Little Sister

In Poems

Curious brown eyes
Tiny nose
Rosy cheeks and dimpled smile
Framed by short brown hair,
brushed from your eyes
Oversized pink shirt
Pink cat pajamas
Bare feet

Arms on hips
Tilted head
Burst of laughter
Story book read
The Cat in the Hat
My little Pony
Strawberry Shortcake
Hugs when I’m lonely

Trips to the Park
Glowing Stars on the Wall
A tiny stuffed leopard,
named Soccer Ball
because of the spots of course

A chair pulled into the kitchen,
Whenever I start to bake
Tiny flour covered hands,
Cookie dough smudges on your face

So gentle and kind,
You’ll always be there
My dearest little sister,

I love you

Hello! DragonNoir here for a review!

*cries* This is so beautiful! I can partially relate because I have a little sister too (except she's a reincarnation of Satan and isn't as calm as I'd like her to be). You really did your sister proud with this poem. The structure is amazing and so is the language used! If I were to say anything which you could do to improve, I think you should keep doing what you're doing, because it brings out very beautiful pieces of writing like this.
I hope my review helped somehow! :)

Hello!

I certainly do agree with everyone else in that this is an extremely cute poem. I love how you structured the stanzas into different parts about her. One is about her personality, one about her physical characteristics, etc. and I find that very interesting. Also so much literature about siblings is so focused on the hatred or anger siblings seem to feel toward each other. It's new and refreshing one about the love siblings feel for each other, not the hate.

I do wish that your poem was a bit more descriptive because you do such a great job describing the sister! Like a bit more of a description of her personality or your relationship with her.

This was an extremely cute and loving poem and I love it! Continue with your writing and please keep sharing it with us!

I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the review!

Hey, Dogs here to review!

I really liked your poem! It was so cute, but you had a few errors that I'm going to point out! I will start off my telling you your nitpicks and mistakes, then we will go to the good part of the review!!! Let's get started!

*Note: Please don't take these nitpicks personally, I'm only trying to help. I want you to grow and learn from your mistakes, we all make them! I make them all the time. If I sound rude or harsh I apologize in advance*

1)

So gentle and kind,
You'll always be there
My dearest little sister,

I love you

I didn't think there was much wrong with this, in fact nothing at all, I just want to make a suggestion. I suggest saying after "My dearest little sister" I would say I'll always be there for you then say "I love you" I feel like that would sound better. What you have is fine, and I like it, I'm just saying I would add one more line. I don't know why, but it just sounds better to me.

2) The entire poem rhymes but the first and last stanza. The last stanza is fine, but it's the first stanza. Since you rhyme though-out the rest of the poem, I suggest changing some of the words in the very first stanza so that part of the poem rhymes too!

I can't think of an example off the top of my head, but I will let you know if I think of one.

3) This is a suggestion, but the poem might feel more emotion of how much you loved your sister if you added figures of speech (similes, metaphors, etc.)

That's about all I found, now on to the good part of the review! Yay!

1) I love how the words you choose came directly from your heart, and how you love your little sister no matter what!

2) I liked the rhyme scheme!

3) I love how it's easy to read, it's also short and simple, sometimes those can be the best poems!

4) I really liked how you described your sister in the beginning, your word choice was absolutely wonderful!

I'm glad I read your poem! It was so cute, and I loved it!

Keep up the great writing,
Love,
Dogs

Thanks for your feedback! The rhyming in some of the stanzas came about on accident, so if you have suggestions for how the top stanza could include rhymes I'd love to hear them!

Alright, I can't think of one off the top of my head, but if I do, I will be sure to let you now!

~Dogs

I meant know! Sorry!

Heyy! Thank you so much for this cute read, I enjoyed it thoroughly predominantly because of this theme of the poem.

“Having a sister is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of. You know whatever you do, they’ll still be there.”
-Amy Li

#This short poem is nicely split for the reader to visualize each sentence ,Thus making it more constructive.

#Simple choice of words which have the potential to encapsulate such strong emotions in sparks of sentences like "Hugs when I'm lonely","So gentle and kind".

#I noticed that these words come directly from your heart.

#Elegant description of your sister, You have talent.

Suggestions:
1) It maybe can be more emotion-triggering if some metaphors are used.

To sum it up, Nicely done!
It was a ride from :) to :D
I'am waiting for you next work.
This style of writing is very prudent about reader's emotional drifts.

Thank you so much!

Hi there,

I would first just like to say that I found your poem to be cute, if not the cutest, piece of poetry I have ever seen on this site. It is such a beautiful yet simple tribute to your sister. The simple rhyming scheme mixed with the matter-of-fact tone used in Stanza One almost seems quite childish and naive, which some what reflects the nature of your sister.
I love how you seem to ignore the use of typical poetry conventions, such as Literary devices and extended metaphors. It makes your poem stand out, and I think that's honestly adorable.

Thank you so much for your review!
