As I am walking down the hallway, thinking about Domino's and my plans for a date this weekend, as well as Trinity's worsening ailment, I see Sarafine and her cronies, including Asther, appear seemingly from nowhere as they materialize from an ajoining hallway. I try t ignore them and go around, but they move with me. Then I try to turn and run as Sarafine smiles at me, a wolf's smile. Then I see other people, more of Sarafine's cronies, step out of hiding, blocking all paths of escape. She comes closer and I say, "You wanna fight? Come on, just you and me one-on-one. Or are you too scared I'll win? Because then you'll be humiliated by being beaten by a human?"

Unfazed, she says, "Here's the thing, sweetie. You're not the one to make negotiations here. You're trapped. And your attempts at attacking me verbally are in vain, sweetheart." With that, she grips my throat, and lifts me up of the ground, and it takes all of my effort to rip a scream from my tightly gripped throat. I try to kick out, but it is in vain. Soon after, I begin to asfixiate, and my vision begins to blur as my brian loses oxygen. My thoughts become fuzzy and vague. Then just as I'm sure I'm going to die, right here, right now, she loosens here grip, and for a second, I feel relief. Then I feel feet kicking me savagely, fists punching, and people spitting on me, the kicks and punches aimed for vital organs, the spitting aimed at my face. The lasst thing I see before I black out is a white glove, stained red with blood, fighting against the vampire horde.

I heard a scream and went into a sprint towards the sound. I recognized it as Raven's and pounded the floor. As I made my way there I saw Raven curled up in the ball on the floor. There was blood everywhere and it wasn't just Raven's. Another thing I saw was at least a dozen vampires including Sarafine lying on the floor.Someone dressed in black with white gloves was standing over her with what looked like a stake. The last thing I wanted person I wanted to save was Sarafine, but dang.

"Hey!" I shouted.

The hooded figured stiffened and turned slightly towards me, then he shot off down the hall. I followed after. I followed the figure into my room where he climbed down the tree outside of the window. I dropped down from the window at least 15 feet off the ground and kept going. The trail ended in the trees but I followed anyway. All of a sudden I was hit with a barrage of daggers. I blocked most but some did get me. They tore through my clothing leaving them in tatters. Some sliced through my hand as I caught them and others caught nothing but air. Then like that they just stopped.

"Why?" a male voice asked.

"Why what?" I asked back.

"Why help those monsters?" The voice answered.

"Because some don't deserve what happened to Sammy" I answered.

He laughed but it sounded bitter. "They're all the same as far as i'm concerned."

"So then that means all human are same." I quipped.

"Getting smart with me isn't the smart thing to do when you're alone in the woods." he tskd.

"I'm not afraid." I shrugged.

"You should be." he growled.

"I don't let fear rule my actions." my arms crossed over my chest.

"I find that interesting." he commented.

"And why is that?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Sorry to say I have to take my leave." he dodged the question. "but I do look forward to coming face to face someday, and now I bid you farewell."

The wind settled, and he disappeared with it. I made my way back to Raven and and knelt down to check her pulse. Her pulse was slower than I liked, but she would be ok. Most of the vampires here were dead and dying. Sarafine was still bleeding. She'd be dead soon if she didn't get help, but then again this was her fault. I guess her bad karma was really starting to catch up with her, and taking other people down with her. I patted Raven's cheek and called her name. She stirred with an Almost animal like moan. I pulled her into my lap and she screamed. at least one broke rib and and two cracked. Bruises, sprained wrist, and a dislocated shoulder. That's when I realized I was still bleeding out from the daggers that got me. My clothes were beginning to soak in it. I sighed and called her name again.

"Raven?" came Domino's voice. "Raven? Where are you? Are you ok? Speak to me!!"

"I've got her!" I called back.

Domino came around the bend of the hallway and stopped short about five feet from where I held Raven. His face went pale.

"Sh'e's not dead," I reassured him. "but we need to get her to the nurse."

He turned his gaze towards Sarafine and then back at Raven.

