Something To Remember Me By

In Lyrics

I know you don't mind me not showing up
I know 'cause my presence is quite enough
To ruin your perfect little party
There are no hard feelings between us
Just this unmistakable distance
I've been getting for myself lately

I bet you're done wishing over your candles
You bet my mind is still filled with these riddles
You've never been so right darlin'
Even our friends are asking if I'll come by
But hey, it's quite unlike me to reply
I've never been this bitter before

CHORUS:
How would you like it to hear your name in a song?
Here's your gift that I've been working on.
But still it wouldn't hurt to greet you happy birthday
Yeah, I don't think you'll even care anyway
If you are ready right now then say your goodbye
Well, here's something to remember me by

We never speak in words for months or days
'Cause everytime we would walk each other's ways
Our eyes do most of the talking
I wonder what you're doing this time at night
I bet you got what you want in life
While here I am loudly singing

CHORUS:
How would you like it to hear your name in a song?
Here's your gift that I've been working on.
But still it wouldn't hurt to greet you happy birthday
Yeah, I don't think you'll even care anyway
If you are ready right now then say your goodbye
Well, here's something to remember me by

I know you will never miss me
Keep in mind this song I'm singing
You'll love it when I will let you be
Sing with me this song I'm singing!

CHORUS:
How would you like it to hear your name in a song?
Here's your gift that I've been working on.
But still it wouldn't hurt to greet you happy birthday
Yeah, I don't think you'll even care anyway
If you are ready right now then say your goodbye
Well, here's something to remember me by

I know you will never miss me...

Hey!

I like looking at lyrics and I think this had a very poetic feel to it from the start so good job on that. I also think that the title is very good, it really caught my eye and has a lot of meaning in it, and can be interpreted many ways. So I could tell this was a kind of heartbreak, hurting song and I think that's great. I wonder, what type of genre would this be sung by? I was thinking of more a country sound, but I guess it could be any soft spoken sort of bluesy a bit tune? That said, I think that there are some things that could be changed to make the song more understandable.

"But hey, it's quite unlike me to reply
I've never been this bitter before." -- I think that this could be changed to:

"Even though, it's quite unlike me to reply,
I've never been this bitter before." -- or something like that. I say that because although but hey might seem like a fun thing to sing in the real writing of the song it doesn't really work. And has the potential to confuse people. So, just make sure you clarify what you want to say specifically.

So the chorus, it is interesting and I have nothing against the basis of it, I mean it makes sense and it could be a nice break-up song type of lyrics.

That said though, after the chorus there were some grammatical errors as Picklesole pointed out. I am going to point out the stuff I saw as well:

"'Cause every time we would walk each other's ways
Our eyes did most of the talking"

I know you are never gonna miss me... -- The "will" should be changed to "are" here as well.

So, overall, good job, it's seems like a song that has potential! And keep writing lyrics, songs are awesome! :)

Dream like a firefly.

Hey! So this is my first time reviewing a song, so don't take what I say with a grain of salt, I guess. Anyway, so I thought this was cool. It's a different style than poetry in my opinion, so you can do a lot of different things with the stanzas (if it was the same form I might actually be good at songwriting hehe) and I saw some things that worked here that wouldn't necessarily work as well in a straight up poem, so I thought that was really cool. The overall message I thought was still a little ambiguous, though I have no advice for you. The only thing I think that's a simple fix is this.

I know you will never gonna miss me

Change "will" to something like "are" or whatever you want really, it's just grammatically incorrect like this.

That's all I have to say, especially considering this is my first time reviewing lyrics. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Anyway have a wonderful day! :)
