I was walking back to class when i heard a scream and ran in.

"So my fine friend who get's who for luch or would you rather have them for dessert?" the smile on her face was nothing pleasant.

"No one, Sarafine." I stepped in front of her.

"You know you sure do have nac for showing up when there's trouble." she commented casually.

I did didn't I? "Yea, I guess I do."

"I'm really getting tired of it." she hissed.

"Does it look like i give a damn?" I laughed.

She screamed like a banshee and launched herself at me. I would've stopped her, but Raven stepped in front of me and knocked the crap out of Sarafine. Asther came at her and Raven slapped her so hard she hit ground with a thud. Then for good measure I guess she kicked her in the gut.

"You two are so freaking stupid!" Raven yelled. "While you guys are acting like dumb and dumber, there are people out there just waiting for the chance to put a stake though your hearts!"

"We can take them." Sarafine hissed.

"Yea." Asther chimed.

"'Apparently not." Raven laughed. "If that was the case then Sammy wouldn't be dead."

Sarafine scoffed. "Sammy was nice."

"Yea she was." Raven nodded. "She was a sweet heart who didn't deserve what she got. And if they did that to somebody who wouldn't hurt a fly, what do you think they'd do to you?"

I guess neither one of them had thought about that. They both had this wide eyed shocked looked on their faces.

"Oh, and Asther," she looked at her. "you're finally friends with Sarafine. How does it feel? To get dragged into all of this crap she blowing up? It's gonna hit the fan hard if it hasn't already."

Asther frowned.

"Yea," Raven nodded. "maybe you should think about that next time you wanna do something stupid. Because Ms. Wenchester's right." she motioned to me. "There is a war coming, and what you're doing is painting a giant target on both of your backs!."

With that she walked off .

"Both of you," I barked. "Headmaster's office right now."

"But-" Sarafine started.

"But what?" I interrupted. "You were about to attack a student and Asther did."

"What about Raven!?" Asther screeched.

"You were both about to attack me." I reminded them.

"That's not fair!!" Sarafine growled.

"How is that nor fair?" I asked. "You two were about to gang up on her weren't you? "

I turned towards the rest of class. "Weren't they?"

A couple of kids and a few said yes. I turned back towards Asther and Sarafine.

"You can't blame anybody for your actions." I told them. "This wouldnt've happened if you hadn't hit Raven."

They both glared at me, but I know what Raven had said to them was starting to sink in.

"Get up now." I said slowly.

Slowly they stood and looked around the class. I guess what they did had finally sunken in. I sighed. I really didn't have anything against these two. I just wished they would slow down long enough to see that this wasn't helping anything. If anything it was making things worse. I turned to the rest of class.

"Get back to work, and you two follow to the office."

We walked in silence for the most part. When came into the office I turned towards them.

"Last time I was able to get The Headmaster to get you off on a warning," I told Sarafine. "but this time I don't think there's anything I can say."

She didn't say anything. Instead she just turned away. I gave them both a sad withdrawn look before bidding Lila a good day and leaving the office.

I watched sadly as I saw Asther disappear, and everything was normal again. My face burned with rage. What was she thinking of? Teaming up with Sarafine would prove to be disastrous.

I pulled my way through the crowd to stand face to face with Raven.

"Uh, hey... Are you okay?" I stuttered, twirling a golden-black pen in between my fingers.

"Yeah," she rubbed her shoulder thoughtfully.

"Yeah, okay then.. I was just checking.." I shrugged, tugging at my collar.

All of a sudden, it felt like I couldn't breath. I blushed, tucking the pen into my black jeans.

"W-why are you friends with Asther?" she pushed, stopping to stare at me, blinding me momentarily with her piercing green eyes.

"I-I don't know... just... I used to like her back in third grade," I finally replied, running my hand through my blond hair.

"Do you still like her?" she pushed again, frowning.

"I-I don't know," I replied, turning away from her green eyes. "How's Trinity?"

