kissed him on his forehead.

He sighed and pulled out his phone. "Lila? There's been a major security breach, so you're gonna have to get your *ss in serious overdrive."

There was a pause."Every single codes we have should be changed as soon as yesterday. Tell the guards to do sweeps every 5 minutes until they are."

Another pause. "You're gonna need the combinaion to the safe in my office, it's on a note pad stuck to the bottom of the drawer, and for god's sake be careful and don't trust anyone, do you hear me? No one."

He paused. "Get that *ss in gear and get going."

One last pause and he hung up with a sigh. "Let's just get this prick so I can stake him."

"He's not a vampire." Axel frowned.

"He's gonna die one way or the other." Kai shrugged. "I like this way."

"There's the man that served his country, and the man I love with all of my heart and soul." I wrapped my arms around him and leaned up to kiss him.

"You better love me." he kissed my forehead.

"We better get going." Axel cleared his throat with a chuckle.

"Alright," I looked at him. "let's do this."

Raven seems to think that she's going to sacrifice herself for me this time, we all know I won't survive another attack. The attacker returns with so many weapons and torture devices, I can't even name them all. He walks over to the three of us. "So who wants to go first?" he asks with an evil smirk. Raven goesto speak, but I cut her off "Me!" I yell, tears in my eyes. "No!" she orders."You can't stop me!" I tell her, "I'velived my life, I'm 197 years old!You're still an actual teenager! Live your life as long as you can! Even if it's just a few hours more!" After arguing about it for a while, the attacker picks us both up by the throat. "Th vampire can die first," he says, "So the traitor can watch!" He throws Raven to the ground, and I think she hits her head on thewall. Then he walks over to the far side of the room and throws me at his feet. He pulls out a stake, and I know I will die. As my final act of defiance, I will fight him, until there is no fight left in me; it won't take long, but at least I can die with pride. I start struggling as he tries to grab me, he beats me practically senseless and grabs meby my hair, pulling me up to face him. Just as he goes tostab me, the door slams open and Ms. Wenchester, the headmaster, and a guy I've never seen beore walk in. "Let her go Gideon!" Ms. Wenchester yells. He goes to stab my chest, but I move, and he gets me in the side. I'm losing blood, fast. The trio starts to approach him, and he throws me against the wall, runs past them and through the door. They don't chase him, knowig that he will return again soon. The headmaster pulls Raven to her feet and helps her walk out of here, the other guy does thesame with Sarafine. Ms. Wenchester goes to pick me up, but I'm in too much pain. "You can't keep sacrificing yourself." she instructs me, "One day you might not make it out okay." She throws me over her shoulder, and I black out from blood loss.

We must make it back to campus pretty quickly,because I wake up about a half hour later, back in the same room, Raven and Sarafine on either side of me. Ms. Wenchester, the headmaster, and the guy I don't know, who introduces himself as Axel, the headaster's father, all sitting in chairs in the corner of the room, watching the three of us. I find my side has been bandaged up with gauze and what-not. It wasn't as bad as the last time we were attackd, thankfully. Apparently nobody told Steve or Domino about this as they are both, finally, getting some rest. Well that should be fun to explain in the morning. Raven rolls over, and tells me that if he comes after us again, that I am not allowed to sacrifice myself. Whatever, she knows I'll just do what I want and no one can stop me. I would do anything for my friends and she knows it. The three of us are instructed to get some sleep, the last thing I think is how hard this is going to be to explain to Steve in the morning. With that I drift off.

I wake up and sure enough, there is Steve! "What happened to you!?" he asks with concern, staring at my bandaged side. "Ha ha, well..... we were kind of attacked again last night, and um... the attacker, who's name is apparently Gideon, tried to stab my chest, but I moved and he got my side and then we were rescued; so that's what happened." I say with an akward look on my face, "I love you!" "Why didn't anyone wake me up!?" he demands. "Well you and Domino were finally getting some rest and no one wanted to worry you guys." I say. He comes and sits on my bed. "Well I'll always worry about you, you're my girlfriend andI love you." He kisses me. "Okay," I tell him, "But you're my boyfriend, and I'm worried about you, you're going to get sick if youdon't sleep. " We talk for a while, and he instructs me to get more rest, and I make him do the same. I watch him fall asleep in his chair, and then Raven wakes up. We talk for a while and then we both roll over and go back to sleep.

