NaPo 2021




Getting that gif up there was a tough job

First of all, reason for the name-


Ok so where I live we usually have these seasons:

1. Summer
2. Monsoon
3.
4.

So yeah And since it is march, the scorching heat is killing me. Hence the name "Poetic thoughts with the Sun"

Anyway, this April I am going to participate in NaPo because I literally will have nothing to do, I hope. But this month is also an opportunity to improve and learn more in this writing form :3

Goals:

~ Write one poem everyday for 30 days
~ Make these posts as aesthetic as I can (I am really bad at that)
~ This isn't a goal, but I have a bunch of loose prompts for every day so I am not keeping a certain theme.

Jealousy can do harmful things,
it breaks people's insecure wings.

A person who walks envies others for a cycle,
whereas a cyclist makes a car driver his rival.

That car driver would die for a Ferrari,
to show off his wealth to everybody.

Why do we chase what others have?
That's a question never answered only asked.
Maybe one day we will accept and be happy what we have...

Really nice poem!

When my favourite song chirps,
every single worry of mine discerps,
the time seems to stop,
the magical tune becomes a healing herb.

I get engrossed in this tune,
you wouldn’t get my attention even puncturing a balloon,
my hands start swaying and my feet tapping,
my body dances like that Mickey Mouse cartoon.

When I hear music I don’t care,
about homework or my disastrous hair,
my mind feels like a cage bird set free,
I don’t want to remember bad things or be aware.

But when that catchy song is about to complete,
my mind sets bad things to increase,
how I would’ve to face my fears and fight,
not worrying I just click on repeat.

Lots of great imagery here! I really like how you compared insecurity to breakable wings in that first poem, as I thought that was a really apt metaphor.

The titles of your poems are interesting and seem to add an extra layer of meaning or imagery to the piece, such as jealousy being like "Silent Storms". A great start, and good luck with your NaPo!

As soon as the school bell rings,
the children smile and grab their things,
chatter flows about how their summer will go,
they dream about this perfect summer to live like Queens and Kings.

They are free from homework and those boring assignments,
playing all day their sweat shining like diamonds,
their families become happy this season,
as moms get rest from their child's tantrums and whining.

Children watch TV with their family in their homes,
their grandmother brushing their hair with combs,
a TV serial playing in front of them,
they would chat and laugh, away from their phones.

Summer is a relief and a break,
from busy lives and people who are fake,
it's a time to spend with family and friends,
living carefree is how a great summer it will make.

Beauty is such a confusing word,
even it's simple meaning is stirred,
some say it's inside, but they also judge,
it's not the word that's confusing, it's the world.

While some people tan their skins to look good,
some lighten theirs cause society said they should,
actually it's not the people,
it's the society which always misunderstoods.

They say the girl is boring if she covers,
while they unknowingly slutshame the others,
why don't they understand that it is she who decides
on how to live the life of hers?

I say ignore the society,
have confidence and give up anxiety,
about how others will think of you if you do this or that,
you are the main character of your life so don't live quietly!