It's almost lunch time by now and Raven comes in to check on me. Oh gosh I feel so sick. I ask her how class was. She says it was fine, and when I ask if anything happened, she said no. Something about her tone tells me not to believe it for a second. She goes to her next class and I decide to try and make it to the cafeteria for some soup. I get out of bed and grab my crutches, I hop out of the room still in my pajamas. My big mistake was leaving the room during a class change. I am barely able to get through the halls on my own. I get to the cafeteria for lunch and order a bowl of soup, the lunch lady has to help me get to the table and I set it next to Raven. I eat my soup slowly and chat with Raven. "So seriously though, did anything happen in class? I know Sarafine, she probably started some drama." "Okay fine," she admits, "There was a fight, but it wasn't important enough to go into detail about. Besides, your sick, I don't want you to worry about it." With that Sarafine walks over and knocks my bowl of soup to the floor. I feel too crumby to do anything about it, and don't stick around to see if Raven does. I go to hop out of the room, but Sarafine stops me. "Where you going? I'm not done with you yet!" she yells. "Well I'm done with you." I say as loud as I can manage, (which isn't very loud.) With that I hop back to my room, very slowly, and eventually make my way there, where I go back to bed. A while later Raven comes in, when she actually should be in class. She fills me in on what happened after I left.

I looked up from my food when I heard the bowl hit the floor.  From what I saw it was obvious that Sarafine had knocked over Trinity's food.

Trinity got up to leave but Sarafine intercepted "Where are you going?" she yelled "I'm not done with you yet!"

"Well I'm done with you." Trinity responded in a slightly raised voice and left without a second look.

I was on my feet moving toward Sarafine before I even knew it.  I reached her and she started to say something snide but she stopped when I punched her full on in the face, I wasn't about to let her treat someone I cared about that way without retaliation.  I could tell that she didn't expect me of all people to do that so before she recovered I got in a few more blows.  When she got ahold of herself she sent me a good four feet back with a backhanded blow, she moved toward me but luckily some others in the cafateria grabbed her before she could finish me off, which from the way she glared at me with pure hate I'm sure she would have and that she not going to let this go, not that I expected he to. Before long a teacher arrived and we were both sent to the headmaster's office.

I snorted as Sarafine hit a few people. Geeze, what was it that people wanted? We were the highest type of vampires, and no one could get in our way. I watched as Sarafine went to sit down across from me.

"Stupid... they don't know what they're doing," I grinned, drinking a covered bottle of blood.

"I just hate them.. getting in the way," she grit her teeth, clenching her fists.

"They're just stupid. Don't worry about them, Sarafine," I replied, passing her one of my covered bottles.

"Thanks," she replied, gulping down the blood before banging on the table.

Raven explains everything before heading to class. That was really sweet of Steve, he's such a great guy, well at least to me, Sarafine obviously doesn't think so. I hope he's okay. Feeling even sicker than before, and still in my pajamas, I hop down to the headmaster's office. I bust in the door. "Trinity, what are you doing here!? You're sick, you should be in bed!" Steve jumps up, "Come on I'll walk you back to your room." He goes to start leading me out the door, but I refuse. "No! Are you okay, I heard what happened?" I told him. Then I glare at Sarafine. "He deserved it." She says to me. "Really?" I ask, "Do you really want to see what you deserve?" I start. With that the headmaster shoos us out of his office, all three of us have after class detention today for two hours. Sarafine continues on to her next class, rolling her eyes as she passes me. I'm starting to feel a bit dizzy, probably because I'm sick and still using a lot of energy. Steve helps me get back to my room, then goes to get me a bowl of soup from downstairs being all that I've eaten today is about three spoonfuls of the last bowl. He returns a few minutes later with the bowl on a tray with crackers and some orange juice. I thank him for everything and he leans down to give me a kiss on the fore head. He tells me to feel better and that he'll see me in detention later as he heads to class. I'm so lucky to be going out with such a great guy, I think as I finish my soup. I put the tray on my night stand and lay back down. I try and eventually, slowly, drift off to sleep.

