Waiting

She waits for him.

Waits for him to let her in.

To tell her how he really feels.

But she's really confused.

When you love someone,

You want to tell them everything.

Or that's what she thought.

Don't shut her out.

Don't make her wait.

Tell her what's wrong,

Because she's barely holding on.

This is honest. I love it. Being in love with someone who doesn't love you back is nothing but waiting, hope and false confidence and waiting... Keeping your composure is an art and this captures that without being too in-your-face. Thank you for making this short and sweet, because reading loooong poems is so boring! This is short, sweet, and to the point. I'm excited to read more from you! Good job. I'll be following you and reviewing your other works soon. ^^

Thank you, I'm glad you like it.

Good work! I like the simplicity of this piece. However it is interpreted, this expresses the pain felt when someone you care about hides their emotions from you. I'm sure we've all experienced this at some point in our lives. I can definitely relate. I didn't intend for this to be a Frozen quote, but “love is an open door.” It's hard when someone we love closes their door. Keep writing!

Your quote made me smile so it's okay. Thank you and I definitely will keep writing.

I'm not going to lie. When I read this poem it reminded me of the way how me and my ex-girlfriend acted to each other. She had a lot of problems, but so did I. I tried to make her feel like she was loved in the beginning of the relationship, but her low self-esteem, breaking her promises and her unwillingness to change made me grow distant over the course of eight months. When she finally decided to change I had already begun mine. This poem has actually touched me and I'm rarely ever sentimental. So I have to thank you for making me see the error of my ways. I won't try to get back together with her because that ship has already sailed but I will keep this poem in mind for my next girlfriend. So once again thank you for this beautiful poem and have a nice day.

You're welcome. I am so glad that I could help you in some way. And thank you.

When you love someone so much that you're terrified of losing them, so you never truly give your entire self to them no matter how much they prove their love for you. I think that this poem aimed to highlight that, in my opinion. Works like this just speak to me in a way that shows me that it's completely normal for anyone to feel that way. What's even more comforting is the fact that most of the time, once your significant other learns of your reservations, they will more than likely forgive you for your fears and help you to understand, as far as they can explain, that you mean as much to them as they mean as much to you. Beautifully written. Was this based on something that occurred in your life? If so, I urge you to open up to that person. I hope it works out well for you, and if not, you survived. If someone cannot accept you for who you are, then they are not string enough for you. Great poem. Keep writing! :)

My boyfriend had a serious depression and sometimes he shuts me out & that's where that poem came from but it's all good now. Thank you.

I'm definitely connecting with what you're describing in the poem--this is an experience common to pretty much every girl, I think! This idea could be made into a good short story if you wanted to, but as a poem it works well. I agree with retrodisco and Sleeplessend about giving the poem more imagery and "showing" some things instead of "telling" everything.

Emotions and feelings are the main drivers of your poem, but those are such abstract concepts... I think some concrete images would help to give a punch to the emotions. I'd also be very interested in learning the details of this relationship. I'd like to know more about who they are, their past, some memories, some specific motifs, or some images that bring back memories, and what's really going on inside the head of the girl (or inside the boy's head, for that matter--although the subject of the poem is her not knowing, so maybe you can include her worried speculations about his feelings).

I don't see any grammatical mistakes, so kudos to you! (Grammar mistakes really turn me away from reading something!)

I enjoyed reading your poem. Keep writing!

Hello... here to give my two sense on this little piece here. I agree with the below commenter (not even sure that is a word) about the poem giving too much. The way you wrote it and the feeling I got from it was more that of a novel or short piece. I believe if you wrote this as a short story and continued more in depth with the feelings and psyche of the girl. I felt it would have been more captivating if you wrote it that way and perhaps you should :). All in all though I enjoyed reading it, you can never go wrong with these kinds of poems they are always a pleasure to read. Keep on writing and keep on posting. :)

Hola! Retro here for a wee review!

II'll do some suggestions, because nitpicks don't actually exist here, then talk about what I thought worked well, okay? :)

The thing is your very much telling the author everything......I feel as though the poem could do with a little more umph. Like you've got a really strong grounding but some nice poetic imagery would work well in this sort of poem. Or if not imagery just maybe stronger emotion. For example you say "confusion" as an emotion but you could bulk that out sooooo much more. Maybe really delve into the confusion and open it up! But that might just be me. But to be honest this is the only thing that this poem is lacking, a bit of umph to really make it pop.

Because the truth is you've some really nice emotion, and I feel your pain! And we get a lovely emotional connection so that link is already established which you do well I just feel as though it could do with been blown open a bit more to really anchor us to you. And I hope this works out for you if it is a real life experience!

Keep up the good work,
here if you need me!