"Hey!" I snapped my fingers at him."Now is not the time for that. This girl right here in my arms? She's what's important right now."

He clenched his fists so tight his knuckels popped. I called Raven's name again and she stirred. Her chest began to heave and her arms shot out as if to fight off this invisible attacker as she screamed. If she didn't calm down soon she would hurt herself.

"Raven," I grabbed her arms. "it's me, Luna. Everything is fine no one can hurt you."

She screamed again. I turned towards Domino and told him to get help. He shot off like a rocket after almost setting Sarafine on fire with his eyes. After repeatedly calling her name over and over and telling her she was safe she stopped flailing. Her nails dug into my side as she buried her face in my stomach and began sobbing.

"Shhh," I brushed her hair out of her face and touched her cheek. "You're ok. You're safe for now honey. There's no need to be afraid right now."

I leaned down and kissed her forehead gently. A moment later Kai came running around the corner with the nurse and several other people.

"They're all dead except for Sarafine and Raven." I informed them.

"You need to do something about this." I told him. "It's getting too far out of hand."

His hands clenched as he looked at me. "I intend to."

After Domino shot out the door, I heard a few more screams. A few minutes later, Ms. Wenchester came back in, followed by the headmaster, Domino, the nurse, and seriously injured Sarafine and Raven. I practically jump out of my bed. Ms. Wenchester explains everything to me, and I actually admit that I'm terrified. I am shaking with fear from this unknown killer. What if he comes after me next. The headmaster must notice the fear in my eyes, because he comes over and sits on my bed and pats my arm, "Now don't you worry, I intend to take care of this problem immediately." He gets up and goes to his office. The rest of the night is spent with the nurse taking care of Raven and Sarafine. Before Ms. Wenchester exits later on, I stop her. "Ms. Wenchester, are they going to be alright?" "They're going to be fine," she says, "I don't see Sarafine will be much of a threat after this incedent, and after she recovers, I'm sure Raven will be fine. It's you and the other vampires I'm worried about now, this guy is dangerous, and he wants you all dead. But don't worry, Kai and I will see to it that you're all safe." With that she is gone, and I am worried; the entire vampire population at this school is in danger.
For the first time in a long time, I am actually afraid for my life. I am so scared I actually cry myself to sleep.

When I wake up I find Sarafine is still sleeping in the bed to my right, and Raven is just waking up in the bed to my left. To my surprise I find Steve sitting in the chair at the foot of my bed. It's about 10:30 in the morning, he should be in class. Luckily before all the drama last night, my voice did return, so I ask, "Why aren't you in class?" Then he explains, "They sent out a memo this morning that all classes are cancelled until further notice due to a possible on campus threat. I wonder what it is?" I start shaking with fear again and explain. He comes over and sits on the bed, holding me in his arms, rocking back and forth, he keeps kissing my head. "I won't let anything happen to you." He promises. Then he leaves to go get me breakfast. I turn over to see Raven is now wide awake. "How are you feeling?" I ask her. "Really sore," she says, "But they gave me some pain medication, so I'll be alright. How are you?" "To be honest," I begin, "I'm feeling better, but I'm scared." She understands. With that I hear a moan coming from the bed on the other side of me. "Sarafine," I start, "Are you okay?" "Kind of," she explains, "Wait, why are you being nice to me? We hate each other?" "I'm willing to put that all behind us if you are. Us vampires need to stick together at a time like this." I hold out my hand to her, and she willingly shakes it, giving me a smile.

Really I don't know what I just did, can I really trust Sarafine after everything that's happened? I am just going to have to trust my gut instinct, all of her friends were just killed, probably by the same person that killed Sammy, we're all in danger, it's just best to give her a chance. Steve returns with food for all of us and all four of us make small talk as we eat. At noon I am released from the nurse's office, and I go back to my dorm, scared to be there alone. I decide to go hopping around campus, since I haven't really been out in a couple of days. I, of course, go to the music room to take my mind off of things. After a while in there I return to my dorm for the rest of the day. I hop down to get dinner and go back to my dorm again. The room still hasn't been cleaned from the other day, so I straighten up a bit, and then I see it. I look out the window and see him, the guy Ms. Wenchester described to me last night. He's right outside. Without realizing what I'm doing, when he looks at me, I glare at him, showing my fangs. He smirks, and I turn away from the window. What did I just do? I ask myself out loud, because I really don't know why I did that. I pretty much just invited him up here, saying I can handle myself. When, we all know, I can't. A few minutes later there is a pounding at the door, my stupid self, slowly approaches the door and opens it.

