If you answered yes to any of those questions, you might want to take a look at the September Free Verse competition that opened today! Let me know if you have any questions or if you want to collab! (:

EllieMae wrote:Wow, can you believe that it is nearly September already? The August Free Verse Competition flew right by, which means that it is time to announce our next months contest! This month, we are going to do something a little bit different. Instead of only giving a sentence or phrase as a prompt, we will be finding inspiration through an image and a question! The prompt for this month is...

    Where do rainbows end?

I hope that you can find inspiration in this image and questions. All poems can be submitted here! Remember, you can submit up to five poems, you can collab with other writers, and you can submit poems in any text or visual/audio format! This contest will be open from August 30th until September 21st.

Do you want to be a judge? Do you have an idea for next months prompt? Do you have an idea for how we can improve the club? We would love to have your help! Please PM @EllieMae. Judges can still submit poems :D

Happy September, happy writing, and happy weekend!! Winners from the August contest will be announced in the next week.

Hello everybody! To help prep for RevMo this September, the mods created a fun, easy little bonus challenge to hopefully make any review experiences a little more fun this month! Here are the guidelines:

You all create your own custom review template inspired by one of your works or characters.

The structure of the templates can be a twist on the YWS'more format, or totally your own! However you think would be the best method of reviewing for you. We only ask you jazz it up a bit with that custom theme! And of course, you don't have to use this template in your actual reviewing, though we would encourage it for fun's sake!

When you've made your template, please post it in our [url pending] Template Challenge Thread! You'll be rewarded with a custom review banner for your very own ;)

There's a sample review template in the spoiler below, and of course, if you do have questions, please don't be afraid to ask! :D

This challenge will run from August 28th to August 31st. Happy writing everybody!

    Spoiler! :

    Dear Witch or Wizard...

Hi! My name is [username], also known as [nickname], and I'd like to review your lovely work using my Harry Potter method! Let's jump right in...

    Hufflepuff's Interpretation

[First impressions and your understanding of the piece.]

    Slytherin's Critiques

    [Recommendations for improvement, if any.]

    Gryffindor's Cheers

[Favorite moments, reactions, what was done well.]

    Ravenclaw's Analysis

    [Concluding thoughts and departing words.]

Banner credit for both this challenge and the writing one to KateHardy
Sample review template credit to RavenAkuma

P.S. The writing challenge is still running as well! ;D

Hi hi everyone! September is RevMo here on YWS, and in preparation for that review-a-palooza, the mods thought it'd be fun to have a writing challenge! Here's how this will work:

    1. You all write a short story or poem featuring
      1. An antagonist as the hero
      2. A hero as the villain
      3. An antagonist becoming the hero by the end
      4. A hero becoming the villain by the end

      or some combination of that!
    2. You publish that story/poem on YWS and tag @Spearmint, @KateHardy, @RavenAkuma, or @EllieMae in either a comment on that work or in a wall post with a link to the work.
    3. You are sent 200 points from the YWS piggy bank to make up for the publishing cost. It's essentially a free work! 8)
    4. Other YWSers get to enjoy reading a cool story or poem and reviewing it~!

This writing challenge will run from August 25th to August 31st. Happy writing!