I'm a bit confused on wether it's a schoolday or not, so...I'm just going to pick up where I left off. Hope that's alright.

Chase

Me and Pearl spent almost the whole night together, with my groupies, and some of her close friends. All I heard all night though that really bothered me was the whispers that went around the resturaunt. I mean, I wouldn't say that me and Pearl are...dating. We're close to that stage, but I just can't put my finger on it. I'm getting mixed signals, and I really don't know what to think at this point.

As the night ended, I dragged Pearl out of the resturaunt and into main campus. The lights were dimming, and the stars shinned bright in the sky. She kept on looking at me, with that amazing full-on smile of hers, and chuckled the one thing that I've always wanted to hear from a girl besides- You're hair looks like Justin Bieber's. She told me the one thing that actually made me think I'm not all jocks and football...or basketball, for that matter. She told me I was...Sweet.

Right when she said that, I stopped in my tracks and looked at her, mesmorized by her gaze, "S...Sweet?" I ask, studying her.

She nods, "Yeah. I mean, you're not the kind of guy that I'd thought you were when I first met you. Thanks for the fun night."

I flash that half smile of mine and blush - for literally the first time in my entire life - and don't know what to do. When we got to her dorm, I sensed she wanted something. She just stares at me, not walking in yet, and it finally hits me. The kiss dumba*s. How could you forget that?

Chuckling a bit to myself, I leaned in and kissed her softly, but then something hits me in the back of the head, making me swing around and punch whoever did it. A teacher. Oh crap. Swearing, I hesitate before waving to Pearl quickly before sprinting off, the angry teacher following right behind. I get to my dorm right in time and lock it, sighing as I just plop in bed and close my eyes. Well done, Chase.

I clench my teeth together as I slowly think about the day in my private dorm room. The fight against just Raven. It was wrong, and Asther knew it.. I could see it in her eyes.

It's just... I don't know.. I might like Raven.

I stared at the clothes laid out for me for the next day. No, I needed something just.. for her.

I wake up just in time to get to detention. I pack up my bookbag with my journal, a pencil, and a box of tissues; I throw my bookbag on my back, grab my crutches, and hop down to detention in my pajamas with a slipper on my right foot. I hop into detention right as it's about to start, and take a seat in the back next to Steve. I take off my bookbag, put the tissues on the upper right corner of the desk, and pull out my journal and pencil and begin to write a song; a love song. Steve looks at me and smiles. We pass notes back and forth, making small talk by written means. This is the first time I've ever actually gotten in trouble, but it doesn't feel like trouble since I get to be here with Steve. Things with Sarafine stay quiet through detention. Steve passes the note back.

I'll walk you back to your dorm after detention is over. I'll stay with you for a while if you want, take care of you, make sure you're alright.

He's so sweet! I think to myself once again how lucky I am to have him.

I'd love that! Thank you for being so great to me! I'm lucky to have such an amazing guy like you! I write back.

He quickly reads it and writes back:

You have it all wrong, I'm the lucky one.

With that detention is over. He helps me pack my stuff back up, and even carries my bookbag for me. What a gentleman! We head for my dorm when we run into Ms. Wenchester, she's with Raven. "What are you doing out and about? I heard you're sick, and you don't look like you're doing too good." Ms. Wenchester asks with concern. "I'm walking her back to her dorm." Steve says. "From where?" Raven asks. "We both got detention today." I say. I'm starting to lose my voice, and don't think they were able to hear what I said until Ms. Wenchester gets a worried look. "Why!?" She demands to know. "Just some drama in the cafeteria," Steve answers, "Raven was there." Ms. Wenchester starts questioning Raven about it and Steve and I continue towards my room. He helps me into bed and tucks me in like a small child. He moves the hair out of my face and goes to kiss my forehead when he stops. "You feel warm," he says, "You shouldn't have a fever from allergies." "Well, if my allergies go a while without being treated, I get really sick from it." I explain. He sits with me until I fall asleep. I wake up and look at the clock, I only slept twenty minutes. I look over at my desk chair and find Ms. Wenchester there. "Hey," she walks over, "How are you feeling?" she asks. "Worse." I am barely able to get out. That's it, my voice is gone. She takes my whiteboard off of the door and hands me a dry-erase marker and eraser.