For the restof the day, I basically just lie down in the nurse's office, with only Sarafine for company. We are both scared out of our minds about this killere running loose, she being a vampire and me being best friends with and dating vampires. I'm also worried that Trinity will get herself in trouble, knowing her and knowing what state she's in. I start to worry after she doesn't come back after dinner, and by nightfall, my worrst fears are confirmed: Trinity is missing from the campus.

Steve, bursting through the door, tells me in an incomprehensable jumble of words. Barely catching any of it, I say, "What?" He says again, all in one breath, "Trinity's missing, and I've looked all over campus, and she's not picking up her phone, and I think that lunatic's got her, and-" I say again, incredulous, "Wait- what?" As he starts to explain again, I hold my hand out to stop him. "Oh my God," I say, still not fully comprehending it. Mechanically, I say, "Go get Mrs. Wenchester. She'll know what to do."

Rushing out the door, Steve goes to do just that. Then, the nurse, who has been sitting at her desk, reading a book, which I saw was a romance novel- bleh!- gets a call to come to the weightroom, which is clear on the other side of campus, to bring a wheelchair for and injured student. The voice on the other end of the line is male, possibly the gym coach. Maybe not.

Not two seconds after she leaves, a hooded figure walks into the room, wearing a grey hoodie and sweatpants, the hood covering his eyes, making his features indestinguishable. Before I can scream or do anything else, I have a knife pressed to mt throat, and Sarafine is on the ground, a foot on top of hers. With his free foot, he kicks Sarafine savagely in the head, and I make sure she's still breathing. Sure enough, I can see the slight rise and fall of her chest. I feel a scream welling up in my throat, but he warns, "If you scream, I'l kill you right here, right now, you little traitor." The scream dies in my throat.

With is free hand, he pulls a roll of duct-tape from out of his pocket, and duct-tapes my mouth shut. I look at him questioningly, wondering why I didn't get the same treatment as Sarafine. Knowing what I'm thinking, he says maliciously, "You're worse than all of them. You betrayed us humans for them." He spits on the ground next to Sarafine's limp body. "So, for your act of treachery, you get to stay concious for the whole thing." He smiles, a maniacal grin.

Pullin out two trashbags, he stuffs us into them, and walks out of the office unnoticed. I can see through the fabric of the trash bag that there aren't many people here this late at night, and the people who are here just assume he's a janitor or a kid helping a teacher clean up their room. So, before we know it we are out of earshot of anyone on campus, and are heading towards the woods.

When I got to Ms.Wenchester's room she wasn't there.  I was in a panic and ran back to the infirmery, when I got there it was empty and there was evidence that the girls had not gone willingly.

I race back out of the office crashing into Domino as he is entering the infirmery, "Where's Raven?" he asks as I barge past him into the hall.  I make a snap decision and run outside just in time to se a hooded figure disappear into the forest carrying two garbage bags.

I'm just about to make chase when Domino grabs my arm "What is going on and where is Raven?" he demands.

"Raven and Sarafine just got grabbed by that physco that killed those Vampires and he already has Trinity and he just went into the forest and is now getting away!" I summerise all in one breath, quickly pulling away from Domino and charge into the dark woods where I saw the figure dissapear with Domino now following behind me.

