The Golden Goslings

A YWS Tagbook

Roleplay Month 2024

Image

If you were around last year, you might remember the shenanigans that took place while finding the Golden Goose! PoetryGoos made a special appearance with some rhymes, as did rpGoos, and boiled cheetohs and yellow oranges and green hats and the infamous Narrator and Rick Astley may or may not have also been featured. In the end, the ywsers triumphantly cleared the Green Room and found the Golden Goose!

This year, the Green Room had yet again become overgrown with lonely works waiting for reviews, and the Golden Goose's three golden goslings had gotten lost in the vast tangle of green beasts! Thanks to the valiant efforts of two powerful review teams, Team Tricksies and Team Trappers, as well as independent reviewers and Team Tortoisers, all three goslings have almost been found! But now, those three goslings need a nice nest, possibly near a pond and some fields, to help them recover from their adventures.

Calling all ywsers to join in the quest to find the perfect home for the Golden Goose and her family! And as a bonus, vote in the poll to decide what we'll name the goslings at the end of our quest.

Onwards we go, roleplayers, writers, and beings of all kinds!

A note on tagbooks: Tagbooks are a special kind of storybook. Instead of making a character profile, the character you write for is yourself - and other members of the site! Your goal is to tag as many users (using the @ symbol and their usernames) as you possibly can in your posts, while also telling a story. In this case, you're telling the story of The Golden Goslings

Tagbooks are usually wacky, random and filled with memes, puns, and fourth wall breaks. If you're lucky enough to be tagged, or just want to pop in with a post of your own, you're in for a treat!

If you want to see what past tagbooks have been like, here are some examples:
mint, she/her

Post 1, in which a gosling flies onto the scene

With a wonderful potato-y addition by @Ley

It was a beautiful day on YWS and mint could see goslings in the clouds. By that, she meant there were gosling-shaped clouds. "Oh, that one looks like a Honk Solo for sure!" mint exclaimed happily, nudging @EllieMae, who had come up with the awesome puns for the site poll.

And then she saw an actual gosling in the sky. The gosling honked cheerfully as it made its way past in an interesting flying contraption that @JazzElectrobass would probably enjoy. @alliyah and her chickens started running after it. @Plume, @Quillfeather, @Avian, and @RavenAkuma joined in, carrying large bags of soft plumes and feathers, and @Snoink brought a crocheted blanket with a pig pattern on it. mint followed them, because who doesn't follow a gosling in a flying machine?

It looked like the gosling was heading towards the coast, where @herbalhour and @LuminescentAnt were hanging out with cups of tea and poké bowls. Based on its current trajectory, it would land slightly off-shore, on a ship crewed by other members of RP crew.

"Gosling incoming!" mint shouted.

@WeepingWisteria looked up, and @KateHardy took the opportunity to write "thou art the most sigma and most lit" on faer captain's hat. @Ley clapped her hands and said, "The Oracle of Delphi informed me of this last week! Now, to see how Zeus feels about a gosling in the sky..."

@IcyFlame and @winterwolf0100 froze a path to the boat, and the ywsers came running up to the ship. Plume, Quill, Avian, and Raven released the feathers just in time for the gosling to crash-land onto @SilverNight in an explosion of plumage and stars. Maybe @starlitmind was around here somewhere too.

The gosling honked happily and popped back up, unscathed. It waddled over to @Omni, who was looking over very important reports for some upcoming RP Operations. The gosling ate the reports with great satisfaction.

"We should probably find a good place for the goslings," @looseleaf commented. "So they can't keep eating looseleaf paper."

"Or keys or strings," added @keystrings, nudging the gosling away from their ukelele.

There was a crack of lightning and a roll of thunder in the distance.

"Must be Zeus," Ley muttered.

"Any lightning-interpreters here?" mint asked. She knew @Liminality, @inprisonforsparkling, and @ToastK were interested in linguistics. Or would it be better to ask the resident gremlin, alien, and ghost, @fatherfig, @AlienPoetry, and @APoltergeist?

"I think the lightning agrees with looseleaf," said @Mageheart, who was doing mage-ish things with a chocolate heart.

@Roxanne spread out a map of YWS on the deck. "There are some nice spots in the lands of Camp NaNo! The population has been booming there recently.

"There's going to be a lovely display of cover art soon, too! It'll be a beautiful place to live," added @NadyaStatham.

"What about... Canada?" @LadyMysterio and @TheMythMaster waved a giant Canadian flag. @MapleWay tossed maple leaves into the air.

"I know some islands," @yoshi said.

"I know some fish," @Shady declared.

"I know some potatoes," @Ley exclaimed.

"I know some bananas," @Carina vocalized.

@Razor started warbling and @fantasies started yodeling and @22Midnight started singing opera and @Meshugenah did spoken word poetry but in a Darth Vader voice.

Stop giving ywsers ridiculous sound-related actions. The combination of all of them is positively unnerving.

"Oh, hello there, Narrator." mint greeted the infamous Narrator of tagbooks. "Sorry, can't talk right now, because marshmallows."

Right on cue, a marshmallow came flying through the air. It had probably gotten inspiration from the flying pigs in @OrabellaAvenue and @LucidNightmare's duo. @RangerofIthilien shot it out of the air, then used magic to summon the arrow back and munch on the marshmallow.

