Writer's Block

In Poetry

The writer’s block
Is a persistent disease
Of every writer’s mind

It lurks in my mind
Waiting to pounce
On any poetic phrase

Shattered fragments
Are all I have left
Of the potential masterpiece

Is there any cure
For this infection?
I would die for it.

The writer's block that I am always plagued with is not a complete block of ideas, only a partial one. I get an idea for maybe one line of a poam, but then I can't seem to write anything more than that. Apparently it's not the same for everyone, so that's just how it is for me. I actually was plagued with writer's block at the time, so it was out of frustration that this one came to be. Then I managed to eradicate it from my system. I rarely suffer from writer's block anymore and this one was written quite a while ago, I thought I'd just put in on.

Hey, Etc, welcome to YWS!

So this was cute, but it confused me a bit. Writer's Block is generally when a writer can't think of anything, right? So if someone had writers block, how would they have any poetic phrases to begin with to pounce on? And how could it leave shattered fragments of a masterpiece when Writer's Block prevents any masterpiece from ever existing? You don't really explain the emotions here-- I can't feel the frustration, and I don't believe the narrator would die for a cure simply because the poem isn't that drastic or passionate. If you want us to believe it's that huge of a problem, make it a huge problem within the poem by using interesting language, imagery, emotions, etc (hehe!) ;) Also, reconsider centering your poem-- it comes across as sort of gimmicky. Let the words speak for themselves!

PM me for anything.

I really like this poem! It explains writer's block perfectly. It's not too short but not too long. It almost has the impression of a writer who is writing this and has writer's block. I haven't found any nitpicks so that's good. I love the metaphors and how you explained it! Basically I loved this piece and I see you're VERY talented! Keep Writing (PLEASE!)!
