"Beep! Beep! Beep!..."

My ears spring up in terror,
My eyes open with a painful shudder.
A monstrous fear fondles my head.
My muscles communicate : "Darling, stay in bed!"

Groggily, I reach the bathroom sink.
I see the Examination Monster give me a loathing wink.
My hands tremble over the toothpaste tube.
For, I just forgot the formula for the volume of a cube.

Fearfully, I pull the belt around
my white-and-green pinaform
I suddenly lose control of my tie.
Thirty-two is two raised to the power of four or five?

Indices and Algebra plunged into battle,
Calculus came for me in full throttle.
Geometry and I were betrothed enemies still,
while Trigonometry was the Lion, and I, the kill.

Breakfast couldn't slide down my throat.
My intestines twisted into a kindred knot.
Through the window laden with dust,
I viewed with dread: My yellow school bus.

I shut my eyes .
Drowned the butterflies.
"You'll be okay..." , my Mommy told.
O Lord! What fate do you propose to unfold?

In a whirlwind,
I reached the Examination hall.
With every step forward, my confidence took an epic fall.

It was only for three hours.
It seemed so ne'er , yet so far.
I stitched together my waning threads.
Now, I had to make amends.

I fought harder than Napoleon.
I was valiant like Genghis Khan.
I persevered through every inch of the paper.
My ordeal would end in just about an hour.

"Tringgg! Tringgg! Tringg!" went the school bell.
It was such a mellifluous melody
that it humbled my atrocious agony.

I floated out.
I had ended my uphill bout.
I was happier than most of many,
Albeit in every way.
With that came to an end
My Examination Day.

Hi it's Ferruccio here for a review so,
I just wanna ask you a question: Is it based on real life?
The abstract pieces are slightly contradictive, because I don't think a test would have both powers and calculus in it, plus they are different stuff. I mean, you wouldn't put ((12^7)+(2/3)pi7.5)/71 with gz(Ck(z-a)^k) together, would you?

the hour bit is surprising because it doesn't elaborate on three hours turning into one.
Examination day is confusing, because sometimes tests are spread out - there are lots of minitests, miniassessments and minibossassessments (which are sometimes called unit tests or summative assessments).
Otherwise, good job! I hope this gets out of the Green Room soon!

Hey, Dogs here to review!

First off I really want to say I really liked this poem! It was very well written. I also hate examination days, and I know how you feel as well. I'm doing state testing this past week and this oncoming week at school... Anyway enough about me, let's talk about your poem shall we?

Note: If I say anything in this review that sounds harsh, please don't take it personally. I'm only trying to help and don't mean to be rude.

My muscles communicate : "Darling, stay in bed!"

I'm not sure if this is on purpose or not, but I'll go ahead and point it out anyway.

"My muscles communicate : ..."

You have the colon spaced from the "communicate" is it spaced like this on purpose or did you space it by accident? Just wanted to point it out in case you didn't mean to do it.

So, I'm going to mention the rhyme scheme I noticed in this poem.

In some parts of this poem, you have a wonderful rhyme scheme, but in other parts the rhyme scheme died out.

Rhyming can be very hard in poems, but if you are going to rhyme, then I suggest you rhyme throughout the entire poem. When the rhyme dies out, it seems as if the poem gets off flow, and it loses rhythm.

Those were the only things I really noticed.

You have an amazing poem here! I really liked it.

Something good I noticed was your title. Your title is supposed to drag the readers in, and make them interested in the reading. Of course the title isn't everything and you shouldn't judge a work by its cover, or its title, but titles tend to draw readers in to read the work in the first place.
I thought you had a good title, which is what drew me in to read this poem! I came across it in the green room, and decided to read it. I'm glad I did.

This poem is really, really good! I'm glad I got a chance to read it!

Keep up the great writing,
Love,
Dogs

Thank you . I appreciate it immensely . Hope to read more of your reviews :)

Anytime! I'm glad the review helped! :D
