Waiting

the hard back chair

digging into my spine,

tapping my foot

my gaze constantly at the time

thoughts, so many

worries swirling around

circling in my head

blocking out all sound

worst case scenarios,

how they haunt me

I try and keep busy,

but from nightmares you can't flee

and the people in those white coats

how menacing and cold

I'm afraid, so afraid

my future already foretold

Hey there!!

So, first off this is a topic I haven't read about it a while. I liked reading about this person's views on the asylum. However, I feel that his thoughts are a little too...sane. He seems to know just what he's talking about. I know how hard it is to write using someone else's thought process. Maybe you could have written it in someone else's poking of view. That way, you could show what happens through their actions rather than thoughts.

You know what they say. Don't tell me. Show me. :)

This was enjoyable and entertaining to read, though, despite my nitpicking.

Have a fantastic day!!

Thankyou for the review, and after reading it again, I agree.

I thought this was a very cool poem and I really like the creepy feeling that comes with a person waiting to be put in an asylum. I thought this was very cool and I have an odd obsession with asylums :). I really liked how it talked about nightmares that you can not flee from. I thought it was a cool statement about life. I really like your word choice because the words you chose gave it a very eery tone. I also love the mention of time especially when speaking of an asylum. Time is so precious to humans and this person is about to be locked away, meaning that time won't really matter. This is an irrelevant question but I am just curious. Are you thinking of a specific time period? If not it is totally fine I am just trying to think about the quality of life this person will be living. I also really like how you put in the imagery such as the white coats and the hard chair. I feel they contribute in a major way because it gives you a sense of what the speaker is seeing. I really enjoyed reading this poem. I thought it was a very creative idea and I have never read a poem about an asylum before. Good work I really enjoyed it. :)

Thanks fictionfanatic for the review! So kind and nice!

I appreciate you for this beautiful poem. Its a nice work.
I suggest you could add more things into this poem. You have told about worries and you are afraid but why, at least a line about it. about how those worst case scenarios are going to affect you. and what you future already tells.
I try and keep busy,

but from nightmares you can't flee

In these line you could have said, i try and keep busy, from nightmares i cant flee.
Just try to show more feel in the poem. Hope i wasn't too harsh.
Keep writing, love writing and Happy writing.
