Silence

Silence is sometimes the best remedy,

When it comes to good or bad days,

Cos' bad times turn good, and good may turn bad,

So keeping it silent is the best way.

Pour it down only to the closest ones,

Don't roam about pleading for others' views,

Craving for attention is a desperate act,

And then people will push you below their shoes.

Let me tell you, the world doesn't care,

Those fake consolations will never help you in the long run,

The world just looks for a reason to judge you,

With such people everywhere, they will just make fun.

Don't go about looking for sympathy,

And chanting the hymn of your despair,

The cunning ones will just take advantage,

And gossip with others about your affairs.

But that does not mean you keep it within you,

Your family and friends are always there,

They will feel hurt if you hide it from them,

Cos' they are the only ones who will always care.

I am not someone who can give great advice,

But I can tell you it really hurts,

When you know the person considers you close,

But doesn't speak a word.

Silence is the best medicine,

But when a medicine becomes too much, it's not alright,

When you know you will do anything to try and help them,

Seeing them suppressing their thoughts, is a heart breaking sight.

I love honest answers,

Whether good or bad, I try and listen,

Between the liars and the ones who only compliment,

For me, the honest people will glisten.

So don't turn deaf ears to my thoughts,

Silence is a weapon for the ones close to you,

But use it against this ignorant world,

Because here, not everyone's hearts are true.

What a beautiful poem!
You truly convey the all the feelings and emotions felt with silence and show the effects that a choice to remain quiet can have, upon you and your mental health - so well done! Reading this did actually bring a tear to my eye - your word choices, themes and imagery definitely bring a strong degree of relatibility so really well done. You should be extremely proud of this poem - you truly have explored the concept of silence in a thought-provoking, delicate and unique approach. Honestly, I have no suggestions of improvement - it is quite literally a perfect poem, so you should be extremely proud of what you've crafted here :)

Wow thanks for such an awesome review

Hello there! Via here for a review! So let's get to it!

The message you're bringing is very clear and concise with your choice of language. There is nothing there that complicates or blurs out the emotions that you're trying to bring. The way you use the idea of silence to add deeper meaning to the idea of being in this world and having a voice, is truly beautiful! It hits home right here. This poem has a lot of heart and well thought out ideas.

My favorite line in particular is

So don't turn deaf ears to my thoughts,

Silence is a weapon for the ones close to you,

But use it against this ignorant world,

Because here, not everyone's hearts are true.

and

That line right there really shines through!

The authenticity and the pure emotion is truly astounding. I'm very impressed too that you chose to do a rhyme scheme. I'm terrible at rhyming, but I'm happy that you kept it consistent and relevant to the course of the poem. ABCB is a standard rhyme scheme that works very well here. I also didn't spot any grammatical errors and punctuation problems. Great use of commas! Give yourself a pat on the back for that!

My only critique is the flow of the lines. Some of the lines seem a bit wordy which throw the poem off balance. Friendly tip: read your poems out loud, only then does the wordiness come really clear.

For example the line,

Seeing them suppressing their thoughts, is a heart breaking sight.

Is very muddled but the message is clear. So maybe with this line try to figure out a better way to state the thought with less syllables or more clear words. Rhyme schemes are hard to keep clean when lines become wordy.

Other than that, great job! I adored this poem. Keep it up!

Thanks a lot. I have kept in mind what you pointed out.

Hi Nightingale06,

Mailice here with a short review. Poems are always difficult to review as you look at them from different eyes and interpret accordingly.

I can see the message very well.
I feel like I sense a kind of melancholy when I read it. Sometimes it's not easy to make your way in the world and sometimes you don't have to. You described that very well in your poem. I like that you are trying to give a voice to those who don't have one or who are not listened to.

I especially like this line.

Your family and friends are always there,

They will feel hurt if you hide it from them,

It's one of those parts that I found most authentic. Family and friends are exactly what you described. They are a part of you as you are a part of them.

You have written a beautiful poem, with very realistic features in places. It makes you think about it.

Mailice.

Thanks a ton. It means a lot

This was a really beautiful poem which I think illustrates the loneliness of hardship. It's like distinguishing between fact or fiction, and sometimes you can lose yourself on the way. I loved the line 'and chanting the hymn of your despair' because it provokes sadness and grief as songs and tales. Accompanied by the line 'don't go looking for sympathy' really gives the idea that we search and search for somebody or something that can help us but perhaps family and friends are really the greatest healers. The one's who care, at least.

I also like the line 'Silence is a weapon for the ones close to you, but use it against this ignorant world' it summarises the fact that there can be misunderstanding and fear and suspicion with the people that live in this world and unfortunately, you have to arm yourself against them. Overall, I think that this poem is displaying a wish that this world could be fair and just, but the only kindness that we have is sometimes the sound of silence.

the message you wanted to give is just awesome. silence is really the best remedy. there are many peoples who always wants to see themselves in the top. and if you go to themselves, then by any means, they will nip your joy and happiness in the bud stage. but if we remain silent about our happiness, then they will never know and will also not be able to cause any harm to us. "Because here, not everyone's hearts are true."- i really loved this line. yeah, when closed ones harms us it causes such an injury that is really very hard to cure.
also when you are sad, silence is the best option. because, people might tell unwanted words while sympathizing that can hurt you. each and every word is beautifully crafted.

overall i have nothing to say except it is a thought-provoking, realistic poem. i hope this review will help you. can you pls review the third and fourth chapters of my novel?