He slowly enters the room. As painful as this will be, I lay my crutches on the floor, don't need them holding me back. "So the prey invited it's hunter, now why would you do that?" he asks, laughing a little. "Doesn't matter." I spit out. He leaps at me pinning me to the wall, his hand around my throat. Then he throws me to the floor, where I am kicked, multiple times. He has me by my throat again, except this time, he has his knees on my chest. He doesn't release this time. I feel something, probably ducttape, cover my mouth, but I'm losing consiousness and its hard to tell. Then I feel a sharp pain in my stomach. The last thing I am aware of is being moved, into something dark, it feels like a trash bag, but again, I can't be certain, but I'm almost certain that this is the end of me. With that I black out.

I wake up, leaning against a tree and see my attacker walking towards me with two trash bags. He empties the bags besides me, I don't even catch a glimpse of who it is, because he bangs my head against the tree until I black out again.

Chase gave me a soft kiss before the night ended. He felt something hit his head and we turned around immediately. A teacher. She frowned at us, and Chase hestitated, as he waved quickly and was gone after that. The teacher pointed towards my dorm and I gave her a slightly angry stare and left.

Opening the room to my door, I dumped my bag on a corner and felt on the bed, exhausted. Chase Hathaway kissed me. Hm. And all those rumors going on about us. Were we actually dating? I mean, weren't to that stage yet. I was soon asleep before I know it.

x--x (A few days later)

I was walking randomly over to the woods to just get some fresh air. We had some free time now so, maybe being alone will do. I wanted to open this diary I've been wanting to read forever that I found near a class. It was rusted and the lock was nearly broken. Some pages were burnt but only the ends of it. I could still read what was written.

I was deep into reading the diary when a strange man I don't know, came out with two trash bags on the other side of the woods. I stared at him wide, and hid between the bushes. I followed him quietly to see him banging Trinity to the wall. I saw her fall unconsious. I clasped my mouth, shocked. Who was he? Before he could find me, I ran through the thick forest, but my leg tugged onto a branch. I tried getting it out with all my strength but it was of no use. Getting a swiss knife from my pocket, I cut the branch off and ran back into the school grounds to tell someone.

Ahh! Sorry, guys. I'm back now.

I flinched back, startled at Tatsel's outburst. "I don't know who bit Chase," I explained, trying to clarify my question. "That's why I asked. It wasn't Sarafine, was it?"

"I don't think so," Tatsel mused, deep in thought. "She would have been more obvious about it." There was a great deal of venom in his voice--clearly he was still very angry at Sarafine.

"I suppose we're lucky," I remarked, being careful to keep my voice down. "No one really suspects us yet, as far as I know."

"True," Tatsel agreed. "You don't need blood, do you? I have some--"

"No," I replied. "I should be good for...oh, at least another two weeks. I should go check that, actually..."

I left Tatsel in the courtyard and jogged back to my dorm. I kept a calendar hidden in my journal for that very purpose--keeping track of when I had last fed. If I remembered correctly, I wouldn't need blood until next month, but it was always good to double-check.

I opened the door to my dorm--

And I had to cover my mouth to keep from screaming. The room had been ransacked, all my things, as well as Ms. Wenchester's, strewn all over. I ran inside and began tearing through my backpack, in search of my journal. To my dismay, it was gone.

I stood up, ready to search the entire school for my journal, when I heard distant, muffled screams. I sprinted outside, pausing only to lock the door, and ran to the courtyard as fast as I could. Students were running around in a panic, and I almost got run over as I tried to get to the forest. Then I ran straight into someone--Ms. Wenchester. "What's going on?!" I demanded.

Raven

About fifteen minutes after I was stuffed into a trashbag, I am dumped out of it, landing on my knees in the dirt and leaves of the woods. I realize that no one can hear us scream from here, even without the duct-tape. We are alone. Sarafine, still unconscious and oblivious, is dumped beside me. Surveying my surroundings (I read that that's what you're supposed to do if you're in danger, in a Wilderness Survival book.) I see that we are far out into the woods, and as I look around, I see Trinity, and I see the hooded figure banging her head against the tree. That's when it fully sinks in: we're going to die here. This is it. We're all going to die. Suprisingly, I'm not as afraid as I thought I would be.