Raven

While Trinity and Steve are talking, Domino wakes up. When he does, he comes over to me and looks from me to Trinity to me again. "What happened?!" He exclaims, worried. As calmly as I can, I explain, "Trinity, Sarafine and I were captured again in the middle of the night by the same guy that cut me and stabbed Trinity. Turns out his name is Gideon. Mrs. Wenchester, the heamaster, and this guy named Axel rescued us. Gideon got away before we could kill him."

"Why didn't someone wake me up? I could have helped!" He paces around the room, and I say lamely, "Well, you were sleeping, and there wasn't much time... so..."

"I'm just glad you're safe now." He says, and squeezes my hand reassuringly. Then he goes back to his chair, watching me protectively.

After a while, Steve does the same and after some small talk, both Trinity and I decide to go to sleep. It takes longer than I would have thought to go to sleep, and I don't stay asleep for long. My dreams are filled with a sadistic Gideon torturing me and everyone I care about. He saves me for last. That's when I wake up, screaming.

Trinity is up too, Sarafine still asleep. Both Steve and Domino have gone own to the cafeteria for lunch. Mrs. Wenchester is snoring, still fast asleep. It looks like Trinity has had a similar dream. When we look at each other, I say simply, "I stand corrected. I AM scared of that guy."

"Yeah, me too." She says, "Maybe next time, you won't complain next time I sacafice myself then." She says jokingly, although we both know there probably will be a next time.

"No." I say. "You know what my dream was about? I saw him torturing and killing everyone I cared about, and made me watch. Then he tortured and killed me. I think I don't want to see you guys die. Plus, you sacraficed yourself for me. It's time I return the favor."

I wake up screaming after having a terrible dream about Gideon. A few minutes later Raven wakes up screaming as well and I know she had the same dream that I did. She starts trying to tell me that next time she has to return the favor of sacrifice, using her dream as an argument. "I had the same dream Raven, and I'm a lot older than you, and..." I pause, tears flowing down my face, "And you don't know much anout my past, but... When I was first turned, the guy who turned me, wanted to make me his assistant, kind of like Sammy was to Anna, but at first I refused and ran back to my house. He was there, and he made me watch him torture and kill my family, I can't go through that again. He threatened to do the same to me, so I agreed. Don't put me through that hell again, I know what it's like, and I can't do it again." She comes over to comfort me, and a while later Steve and Domino return, and Raven returns to her bed. Steve takes her place comforting me, because I'm still hysterical. I have to explain it to Steve, and Sarafine wakes up, so her and Domino are listening as well. After I finish explaining I am really upset, it was harde to tell the second time.

Everyone is comforting me, and when I finally calm down Steve goes and sits in his chair again. I roll over, cheeks still stained with tears, and try to go to sleep. I think about my last moments as a mortal, angry with my mom and aunts for paying more attention to their obsession than to me; storming out of the house to get away from them. Then it happened, master found me alone in the streets and bit me. It pains me to realize that my family died, thinking that I hated them, and I can't reverse it now. I can't sleep, so I roll over and find Raven is sleeping, but Sarafine isn't. We talk for a while and then I do it, I dare to ask the question on mine and Raven's minds, "Not that it's any of my business, but can I ask you a personal question?" She nods. "How did Gideon end up as the father?"

Chase

Another day, I wake up and sigh. Tatsel is gone, probrably somewhere where he can read, like the library. I get dressed and do my famous hair-do, before grabbing my bag and heading out.

I pass Pearl in the hallway, and she comes to my side, "Where's you're little gang?" She asks, glancing at me.

I shrug, slinging an arm around her shoulders, "Probrably still sleeping."

She flashes a smile, "awesome."

I nod and sigh, getting to my locker. She waits with me, leaning against the locker next to me, "So..."

I look at her, "Yeah?"

"What are we?" She asks, studying me. I shrug again and close my locker, basketball in hand.