What are you doing here? I write.
"I came to check on you," she says, "I heard you weren't doing well. I talked to the headmaster, Steve, and Raven. The headmaster is sorry for giving you detention, he didn't realize how sick you are." With that Raven walks in."Feel better." Ms. Wenchester says as she exits. Raven sits on her bed. "You alright?" she asks. I shake my head no. She looks around the room, then back at me. "We'll find our stuff, especially your medicine soon. I promise. Sarafine will pay for this. Ms. Wenchester agreed to help me look for all of it. If we can prove it was Sarafine, the headmaster said the best that he could do is give her a week of in-school-suspension. I know its not much but.." she trails off.

I know you guys are working hard. Thanks for all of your trouble. And sorry for being such a pain. I write before I roll over and go back to sleep. The last thing I think before drifting off is how once I'm better, Sarafine will pay this time. I don't even know what she gains by me being sick, but it doesn't matter, she's in for it as soon as I can handle it; maybe even sooner. With that I'm out.

All in all, it's been a pretty long day. And that's the understatement of the year. I count off the events of the day on my fingers. One, Sarafine attacked me. Two, Domino gave me Trinity's stolen pain medication, which he claimed had been in his friend Asther's room. Three, nice, quiet Steve attacked Sarafine at lunch. Four, Trinity and Steve got detention. And six, I think Domino might like me... and I might like him.

Lying in bed in my dorm room, I think about the possibility of actually going on a date with someone, and not just to say you went on a date with someone. And, I mean, I really like Domino. He's a really nice guy, he just hangs out with awful people, people that use him. And,I mean, yeah, he's got a lot of problems, but so do I.

By the time I am ready to go to sleep, I have resolvd that two things will happen: I will ask Domino on a date, and that Sarafine will pay. As I begin to relax nd go to sleep, Trinity wakes up. It's time for another pain med, and I can tell that she needs it. I hurry to the bathroom and grab the newly aquired pain medication, thanks to Domino, as well as a dixie cup filled with water.

After her pain medication starts to work, she reaches over to the whiteboard net toher. Her voice still isn't back yet. She writes "Hey." We make small talk for a while, and then the conversation turns to Sarafine and her cronies. We talk for a while about how much we loathe her, and vent about how much we really want to strangle her. She then talks about Steve's heroics and how he risked suspenion for her. She also tells me about how sweet Steve was to her for the remaineder of the day. That's when I tell her about Domino. She seems somewhat excited for me, but warns me about his connection with Asther, who then has a connection to Sarafine. I think her exact words were, "Be careful, Raven. He seems like a nice guy, but he's best friends with Sarafine's lapdog." I tell her that I will, and then she goes back to bed, or, at least tries to. I do to, but read my book in my bed for a few minutes before actually going to sleep. My head still spinning, I think, I can't wait til tomorrow. I've never felt this way before. At least, not at Fear.

I stare out ahead of the class then right as Luna is starting to drill into us a new girl steps though the door and turns her back to the class before I could get a good look of her. Ms. Luna looks up surprised a bit of a shock spreads on her face and she starts to trip over her words then the girl turns her one ice blue eye and one blood read eye looking back at me, my eye and John's eye. I then stand and walk up to her meeting her half way everyone curiouse til we're right beside eachother and you could see some resemblance between us, the long curly black hair the one blood red eye, the face though her features were sharper than mine. I sturter nearly breaking down right then as I speak,"Hello Roxanne" she stares back at me and right as she says those two words I loose it completely.

"Hello...mother."

I wake up feeling sicker than yesterday. Raven is already gone for the day, as class would have just started; I hope all goes well with her and Domino today, it'd be great if that worked out. I feel too weak to hop down to get some breakfast, so I lay in bed, and write in my journal for a while. At the time when first period would be over, Raven runs in the room. "You'll never guess what happened in class today!" She explains and gives me a minute to let it all sink in. I pick up my white board.