Before I can think about it more, the hooded figure walks towards me, and jerks my hands behind me, resulting in an excrucating pain running all up my arms, from my broken wrist to my dislocated shoulder. He- I assume it's a he- ties my wrists together, and this time I manage to bite back my cry. The tears are there, though. He yanks me savagely up, and slams me into a tree. I try to squirm away, but it is no use. He ties another length of rope around the front part of my waist, then all around the tree, anchoring me there. I try to lashout with my feet, but he is to quick, dodging the blows. He then ties my ankles to the tree as well. He does all of this while wearing an insane sadistic grin. He's enjoying this.

He then rips off my duct-tape- wont need it now that we're deep in the woods- and I utter one word that falls heavily, helplessly, to the ground below. "Why?" He comes closer, until we are nose to nose.

He says, the malice in his voice like a knife, "Because... you decided to side with them. Vampires. Why? You're asking me why? Why did you turn your back on the human race? Huh?" When I don't respond, he yanks my hair, hard. "Huh?" He asks again, waiting for my response. Being the stupid person that I am, instead of answering, I spit in his face and headbut him.

Reeling, he grabs a wicked looking knife, and he puts what looks like a cattle- brander- iron in the fire that is burning, slowly turning it red-hot, evidence of more tortue to come. Looking forward, trying to look unfazed, I see movement in the trees ahead. Looking more closely, I see a white glove, Domino's, peak out from behind a tree. Another figure is behind the tree next to him, and from his height, I know that its Steve. Peering even more out of hiding, they lock eyes with me, and I try to communicate a message to them, the message saying, Turn back. Leave us. There's no way you can fight off this guy. Plus, that whole guy saving me from certian death thing is a little too damsel-in-distress-y for my taste. Even when I know I'm going to die otherwise, I can't face the embarassment of being rescued by Prince Charming.

Noticing my pleading eyes, looking off into the distance, he asks me, almost growling, "What is it, girl?"

Trying to play the part of little frightened girl, to buy Steve and Domino more time, I study my shoes and whisper, in a defeated tone, "N- nothing." I don't even have to put any effort into the quiver in my voice.

Assuming that my pleading eyes are directed at him, the hooded figure laughs, chuckling darkly. "Nope, not going to help you, you little triator rat." He spits at the ground in front of my feet, and continues, "No, you're getting everything that's coming to you." With that, he pulls out a dagger, swiping it first under my nose, then across my throat, just hard enough to draw blood, but not enough to kill me. Nothis is the torture before the execution.

I was walking through campus, with my groupies, when I see a crowd, or people panicking all around us. A girl practically tackles me to the ground, hovering around me before I realize it's Pearl, "Oh hey," I flash a smile, "What's up?"

"The..The girl, Cha. The girl!" she breathes, freaking out.

I study her, my posse looking at her like she's crazy. I watch her before taking her face in my hands. I make her look at me.

"Pearl, what girl? What happened?" She takes my hand and drags me to the scene. I freeze when I see Trinity uncontious on the floor. Raven is getting Tortured. Something in her eyes...

I take a step back and hesitate, not knowing what to do. Domino and Steve are watching next to me, horror in they're eyes. I hold Pearl behind me, that bad-boy part of me slowing down for a second.

Do something.

I glance back at Pearl before telling her I'm going to get a teacher. I run off to get Ms. Wenchester.

I was heading into school when I heard screams and people began to scatter like roaches I ran into someone but I don't know who. I get asked what's going on, but I don't stay lone enough to answer. I shoot off into the woods with daggers strapped to my thighs and my sais strapped down at my waist. Who ever had spoken to me probably tried to follow, but I was most likely faster than anyone in this school. There's no one else in sight as I fly through the trees. I hear a scream and veer in that direction. As I grew closer I saw there was more than just one person. Trinity, Raven, and Sarafine were there. Raven's up against a tree. and Trinity and Sarafine are out on the ground. I look to my right and see Domino and Steve standing behind two trees. I naviagte myself though ccareful not to break a twig step on anything that would my cover and make my way towards them. Domino spots me and nudges Steve.

"What the hell are you two doing here?" I whisper.

"Saving them." Domino replied.

