i may be gone,
but these boots
leave an imprint.
i'm sure you can
follow me home.

x

october as
a means
of remembrance;
i shall return, if
only in the
candlelight

quick pre napoweek poem before i leave to return:

basics in missing
so, did you... miss me? did my
breath leave enough of a smudge
on the glass as all the other great people i
proceeded? present vs precedent; i
snatch back all the fireflies because
these goddamn constellations sure as hell
won't make themselves, let me chart them
in the chilling air for you.

and She will come wash away the sin. (10/25/25)

love which produces eternity,
healed a bitter born storm.

her kiss could clear sickness,
like what a salve used as a sun gifts mist.

come shine, and recall some
heaven town of ecstatic dream--

soar from swimming; toward blue serenity or whisper.

from it,
her sky felt only but love.

the tongue of dormancy (10/26/25)

--& i am so beside myself,
lying here on shredded grass ((
so i will grow roots )) becoming
grounded in what remains of
oneself.

i do not know where the line between
dirt and human intermingles
but maybe somewhere along the
way i became less sentient because
i can't feel the weight of
my voice anymore.
only lingering, fleeting sound.

i am a recluse at heart. i don't
think i've actually wanted anything
too big in my life yet. and i
think i'll try to keep it that way.

biting my cheek-- (( i will stay
silent )). bury me in my anti-ambition.

need is one part
grief and one part
hunger.

i hunger for
what i ought
to have.

need is one part
grief and one part
hunger.

aughgh you had me on the first line, herb. i always appreciate a short, blunt poem, and this one hit the mark.

ALSO can we talk about poem 2? "biting my cheek-- (( i will stay
silent )). bury me in my anti-ambition." so gorgeoussss i can't get over it
it is always another hand that guides me.