"Whatever you want us to be," I wink at her before walking off. Surprisingly, I haven't seen Sarafine around lately. I've been skipping class, so that's probrably why.

I make my way to basketball practice, yawning.

Sarafine
I look at Trinity as she asks the question adn close my eyes tightly letting out a long low breath through clentched teeth. I look at her with aged eyes that were worn from the many years of being around this freaking planet for so long. "He was someone that I loved dearly but I was planing on changing him but couldn't go through with it and I didn't know how. See my old master loved me when I was a young servant girl and he didn't want to let me go so he changed me but he only loved me for my sweet blood. I was many centures old then when I met Gideon so I wasn't sure exactly what to do but I was for sure that I loved him and he loved me, only when the girls where born I had to tell him what I really was and that I didn't want to hurt him later on if I ever have another frenzy attack that I was having frequently. So I let him keep Roxanne and I left Asther with a normal vampire couple since she looked more like one than her sister did. But I guess when I left and then a few years later when Roxanne learned about me from him and left to find me and her missing sister he just decided to never trust vamps again."

Raven

After I wake up, maybe an hour after Trinity and Sarafine's talk, Sarafine tells me about it as well. At least it wasn't what I assumed, with that guy being so sadistic. But maybe this is worse. After she tells her life story, Trinity tells hers to Sarafine, which she has already told to me. Then, submitting to peer pressure, I decide to tell them mine, how my dad died in a car accident before I could remember him. My life in public school, and the qualms with my mother about how I dress and the music I listen to. I realize that my complaints about my mom are very trivial compare to what they have had to face. This gives me more resolve, however, to sacrafice myself for them if the time comes.

I realize that I have not done anything in this world, not really. Trinity and Sarafine deserve to live more, because they have been through hell already, were I have just touched the tip of the iceburg. Even though I try to make it sound noble though, I am also doing this for myself. Honestly, I don't know how I could cope, even if it was only for a few brief moments before Gideon would kill me too, with watching my friends die and not being able to do anything about it.

After a moment's contemplation, I voice my feelings. "Just so you know, when- because really, its not a matter of if, but when- we get taken again by Gideon, am going to volenteer to be first to die, or get tortured, or whatever." Protestations from them both. "No," I say, cutting them off. "This is my decision. You can do what ever you want, but no matter what, I'm going to volenteer."

"Don't expect me not to volenteer too." Trinity says, resolve appearent in her voice. We all go silent for a moment, until Sarafine notices a knife from breakfast next to her bed. Smiling mischeiviously, she says, her eyes gleaming with hope, "Maybe you don't have to." She holds up the knife.

"Look at us," I say, dampering the mood, forcing reality. "In this sorry state we couldn't make it five miles, much less back to campus from that cellar or even futher out."

"Yeah," Says Sarafine, "But we still have to try."

Luna

I was making my way to the infirmary when I ran into Heike. That'd been happening a lot when lately.

Hello heike.I smiled.

Top of the morning.she smiled back.

What are you up to today? I started walking.

She fell into step beside me. Just cruising around how about you?

Heading off for a quick visit to a few friends of mine. Nothing too big. I shrugged.

What friends? she asked.

I frowned inwardly. When had she ever cared about what I was doing? I glanced at her. Does really matter?

She looked at me for a long moment. Guess not. Well, i'll see you lates Ms.W

She tore off around the corner. Something was seriously wrong. Why did she suddenly have and interest in my life? Then something else occurred to me. Why was she still signing when she could hear? As I made my way into the infirmary I heard the girls.

"Just so you know, when- because really, its not a matter of if, but when- we get taken again by Gideon, am going to volenteer to be first to die, or get tortured, or whatever." Raven spoke.

Trinity and Sarafine began to protest.

"No," she cuts them off. "This is my decision. You can do what ever you want, but no matter what, I'm going to volenteer."

"Don't expect me not to volenteer too." Trinity says.

"Maybe you don't have to." Sarafine chimes in.

"Look at us," Raven's voice wavers. "In this sorry state we couldn't make it five miles, much less back to campus from that cellar or even further out."

"Yeah," Says Sarafine, "But we still have to try."

