I find the idea of a talking dog interesting. It has a good hook. There are only three things that bother me.
1. We learn Roy's name after we learn his age. I don't know why that bothers me, and maybe this doesn't bother other people. But maybe instead of the dog calling him a twenty year old man, she could call him his name.
2. The scene wasn't very well described. I knew they were in a tropical island... I knew they were in a restaurant, but I didn't know what they were eating, what it was like, anything. And the plane scene felt rushed.
3. I felt Troy didn't have much of a reaction to his dog talking. He had that moment of shock, and then just... Listened. If my dog started talking to me, I'd be considering calling the vet.
Otherwise, you did a great job writing this. I hope to see more!

Oh, forget number three, I missed the fact he knew what he was doing.

Once I was done writing the story, I did realize that something was bothering me too. So I just published it and waited for reviews.
Thank you very much! :)

This is fun, very whimsical. Also not very realistic, but that isn't necessary. The unrealistic aspects of this are what make it fun. That's interesting how you made the dog talk. For some reason I kept on thinking your main character was a woman. I don't know why. I want to say it was because of the tone of the main character, acting more upbeat and ebullient than a 20-year-old man might act. One thing I think is glaringly unrealistic in an odd way was the fact that this guy asked the young girl what the Granny's birth name is. Why the heck would he ask what the birth name is of some stranger's grandmother? That's like... borderline stalker. Just sayin'. The scene in the restaurant didn't really make sense. Yes, I understood that the people were all gossiping about the chef behind her back, but I didn't see any importance to that scene. Also, a chef wouldn't normally come out to talk to the customers.
Anywho, this is a fun story and a delight to read. Keep writing!

I think I should've added that the chef was the only cook they had...
I guess I agree with the random-birthname-asking incident, since you pointed it out.
But, anyways, thank you very much!