Really!? Oh my gosh! I really don't know what to say... So what happened with you and Domino?

"I didn't talk to him yet, but I will." She goes on to class and I roll over and go to sleep. Next thing I know I wake up and it's lunchtime. Wow, I slept a really long time, by this point I am starving. As difficult as it is, I grab my crutches and hop down to the cafeteria. I just missed Raven as she is leaving when I walk in, but I get a bowl of soup and sit across from Steve. Between feeling really sick, hunger, and the effort it took to get here, I am exhausted, and am starting to feel a bit light-headed, and the fact that it's hot in here is not helping. I eat my soup and Steve offers to walk me back to my room. I feel evenworse than before, and still light-headed. We get into the hallway and it's even hotter, I am feeling reallly dizzy now, and don't think I'll make it back to the room. I try to hop a few more feet down the hall when I black out.

I wake up in the nurse's office, Steve sitting beside my bed. "How you feeling?" I can't find the whiteboard, so I give him a thumbs down. Just then the nurse comes over and puts an ice pack on my forehead. Steve tells me that the nurse gave me some medicine earlier, so I should be better soon. My head is killing me, so I run my hand over it, to find a lump on my head. I look at Steve, puzzled. "You hit your head on a locker when you blacked out before." He informs me. The nurse makes him go to class and he kisses my forehead and promises to return after last period. He exits and I allow myself to get some more rest. I sleep on and off for a few hours and sure enough after last period Steve returns. The medicine is starting to work, and even though it's still a little scratchy. my voice has returned. "Hey!" I say with a smile as he sits. "Hey!" he says a bit shocked, "I missed that voice." We make some small talk and he tells me that Raven will be in here after drama. After I while I tell him to go, because I want to rest; but actually I just want him to stop worrying about me and take care of himself, he has homework and all that, and I don't want him getting in trouble because he spent the whole day here.

He nods and leaves. About 20 minutes later my eyes are huge with shock, and yes, a little bit of fear, when of all people, Sarafine walks in. "Aw," she says with fake concern, "Are you alright Trinity?" She picks up my new prescription. "I see you've got some new medicine. Too bad you still won't be in class tomorrow though, I've got a real surprise for your friend, Raven." "What are you going to do!?" I ask as loud as I can. "You'll find out when everyone else does. And you know the saddest part? You won't be there to protect her." I go to scream for the nurse, but Sarafine grabs me by the throat as if she's going to strangle me. She slowly releases and as I go to scream again, she punches me in the throat, cutting off what little bit of my voice returned. I grab the whiteboard that the nurse put on my bedside table.

You won't get away with anything. I'll warn her! I write.

She grabs the whiteboard from me and snaps it in half."I'd like to see you do anything now." With that she walks out the door, taking the broken whiteboard with her. I'm so frustrated I almost don't notice Raven walk in the other door. "Hey." she says. She tells me about her day and then sits with me for a while. After she leaves I shed a tear, Sarafine is right, I have no way of warning her now. Raven could definately take Sarafine one-on-one, however, Sarafine will make sure all of her friends are with her. How could I help Raven anyway? I mean look at me, I can't even take care of myself. The nurse comes to check on me, and notices my whiteboard is gone. She leaves to go get me a new one. Then I realize that Raven didn't tell me if she talked to Domino today. When the nurse returns and asks me if I need anything I write,

Could you send Domino in?

She nods and goes to get him. I won't ask about Raven, but I can tell him to warn her. He walks in, sloghtly confused. I pick up the whiteboard.

Tell Raven that Sarafine came in here, attacked me, and told me that she's going after Raven tomorrow. Tell Raven I need her to watch her back tomorrow.

He nods and runs out the door. Sarafine must have lied, because before Domino is even out of view, I hear a scream, and it sounds like Raven's.

Don't aim at success--the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one's dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself.