I step in. "No, what you're going to do is heal and leave Gideon to me and the Headmaster."

They all turn to look at me. I walk over to stand at the foot of Raven's bed. "It's out job to keep you safe, and we intend to make good on that."

"How?" Sarafine crosses her arms over her chest.

"By what ever's necessary." I shrug.

"You're willing to kill?" Trinity raised and eye brow.

"If it means keeping you safe, then yes." I nodded.

"Does the Headmaster feel the same?" Sarafine asked.

I looked at Raven. "This is his school. Wouldn't you feel the same way?"

"Hell yea." she nodded.

"Ok then." I sat down in a chair across from them. "So how are you all feeling?"

They all shrug.

"As good as anyone who's been through what we've been through," Raven shrugged.

"I wish I could tell you it gets easier with time," I gave them a tired look. "but sometimes it doesn't."

"It sounds like you speak from experience." Sarafine sat up.

"Too much if you ask me." I crossed my legs.

"You're full of so much anger and pain." Sarafine looked at me.

"More than you know." I gave her a sad smile.

"Um," Trinity started to say something.

"Yes?" I looked at her.

"If you don't mind my asking," she fidgeted. "what's the story on you and Gideon?"

"Nothing pleasant." was all I said.

"You know everything about us, and yet we know nothing about you." Sarafine looked at me. "How are we supposed to put our lives in your hands if we know nothing of them?"

I sighed and uncrossed my legs to move chair over to them. "You really wanna know mt beef with Gideon?"

"Can't be that bad." Sarafine shrugged.

"You'd think so," I looked at her. "wouldn't you?"

"So what's the story?" Trinity asked.

"Gideon raped me when I was 14 and I stabbed him in the chest with one of my Sai when he tried to kill me afterwards." I figured being up front about it was best.

They all went pale.

"How did it happen?" Sarafine looked like she was keel over.

Trinity looked like she was about to pass out and I didn't even know what was going on with Raven. I pulled out my Sai.

"He trained me how to use these." I touched the cool metal. "I was a quick study when It cam to all things deadly. From the moment I met him I knew I could never fully trust him. I was never alone with him. Something about the way he looked at me gave me the chills. The only reason i'd been alone with him was because he changed location for the next session. I didn't know that he'd owned this small piece of property on edge of town where we met that night. He told me that he'd fallen in love with me, but when I did't return those feelings, everything spiraled out of control. I managed to call my mom before he put his Sai thought it. He lost his temper, beat me like an animal, and-"

I took a deep breath breath.

"After it was over he tried to strangle me, but he hadn't beat all of the fight out of me." I looked up. "Having an FBI agent for a mom does come in handy every once in a while.''

Trinity and Raven were crying and Sarafine looked like a ghost. I opened up the bag i'd been carrying with me and pulled out three cans of mace and mini tazors. I gave each of them one before sitting back down.

"I remembered my mom giving me a small can of mace to keep on me at all times and found a couple of feet from where I was laying. Once I got a hold of it I sprayed like my life depended on it, because it did. He screamed like i's cut out his eyes. I took the opportunity to grab my Sai and stuck it in his chest. He fell on top of me right as my mom came busting into the room with at least a dozen other agents and just like that," I snapped me fingers. "he was dead. Or so I thought."

"Oh my god." Trinity cried harder.

"Well you wanted to know." I sighed feeling completely emotionally drained.

I stood up. "Make sure you keep them close by. This time you'll have something to protect you, and it could be the difference between life and death."

I turned and freeze dead in my tracks when I see Kai. He looked like he was ready to murder.

"I was going to you." I whispered.

"When?" he shouted. "After he raped you again and stangled you like he planned the first time!?"

I flinched. Ouch. My heart began to ache. "I was going to come clean when all of this was over."

"Now you don't have to worry about it." he growled.

"You know what?" my voice raised. "I'm sorry. No wait, i'm not sorry. Forgive me if I wasn't ready to tell you how when I was just a teenager I was raped and almost murdered by someone I thought was my friend."

It was his turn to flinch.

"Thanks for being so understanding." I brushed passed him on my way out.

He called after me, but I kept on walking.