"Are you stupid?" I ground out. "You wouldn't be able to defend yourselves against them."

"But you can." Steve chimed. "We can help."

"No," I shook my head. "you would be a liability. Instead of taking out these psychos, i'll be too busy trying to keep you two from getting killed."

They looked down. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw Raven turn her head this way. I motioned for her to keep cool. Her gaze went to domino and back to me, a silent plea for me to keep him safe. I nodded in reassurance. From what I could tell there were at least 6 other people there. I had about 10 silver daggers . The odds were in my favor. Good I was going to need all of the luck I could get.

"Ok," I turned towards the boys. "here what you're gonna do. I'm gonna take out these guys hiding in the shadows and and fight the last one while you untie them and get them to safety. Do you understand? No trying to fight them, just get the girls to safety."

"Not without me." Kai's voice came form a few feet to our left.

I turn to him wrap him in my arms. He gives me a bone crushing hug before letting his lips touch mine. I let out a small sigh and pressed closer to him.

"What are you doing here?" I ask when he sets me down.

"I'm the headmaster of this school and i'll be damned if I let anything like this go down." he tucked a lock of hair behind my ear. "Plus the Seal in me hasn't seen any action in awhile."

I turn to look at the boys to see them dumb founded by the fact that we're dating.

"Bet you didn't know that." I smiled. "Or that your headmaster her was a Navy Seal."

"Cool." they said in unison.

"Enough talk." Kai interjected. "Let's get these women out of here. Human or not it's still wrong to lay your hands on one. It makes me sick."

I nodded. "You take three, I take three and the last one is mine."

He nods and moves forward to kiss me. "Be careful, and I love you."

"I love you too." I smiled back.

He disappeared into the trees.

"Ok, when I yell, I want you to run straight for the girls, but until then keep low and silent. Got it?" I insrtucted.

They both nodded. I headed off towards the first guy and came up behind him. My hand closed on his mouth and my other positioned at the back of his head.

"Shh." I whispered. "you won't feel a thing."

I snapped his neck and gently layed his body on the ground. I dispatched of the other two efficiently. Just as I finished a four note whistle caught my attention. It was Kai signaling he was safe. Birds everywhere echoed the sound. I signaled back and stepped out to face the last one.

"Don't you dare lay another hand on her!" I called.

the hooded figure dropped whatever he was holding and turned to face me. I still couldn't see his face.

"It's so nice to finally see you again after all this time." I could hear the smile in his voice. "

It made me shiver. Why did his voice sound so familiar? I didn't like this at all.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

My eyes flitted towards Raven who was looking pale and weak. Her body was slouching again the tree.

"You mean you don't remember me?" he asked in mock shock. "Then allow me to re-introduced myself."

He pushed his hood off and and stepped into the moonlight. I took a step back in utter disbelief. Gideon was his name. We'd grown up together. Right next door to each other. I had just turned 14 when he told he loved me. I hadn't returned those feelings and what transpired after that was a violent outburst of rage. He came at me and I had defended myself. I walked away, he didn't.

"I thought you were dead." I squeezed out through my suddenly tight throat.

"Well you thought wrong!" he screamed.

"If I had known you were alive I wouldn't have left you there." I whispered.

"Well," he gave this manic laugh and turned toward Raven. "you didn't."

Before he could take a step I unsheathed a dagger and with a strong flick of my wrist, sent it flying his way. He dropped to his knees with a scream and looked up at me.

"Finishing the job this time?" He laughed.

"Yes I do, and this time," I pulled my Sai out. "I plan to make sure you're dead before I walk away."

He pulled out my dagger and tossed it to the ground with a smile.

"Ok," he stood up and pulled out his own pair of Sai and gave them a quick go. "but just remember that I won't hesitate. Will you?"

I did a quick warm up and looked him dead in the eye. "I'll do what needs to be done."

