Thirteen Years

In Lyrics

Thirteen years
Feels like a lifetime
But now it’s over,
What will I do?
Thirteen years,
Think of the memories
Remember the good times
I’m gonna miss you

I can’t believe this time in my life is over
When I was younger it seemed like it would last forever
Thirteen years but now it’s over
And all that’s left to say is goodbye

Thirteen years
To perfect a routine
But now is changing
Into something new
Thirteen years
To get to know people
After all this time
I just want to say thank you

I can’t believe this time in my life is over
When I was younger it seemed like it would last forever
Thirteen years but now it’s over
And all that’s left to say is goodbye

And as we all
Go on our way
After thirteen years
I know we’ll be okay

I can’t believe this time in my life is over
When I was younger it seemed like it would last forever
Thirteen years but now it’s over
And all that’s left to say is goodbye

Time went so quickly
And I don’t know how
Where will I be
Thirteen years from now?

Thanks everyone for your feedback.
I'm glad you can relate to this song, and that you have put your own interpretation of this song, because i think that's what song writing is all about.
For me this song is about finishing school, which goes for 13 years.
Thanks again everyone!

Very nice! Now it has me wondering about my 13-year-old self *laugh*. The rhyme was not stressed like it is in other songs and poems; they fit in well. It sounds original, keep on writing! And make sure to practice spelling out your "okays", it helps keep the flow while reading it.

Hey! I thought this was really good :) I liked some of the ryhming and reptition. The rythm was quite good too. it sounded really honest and genuine too, like it was something that actually happened or is happening in your life. Good job :)

Poetry is my cheap means of transportation. By the end of the poem the reader should be in a different place from where he started. I would like him to be slightly disoriented at the end, like I drove him outside of town at night and dropped him off in a cornfield.
