So I ended up not writing anything else in October and abandoning my plan to ramp up for NovMo. Husband and I went on a little trip and I didn't feel like writing while we were gone and then this last week I was getting back into the swing of things at work and also didn't write. Which is fine!

My word count coming into day one of writing is 6068 (which obviously doesn't count towards NovMo)

Now I'm starting off NovMo with the gauntlet of traveling to my home state for a baby shower! So I'll probably be behind all weekend and will have to play catchup next week.

My scene today is a true mess. I bounced around a lot and blobbed out those words in about 30 minutes (lol and it shows). Hoping to have a little more time to write tomorrow and to fill in some of the big holes in this scene!

Temporarily being in a different time zone helps so much because I woke up super early and was able to get some morning writing in before this baby shower! I probably could've gotten to the target today but I like where I stopped.
Cleaned up the mess I wrote yesterday a little and finished that scene and started the next!

Okay, I should be done traveling for the rest of the month?? And this should be a medium busy work week, so I'm hoping to slowly play catch-up during the week!
I was TIRED after my drive home today, so as much as I wanted to get to 10k today, it just wasn't in the cards.

The bracket count today is high because a lot of new characters were introduced in this scene and I literally only have two names picked out for the entire cast and everyone else is [friend] or [name] for now! (which will get confusing very fast but Future Problem)

well, perhaps tomorrow will be the day I start my catch-up journey. I started writing way too late today. (lol she says this like tomorrow *isn't* election day in the US). but after tomorrow my work load *should* lighten the rest of the week and then I really MIGHT start my catch-up journey!
once I finally started writing, the goal was to get past 10k for total manuscript words and I finally got there!!

perhaps this weekend I'll also start naming people.

Well, that's about par for the course for presidential election night in the US.... lol it was a valiant effort to mute the commercials and write then. This is probably average for how much I've written on past presidential election NovMo days.

But for real I'm a little farther behind than I'd like to be so it's really time for some catch up soon......

*Named some essential people other than my MC and LI (I crack myself up with my subtle pettiness sometimes and did so with naming two people)
*Figured out some of the challenges for this baking competition show & did more research than was really necessary on specific recipes my MC and LI make (and all the other contestants)
*Finished act 1 and loosely plotted act 2

While I'm PAINFULLY behind on the word count, I kind of feel like adopting the same mindset I had in 2020 when I actually hit the 50k goal. 2020 was like a never-ending domino of bad and I was like you know what?? *something* is going to go the way I want this year. 2024 has been bad in a different way, but I *really* want to finish a draft of this book before the end of the year and I'm going to delulu believe I'll still hit 50k for this month.