I watch from the roof as the drama goes down. People running in all directions, screaming, some crying. Ms. Wenchester, Domino, and Steve all running to the woods, following Trinity, Raven, Sarafine, and Psycho kidnapper dude. I found the whole scene oddly...pleasing. I breathed in the night air and growled under my breath as I felt my newly aquired fangs come down.
While I had managed to abstain from blood for an unusual amount of time, over the weekend my fangs had gotten a little...workout. At least I wouldn't be troubled by Ian anymore.
My eyes wandered from the chaotic scene below to the thing I had lugged up (although with my newly aquired strength it wasn't much of a challenge.) the millions of stairs to the roof. An extra large, wheelable suitcase. I reached over and slowly unzipped it.
Inside, was glass. Vials and bottles of all types, containing, literally, all types. Of blood. I could distinguish the O-positive from the AB-negative as easily as I could tell an apple from an orange. A grin plastered itself across my face. Slowly, being careful not to stain my white ensemble with any stray drops from a broken bottle, I lifted the suitcase, tipped it over, and watched as every drop of non-circulating blood at Paramen Acadamy crashed into the asphalt, staining it crimson.
Spoiler
GAH! TickSeed, I am SORRY! I waited until half-past forever for you to post and you did not! I could not wait any longer! Before you try to punch me through your computer, though, please take note: I DID NOT SAY SHE WAS DEAD! Do as you please from here. If you have abandoned school... well I won't mess with her again. Sorry! :(

I wake up just in time to see the attacker cut Raven. "She's not who you're after!" I yell at him "Leave her alone, I'm a vampire, I'm what you want dead!" I know this is probably going to be my death, but if it means that Raven will be safe, at least until help arrives, then it'll be worth it. He slowly approaches me, laughing meniacally. He pulls out a knife of some sort, a dagger I think. I struggle a bit, under the ropes that bind me to this tree, but he kicks and grabs me, until I can't move. Then, quicker than I thought it would happen, he sends it into my chest, sending a breath-taking pain. The world starts spinning and I know I'm most likely going to die. I look down, wanting to know what the pain in my stomach from before was, it's another stab, but it doesn't look very deep. He goes back over to Raven, but I can't tell what's going on, my senses are fading. I notice Ms. Wenchester starts fighting with the attacker, but he sends her to the ground with a punch. The headmaster jumps out, and helps her up; the two of them turn to attack the guy, but he makes a run for it, and gets away shouting, "I'll be back to finish the job! I'll be back when you least expect me!" As he is getting further and further away, we are all untied. As it is getting harder and harder for me to breathe, I fall straight to the ground. Steve tries to help me to my feet. I stop him. The headmaster is helping Ms. Wenchester, who must have hurt her foot. Domino is carrying Raven back to the infirmery. "G-go... go, help... Sarafine first." I barely get out. "Th-then, come back... to get, me." He tries to ignore my request but I make him do it. He must be thinking the same thing I am, that I'm most likely going to die before I get back to campus. He lays me on the ground and kisses my forehead, shedding a tear. He lifts Sarafine, and carries her towards campus. She wakes up and wears a look of concern as he dashes off with her. I, involunterily shed a tear, and as I get, what I assume is, my last look at the world, I see Steve running back towards me, and I'm out.

When I come to my senses, my eyes still closed, I hear machines and people eating. I open my eyes, and everyone's face lights up. Steve jumps out of his chair and runs over, tears of joy gushing from his sleepless eyes. The machines I hear are attached to me, though I'm not sure what exactly for. Steve tells me that I almost died last night; that my heart stopped once before we got here, they restarted it, and I had an emergency surgery and it stopped again. But obviously I'm not dead so.... Then he goes throurh my list of injuries, I need a stomach surgery tomorrow, I'm going to need a wheelchair because I broke my other ankle and my right arm, and I need a surgery on my left ankle, the one that was already broken. So I've been out from last night, and it's about 6:00 PM. Everyone is eating dinner. I ask about Raven and Sarafine. In addition to her sprained wrist and dislocated shoulder, she has three knife cuts and countless bruises from taking a beating; Raven turns over from the bed next to me and thanks me for distracting the attacker before he could do anything serious to her. Steve tells me Sarafine just has a few bruises as the attacker didn't do anything much to her. Even though they are both fine for the most part, they are staying in the emergency section of the infirmery with me, so they can have an eye kept on them at all times.