Back on the beach, Icy had teamed up with @ScarlettFire and @LadySpark and @FireEyes and @Inferno to make a campfire to roast marshmallows on. @soundofmind was singing and playing music, and @Book was reading a book.

mint looked around at all the ywsers, then at the camera. "Hello there! Why don't you join us all as we eat marshmallows and try to find a home for the goslings? See you here!" Then she conjured up a bowl of mint choc chip ice cream and wandered off to get some marshmallows to add as a topping.

Lady huffed, Canada's rugged, supernatural, wide-range of various biomes deserved far more recognition. Although, she wasn't sure she really cared all that much, everyone made such a fuss about the Americans, it probably wasn't worth the, well, fuss.

Besides, this apparent mockumentary needed her star power. She tiled her head down, looking at the camera over the round rims of her glasses like a teacher, "you heard the mint girl, let's go." She scooped up a few goslings, cradling them in her arms,"let's go my darlings." @TheMythMaster lowered the flag," should I keep waving this?"

Lady was too busy cooing at the goslings to hear him.

@Kaia scooped up a gosling, @Rigo on her shoulder, curiously I looking in his mystical ghost form."Wait for me Lady!"

Myth dropped the flag and shrugged. “Tis’ gosling time is guess.” And ran across the ice-path to the big boat out there. It looked like the ones @KateHardy built in minecraft—by that he meant it was starting to levitate. @Kaia was ahead of him, and glancing behind he saw @RangerofIthilian @SoullessGinger and @FireEyes coming as well. @Avian swooped down from the sky where @SkyVibes was… well, vibing.

Abruptly Myth felt water dampen his shoes and looked down. The ice was melting.

it’s a hot day, I mean duh of course the ice melts

“Well I didn’t realise that!” Myth shouted back.

Fortunately Big Brother doggy-paddled by, nudging a raft ahead of him with his adorable little nose.

“Here, hop in.” He said. @momonster and @yoshi were already aboard. And, soon they’d bobbed over to the ship (now completely out of the water).

“Hey!” @LadyMysterio called from where she stood on the last little bit of unmelted ice at the end of the path. “Ya got a ladder up there?”

ilidian I mean, @Omni’s head poked over the gunwales above.

“Oh sure, here!” He replied, tossing down a rope ladder.

They climbed this swiftly, and up on deck Lady turned to Myth.

“What happened to the flag?” She said.

He shrugged.

“I left it behind.”

“Don’t worry!” Came a shout from behind.

@MapleWay climbed up the ladder, she’d ridden a giant maple-leaf across the water, and now held the flag in her arms. “I’ve got it!”

Myth looked around the ship, there were a lot of goslings, all fluffy and cute. Picking one up he asked it what it’s name was.

“Ryan.” It replied.

“SEE!” @Quillfeather shouted from nearby. “I TOLD ALL OF YOU!”

A little later they were underway, heading for, someplace. Myth wasn’t really paying that much attention. However, he was quite hungry so he descended below deck to see what he could find. The first deck he came to positively howled with clucking—it was entirely occupied by Alliyah’s chickens.

They always get the first class VIP treatment.

“Shush Narrator I’m not done.” Myth said.

Down in the second he deck, he heard the gravelly sound of someone sharpening a sword. Glancing around he found @ChieTheWriter sharpening a sword. @RangerofIthilien was also nearby, munching on something.

“Hey! Hungry? We found the lembas barrel.” they said.

Kate put the captain's hat sneakily back on @WeepingWisteria's head and read through all the post... *coughs took note of her surroundings. It was turning out to be quite the chaotic start already although mostly the discussions had revealed around goslings and Canada. Those seemed to go together pretty well. Maybe @LadyMysterio or @EllieMae had more thoughts about Geese. Or Canda. Or perhaps Canadian Geese. She wasn't very particular about that sort of thing.

And then Kate proceeded to desperately use me to pad out her post because she absolutely no clue what it was that wanted to do.

Mx.Narrator I have told you time and time again, that you are not to broadcast my thoughts out loud to everyone. Those are private things!

And I have told you time and time again that I answer to no one and that you should do better with thinking out loud quietly.

How does one think out loud quietly? Sounds quite impossible!

You're the one with a mind, figure it out. The rest of us will keep working on it at our own speeds okay. No need to get all touchy about the subject there. I'm sure you can be a bit more respectful than that.

So if you don't even know it, how do you know such an ability exists in the first place.

That is completely irrelevant to this entire conversation.

Kate promptly huffed and turned back to proceeding. That was enough post padding for now. It was time to do the most difficult task of all. Advance the plot... ahem... do something new and exciting! That is absolutely certainly for sure precisely and exactly what was said in the very singular moment. Really reaching far for that post padding there huh?

"Well you could say it was a pun-fish-mint!" Kate cackled as she rattled off a pun worthy of @Shady.

@Carina leaned over to hide @Big Brother's ears from the horror of that pan as @Omni started to realize all the important RP documents had in fact been eaten. Before that could result in any trouble, Kate bounded over to @Spearmint along with Wist and Ley. So captain, where exactly shall we set sail to? I don't think anyone reached an actual consensus.

There was a shrug or maybe it was agreement in some form of conlang or code. It was hard to tell when it came to mint. Something had to be done.

"Perhaps we send out @RangerofIthlien, being a ranger and all that. Perhaps with some music from @JazzElectroBass for company. I hear that Jazz music is quite good this time of the year. Maybe. I don't know. I'm not a music expert like umm... @looseleaf she did make a whole playlist. I feel like @alliyah and her poeting knowledge could also come in handy here. Not to mention her experience with handling golden geese in particular. Oh well, we'll find out next I suppose. I wonder who is going to post next.

That folks was foreshadowing.
