Say Something

In Poems

Silver-blue eyes firmly fixed on the floor,

Sneakers tapping the floor to an unknown rhythm.

I stare at the back of your head,

Stomach churning and nerves strung like wire.

You’ll look up occasionally,

Owl like eyes resting on my face,

And I’ll plaster on,

A hopefully reassuring smile.

The waiting,

Its tearing me apart.

You don’t seem to care,

But that’s because you gave up,

A long time ago.

You’re resigned to your fate,

But I wish you’d smile,

Or reassure me for once,

But I know it’s no use.

Just one word?

Would it be hello?

I sunk lower into my chair,

Running a shaking hand through my hair.

I’m sick of this.

The waiting,

Please, just do something,

Say something.

"Silver-blue eyes firmly fixed on the floor,

Sneakers tapping the floor to an unknown rhythm.

I stare at the back of your head,

Stomach churning and nerves strung like wire."
I don't think that you should say floor twice. "Silver-clue eyes firmly fixed on the floor
Sneakers tapping an unknown rhythm"

"You’ll look up occasionally,

Owl like eyes resting on my face,

And I’ll plaster on,

A hopefully reassuring smile."
Perfect stanza!!

"The waiting,

Its tearing me apart.

You don’t seem to care,

But that’s because you gave up,

A long time ago."
This one is making me cry... What did who give up?

"You’re resigned to your fate,

But I wish you’d smile,

Or reassure me for once,

But I know it’s no use."
"But i know its no use"... what is no use? You never said you were doing anything... ""But i know its not worth it" or something

"Just one word?

Would it be hello?

I sunk lower into my chair,

Running a shaking hand through my hair."
Again, amazing

I’m sick of this.

The waiting,

Please, just do something,

Say something.

Hi! BitterRosemary here to give you a review! Let's get started.
First off, this is an absolutely incredible piece. It pretty much sums up that feeling we've all had at one point or another but can't seem to put into words. I personally can connect with it, which makes it hard to do an objective review. Nevertheless, I will try.

This is a true poem. Not all "oh I love you so much" or "my heart beats only for you" but a genuine reflection of what you are feeling (I hope). It's so easy to relate to. The message of the poem is great. The emotion shows through in a very real, very rare way.

I love the last stnaza particularly because everyone has been there, witing, waiting, and you captured his so well.

This was over a 10 out 0f 10 poem!
I hope you never stop writing!

Hey LordGreenleaf, GreenTulip here to give you a review.

When I first saw the title I automatically, I thought of the song "Say SAomething" by A great New world. I guess that in my school's Coffeehouse Club, the song is too popular.

But anyways, I am going to go on with my ACTUAL review material...so it may or may not be scatterbrained.

As I read this, I imagined it too a be a girl and boy...maybe a crush, or two friends that have fallen out, in a classroom setting.

I feel like the speaker, it just angered and saddened with the person that this poem is about. I feel like they just wish for the person to say something, to move on, to get away from the sad depressed hole that they live in.

I loved the poem and I can't seem to have anything negative to say about it, so I shall leave me review on this poem alone here.

Thankyou so much GreenTulip for the review, I really appreciate it!

This was a very well-written and realistic poem and something I'm sure a lot of people can relate to. You really captured the sense of hopelessness for yourself and the person who gave up. We, as human beings, always want to help others through life, but sadly some people don't want the help or they don't think they deserve it. My favorite part was the third stanza. We get frustrated when we try to help others through difficult times and they refuse to listen, and that stanza caught the emotion perfectly. My only suggestion is that maybe you could add a stanza about how you understand life is difficult for them, but tell them that there is always hope. I think the poem should have a happy ending in my opinion, because things usually do get better for most people. I hope your situation works out. Best of luck.

Thank you so much for the review!