Ms. Wenchester tells me that Steve hasn't left my side, so I pull him down to me, and we share our first, real kiss. "I've never said this to anyone that isn't family, but I love you." I tell him. "I love you more." He says, and we share another kiss. He picks up a box and hands it to me. "What is this!?" I ask. Sarafine rolls over and looks at me. "It's yours and Raven's stuff I took from your room. Steve told me what you did when he was carrying me back here, so I told him where it was and he put it all in a box to give to you. I'm sorry about, well everything, and thank you for putting my life before your own." She's starting to tear up, "It means a lot." Ms. Wenchester sends Steve, Domino, and the headmaster out of the room; insisting they go get some rest. I ask about her foot, she says it was bothering her last night, but it's better now. She slumps down in the chair, as if to get some sleep, but tells the three of us to go to sleep, Raven and Sarafine didn't sleep much, and I need rest before my surgery tomorrow. Before I go to sleep I ask about the stabs from last night. The one in my stomach was deeper than I thought, it did some damage but it could wait until tomorrow; the one in my chest hit right under my heart, barely missing it, doing damage, which caused my heart to slowly give out which caused the need for surgery last night. After that conversation, she rolls over in the chair to go to sleep, and instructs me to do the same. I drift off thinking about how lucky I am to be here, as horrible condition as I'm in, I shouldn't even be alive, and I am thankful to be alive. With that I drift off.

I still wanted to know who attacked Chase. Whoever attacked him picked the wrong vampire to mess with. Chase was my claim, therefore my future-fledgling. Every vampire knows that a claimed human if off limits. Whoever attacked him was going the right way for a broken neck. I went around for a while, then returned to my room. First Sarafine compromises our age-old secrecy, now Chase was attacked and nobody's given me a name to the attacker. I needed a name and I needed it now.
Laying down on my bed, I thought about my last moments as a mortal. A young man so shy, I didn't know what hit me. One night, I was taken by surprise and begged for mercy when I was in front of another vampire. Instead of mercy, I was changed and there was no possible way of returning to my parents. I had no choice but to change everything about me. I got out of my shell and became the school bad boy and class clown. If only I could be mortal once again. I could stay out of my shell and finally have a chance to be who I wanted to be.
I looked at the door. Chase could tell me who attacked him. No doubt he would tell me. As roommates, we were supposed to tell each other anything. My vampirism, on the other hand, was a trust matter.
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man.

When I came to in the infirmary Sarafine was the only other person in here besides me who was awake. She nodded.

"How's your ankle?" she asked.

"Eh," I shrug. "nothing serious. Just a rolled tendon. The headmaster is just over reacting about it."

"You mean Kai?" she raised an eyebrow.

I blushed. "No, I mean headmaster."

"Mhm." she nodded sarcastically.

"How are Raven and Trinity?" I stood up and rolled my ankle around.

There was only a small amount pain left and the swelling had gone away.

"They're both doing good. Sleeping like babies."

"Alright then," I headed for the door. "i'm going to get some sleep. Don't let thw bes bugs bite."

"Hold on," Sarafine called. "I wannna ask you something."

I turned back toward her.

"Were you ever afraid?" she lookwd down and played with the sheets.

"No." I shake my head.

"Why not?" ahe asked. "Don't you fear death?"

"Why should I?" I counter. "Death comes for us all eventually. Fearing death is the same as fearing life, and what's the point of that? I've had too many brushes with death to fear it anymore. Now I face it head on. You've gotta live until you can't, because you never know when your time is up. That's why I don't let fear cloud my judgement or control. I see it as obsolete."

"Oh," she nods. "I see."

She fidgeted with the sheets again and bit her lips.

"Is there something else?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Um," she clears her throat. "thanks for saving me. Again."

I smiled. "Don't mention it. Fell better Sarafine."
"What is dead my never die, but rises again, larger and stronger..."
