Words flow like tottering wind
Sometimes stutter whirling around flaws
And like the relief of a breeze after a searing grind,
Words undo my buckles seizing me from draws.
-
Yet unlike the wind that lingers around every corner,
My vocals are too solid to vibe,
to ease access to words which are pounding harder.
Too desperate to emerge even as a taunting gibe.
-
Still words are my longing expressed through the ink
Which serves as blood for my aching need
Scribbling thoughts out which are all meant to link
Leading to wherever my soul gets to feed.
-
Like a feather carried off by the wind
Exposed to the whirling and whooshing
Words tumble off lightly too fast to reassemble; they bind.
Forming words with different meanings creating new leadings.
-
Words captivate me in a twisted passion
Tormenting me with the idea of chasing the wind.
For every lingering word that I catch
from this infusion of collisions flares a spark in my mind.
-
I seek to trap words which settle a smile
That flutters a tremor emblazoning a beautiful scar
But my hands touched lack of that tile
Resorting to having a darker canvas, dismissing me by far.
-
Although dark, the words are captivating
And through them I find an appraising urge.
An urge to swallow the bitter and continue chasing
‘Cause determination is what fuels my soul to emerge.
-
Every word has its own paradox
Which can be tough to break through
since there are different keys for every box
yet there is only one for the one which is true.
-
The wind withholds secrets,
Words withhold others.
-
I am a word catcher.

Hi!
To start off, I want to tell you how amazing this poem is. I was fascinated all the way through and I think you should definitely continue writing poetry like this. You have a very definitive writing style and it's spectacular.
In the first stanza, I don't feel like "flow" and "tottering" go well together in the first line. They aren't necessarily opposites, but they are descriptive of actions that are not alike. I'm not sure if you wanted the poem like this, but I think if you want a strong opening one of those words needs to change.
I think the rest of the first stanza is actually superb, though. Your word choice is phenomenal and I understand that this may have been done intentionally for the subject of this poem, but I would also like to say that it doesn't feel intentional. This poem feels effortless and natural and I love that about it.
Actually, I'd like to extend my last comment to the rest of the poem because you really did an amazing job with your word choice and lexicon and I'm highly impressed by it. I do think you should change the punctuation on the third line of the second stanza where it says "words which are pounding harder./Too desperate to emerge..." because ending it on a period is too forced of a stop and your flow in this poem is disrupted by it. I think you should change the period to a semicolon instead.
The third stanza, although I love your words, is a bit confusing and too abstract compared to the rest of the poem. There are two images that I see clearly: the ink and the soul being fed. Other than that, this stanza is lost. There is nothing tethering the reader to the poem here and a loss of meaning happens here.
I like the similes you use and the figurative language in general and I think you have a good grasp on how to use that type of language effectively.
One thing I have to comment on is the soft rhyme you try to use whenever you're rhyming "wind" with something else. Both times, the rhyme has been ineffective. I actually didn't know that you had a rhyme scheme until I got through the third stanza and realized that some words rhymed. Also, the fifth stanza does not have a rhyme scheme and it's off-putting when the rest of the poem follows that pattern. I'm not sure if it's necessarily a bad thing, though. Just a tiny bit of different can work wonders on a poem. I like the first and third lines in that stanza, but the "wind" and "mind" part is what is keeping it from being amazing.
I loved the way you ended this poem. It felt gradual but intense and I was very satisfied by the last line. On one level I felt like it came full circle, although I don't really know why, and on another I felt like something was resolved.
Overall, you are an amazing writer and I loved this poem. There are a few instances where you could work to make it even more wonderful, but those decisions are up to you to make.
Keep writing and good luck,
Dianne E.C.E.
YAY Stanzas! <3 I love poetry with stanzas.
First of all if you need help with spacing out the poetry this post will help: How to format your poetry on YWS
Secondly I'm going to go through each stanza and give you tips, and then lastly I'm going to do an overall. : ) Okay, here we go.
What I can suggest with all of this is that you try some visual poetry as well, I've been experimenting with some poetry and I find myself more and more drawn to visual aspects in poetry. Such as italics on maybe the word flow and wind, just to have a look. Or the whole thing could be in italics. I dunno, it just came to me when I started reading because your poetry is very image filled.
Now to some edits,
Words flow like the tottering wind, I'd suggest adding "the" I know sometimes it's not needed but I feel like simply because of the way "tottering" sounds it'll be better with "the" before it.
Sometimes they stutter, whirling around flaws I think that you should have some punctuation here to separate the sentence. I understand wanting some things to flow well, but the commas help.
Words undo my buckles seizing me from draws. - I find that this sentence is quite weird. What are you trying to say? I think it's important to know exactly what you're trying to say, and if you do it's important that it's easy for other people to understand. Poetry is laying everything down bare, it's making sure everything is exact beautiful, laced and even though it's confusion, not mistakable. There are a lot of poetry that I do not understand, that said they give me a sense of understanding. xP If that makes any sense. This sentence just confuses me.
Other than that though the first stanza is a good one and I like your imagery.
Second Stanza:
Yet unlike the wind that lingers around every corner,
My vocals are too solid to vibe, <-- I found this word strange. "solid to fly" or "solid to slide" They kind of rhyme with vibe. xP
to ease access to words which are pounding harder. Pounding harder than what?"
Too desperate to emerge even as a taunting gibe.
---
Still words are my longings expressed through
theink - I felt you should make "longing" plural and take away the "the" in that case, all for matter of plural.Which serves as blood for my aching need
Scribbling thoughts out which are all meant to link
Leading to wherever my soul gets to feed. Everything in italics I absolutely love! I like this part of the stanza, quite lovely.
---
I really quite liked the next stanza, so I'll just move on.
---
Words captivate me in a twisted passion
Tormenting me with the idea of chasing the wind. <--- I feel like you used the word wind quite a lot, I'd suggest using a different word.
For every lingering word that I catch
from this infusion of collisions, flares a spark in my mind. <-- added a comma.
---
Okay, I think I'm going to stop there. : )
I need to let you know that I feel like you are writing way too much. I feel like it's taking away from your beautiful imagery to include words like "emblazoning". I know that you mean to say something, but sometimes the less said says more. Especially because sometimes I feel like the way you formatted it. I really like the imagery, and I like the idea, but I suggest looking back on it, and trying to make it a bit more simplier. Don't ever try to make your work sound more sophisticated than it is. I'm not saying that's what you're doing, but I'm just saying for next time. Other than that I like this piece a lot. I'm a big poetry fan so if you ever wanna work with me, or explain to me what I didn't get or anything, just let me know.
Great work! I love your imagery and I hope you keep at it! <3

