Life is a banana peel and I am the fool who dared to tread on it.

  • i'm writing a poem addressed to my great grandmother? it's unfinished but i might publish it later (on yws)
    Spoiler! :
    for nani ama

you're there in every breath i take, you exist in every piece of my skin and bones. your ghosts roam with purpose around the house, and sometimes i hug them at night to feel warm. your blood is still warm in me, it throbs and pulses.

i read cells in biology now, when you died i wasn't even a cell. i wonder what you'd say if you saw me now. what would you think about this girl wearing a mask of your flesh. i wish you could be proud of the woman she's becoming.

i feel close to you in a way i can't even began to express. you're hidden in me, somewhere deeper than skin. your fingerprints and identity is carved into my cells, into my dna. do you wonder from your grave? who is this strange selfish girl!?

sometimes it hurts to know that you're in my mind, but i'm not in yours. in a strange kind of way, we are each other. but we couldn't be more different. my body was never my own, but my soul is.

i see old photographs of you, you have your arms around two little boys. i keep getting caught up in the stupid struggles of teenage life without meaning to, and wonder what gave you strength. how did you find that unquenchable love inside of your soul, while i fished inside mine only to find scraps of what could be?

i inherited your strength before i was born, and it transformed to a weakness inside me. the fire comes as short bursts of passion and anger and sentimentality. one day, i'll let go of my strength to gift it to those who are unborn right now. more and more of it changes to weakness every year.

Coffeewriter That’s utterly beautiful and raw<33

If in the Writing Olympics, gold wasn't for you,
and silver, and bronze evaded you too,
please remind yourself the value added to your crew,
the work that you tried, and the strides anew!

If you didn't meet your word count for LSS,
I encourage you to take a deep breath -
after all, we're writing for fun, with friends,
and isn't the whole story what matters in the end?

If your name didn't change to dark cyan,
if you missed a day of tortoise in the month's span,
remember you can only do as much as you can -
and the authors still appreciate their latest reviewing fan!

If your novel has slowed, and the writer's block is strong,
if your imagery is cramped, and you feel your poems don't belong,
we all go through valleys; rests are part of the song!
So while you're taking a break, let us cheer you along!

If for RevMo this year, you're busy with work, life, or school,
if you won't add a hundred reviews to the reviewing pool,
we still want you here, we still think you're cool!
You know what? You're welcome and valuable just being you!

Red! I haven’t seen you in forever- just came to say hello

  • if i wrote my interpretation of a classical poem for ...super secret project... would anyone be willing to review it? or give me any advice for writing something like that?

khushi17bansal I'd be willing to review it! not sure how helpful i'll be tho
    Sep 4, 2024

APoltergeist I could review it, but I also don't know how much help I'd be. I don't do much with reviewing poetry pieces. It'd probably be more grammatical errors.

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
— Brené Brown
