Oh what do you see?

E - Everyone

In "Eh" Poetry

PreviousNext

i’ve been staring

for hours,

minutes,

days - the glass stares back,

Oh what do you see?

i see red, sunburned red that

sticks and shines

in all the wrong places.

i’ve been reading

for hours,

minutes,

days - the numbers glare back,

Oh what do you read?

i read marks

dense and dark

stuck inside my lids in the night.

i’ve been listening

for hours,

minutes,

days - the thoughts whisper back,

Oh what do you say?

i murmur of disappointment

the faults left out to bleed -

let the wounds die.

i’ve been watched

for hours,

minutes,

days - the world watches back,

Oh what do you spy?

we spy a mess

a blot on the earth

a smudge left out to dry.

Hello there :)
Ahhh your poem is great, written so differently !
And for the review, I'd like to say that maybe you could add little bit of more emotions, because I'm a sucker for emotions. I like how perfectly you've described how a person is seen by the society, judged by norms.
But all in all your piece is a bit simple. Maybe you could expand it and also tell how you feel about being watched over. Must be exhausting right ?
I like the description, so apt and on point.
:)
Have a great day.
Also I was wondering if there's anyone who'd want to help with a piece I want to edit.

Hey I am here to leave you a review :D

I would like to say I liked this poem and I understood the concept of it however I do have slight issues with it, some of which may be insignificant in truth but I am just going to say what appeals the me most :)

First off I think the title of the poem should be "Oh what do you?" Omitting the word see would be make the title more relevant and also it seems like it makes the poem more open and able to fit all the ideas brought out in the stanzas.

Secondly, I like the way you split up the stanzas leaving the "Oh what do you..." as a standalone however, for this to be more effective and simply a bit more neat and easier to read there should be full stops in the stanzas before them rather then commas. I do however like that you were consistent with your punctuation and the lack of there of while using enjambments.

Another thing is that it seemed to be a little rushed and not that cohesive in ideas but that is just my opinion I think adding an extra stanza before the last one would make it better.

Continue writing and keep up the good work!