This seems to be an interesting opinion on semantics, an often scorned facet of human intelligence, fousing mainly on double meanings. The authoer seems to be speaking of how they found themselves with words that they couldnt release through oratory skills and so instead found an outlet in creative literation. And I must say you do use the english language rather effectively. In the last stanza you state that it is difficult to comprehend the contradictory meanings of words saying "which can be tough to break through". This line sort of introduces an unwelcome break in cadence to me so I would suggest that you hande it more industriously with "which can be tough to peorce" or something else that removes the essentiality of break through. Other than that it is a very interesting piece. I like how you speak of how the only way to use a word is with attention to context. Keep writing
Hey! Wisegirl22 here for a review.

I really liked this! Byezeez!
First of all, I think this doesn't look quite right. Please explain what you mean by this phrase.
"Sometimes stutter whirling around flaws"
And there should be a comma between "buckles" and "seizing".
"Words undo my buckles seizing me from draws."
I think there should be a comma after "still".
"Still words are my longing expressed through the ink"
The first and third lines do not rhyme when you say them out loud, neither do the second and fourth lines. Can you replace it with something? If not, it's fine.
"Like a feather carried off by the wind
Exposed to the whirling and whooshing
Words tumble off lightly too fast to reassemble; they bind.
Forming words with different meanings creating new leadings."
Again, these lines do not rhyme.
"Tormenting me with the idea of chasing the wind."
"from this infusion of collisions flares a spark in my mind."
Wait, so you go from formal, expressing your love for words vividly, to abbreviations? Not matching, kiddo. (You aren't a kid, but whatevs.
"Cause determination is what fuels my soul"
This was great, though, and the ending was awesome. Blunt, but awesome. The whole idea probably describes me as well.
