Am I Beautiful?

I cannot stop running.

I am flying, the concrete but a gray streak beneath my Doc Martins.

The wind is cool, slapping my flushed cheeks.

My empty stomach aches, but I yearn for this feeling.

I beg for the ache that splinters my sides.

The hoarse breathing that shows me...

I am running fast enough.

So I will keep running.

Running on an empty stomach.

Because I cannot eat.

I choke on the smell of food as it shoves itself down my throat.

I grip at my skin, my fat, my layers of flesh.

Not fat, not skinny.

Not enough.

Never enough.

I will run, and run and run and run.

I will reach the horizon and more, I'll watch my body shrink.

As my guilt grows.

And my stomach growls.

Growls for food that cannot make it happy.

Because I cannot eat.

I cannot stop running.

Hey there, SpaceSnickerdoodle; it's your girl CocoaCat coming in with a review.
Wow, this poem's feelings are really raw and strong and beautiful. Each stanza has meaning and there aren't any that seem to just be fillers. I LOVE this! I'm just going to go through and give my thoughts as I was reading.

"I beg for the ache that splinters my sides." Oof, I can already feel the side stitch (that is what it's called, I believe)

"I will run, and run and run and run.

I will reach the horizon and more, I'll watch my body shrink.

As my guilt grows.

And my stomach growls.

Growls for food that cannot make it happy.

Because I cannot eat.

I cannot stop running."
I loved the feelings in these last few lines; it sums up the whole poem perfectly.

Overall, beautiful. Keep writing!

Thank you!^^ I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I want to start off by saying you are a good writer.

You know what’s interesting about today’s day in age, self acceptance has grown so much. You either love your flaws to stay the same and accept yourself or love your flaws enough to change for better and still accept yourself. The only thing that matters is your motive of choice. Are you doing it for you?

What I love about this poem is it’s so raw with emotion. I can picture myself in your shoes, running and feeling the growls and aches but the adrenaline and thought process to keep going. The excitement and will power a person should hold when facing a choice of change. I love the imagery

Keep writing

Thank you!^^
