Captain Noni

I lounged about nonchalantly on a real chair this time, a half eaten cookie suspended in my hand, forgotten. I watched Lord Nymery's strange purple eyes appraise me, judging my amused smile at the arrival of her two Master Assassins - Black and White. 'How quaint,' I thought, 'now all they need is red, then the triangle is complete.' The two Masters glared at me. I switched my smile for a more serious look.

Nym and her two Masters quickly exchanged information while I thought about the situation. My two most trusted Lieutenants and I were on the return from a scouting mission on behalf of the YWS Fleet. On our way, while making a wormhole change through our Epsilon Theta device (See here for description.) to avoid an extra three Earth hours travel time, we passed a battle-ready Sky Pirate Ship heading straight for the Sky Ninjas. After making a quick hollo-call to GriffinKeeper, captain of the YWS Fleet, to report not only the Pirate Ship, but the findings of our scouting mission, I decided that being fellows of the Arts, I may as well lend them the services NIGHT.

Nym's two Masters left, leaving me and Nym alone. I finally took another bit of my cookie and eyed Nym's youthful form with curiosity. You'd think she would have chosen a much more authoritative form for this meeting.

"So," I finally said, "do you intend to attack the Pirates?"

"It depends."

"On Bianca Froza captaining that ship?"

Although Nym neither shook, nor nodded her head, the flash of anger in her strange purple eyes told me what I already suspected - that ship was going down, no matter what it took.

"I guess we'll just have to wait and see," I said mischievously. I then pulled my favourite dagger out from its sheath woven into my jeans pocket and began twirling it in the air - a skill that I had mastered long ago.

Nym stared inquisitively at my dagger, possibly admiring its sleek and deadly form. "How'd you come across that?" she asked.

I shrugged even though the answer was already forming on my lips. "It's a very long story from what seems like a long time ago. Though, I shall give you one hint. Tura."

"Okari?"

I smiled, curious as to how much of the legend Nym new. "Would you like to feel how sharp it is?" I asked teasingly.

"Good luck with that." Her grin was just as predatory as mine.

I twirled the black platinum blade one last time then tucked it back into its sheath. I then stood and nodded. "I guess I shall head back to my ship and organise my things. Maybe even get some of NIGHT down here to give a hand." After one last smile, I left the room, curious as to how things to come would pan out.

White:

I stood in front of Nym, she was in the form of a human man. A young man, with long brown hair and a soul patch. His unblinking violet eyes stared into mine, neither of us moved. “Possession. Not many men choose this path. Why?” he said.

“Because. I don’t have anything to lose,” I stared straight at him, and he grinned a small grin.

“Nothing to hide?” Nym said.

“I didn’t say that,” I said with a low growl. He raised an eyebrow, and responded.

“Very well. Are you ready?”

“Yes,” I said. The man in front of me dissolved into a gas, swirling and headed towards me. It entered my nostrils, and my hands started to shake, and my mandibles twitched. Images flashed in front of my brain. Images from my childhood. My first kill. My father. The ship leaving. I growled, but he kept looking. I wasn’t going to let him out though.

BANG BANG BANG. My eyes slowly opened, and I familiarized myself with the room. I looked over at the clock on the wall. Just past 2 P.M. I sighed and groggily dragged myself out of the bed and headed over to the door. I opened it to find Rasheck waiting for me.

Rasheck was one of the youngest crew members, almost young enough to be an apprentice, but he had already graduated. I had personally taken him in after his parents passed, I trained him. I saw part of him in me, so I had trained him like I had been trained. Unrelenting, I pushed him to his limits many times. He quickly caught on, and he quickly ranked up to an assassin at such a young age. He was very good, and I was proud of him, but I would never show it.

He stepped back a step when I opened the door. My helmet automatically locked onto him. I realized I had left it on sleeping and I sighed. I reached and removed the helmet and tossed it on the bed, but it fell off and landed with a solid thunk on the floor. I stretched my mandibles, and he gulped. "What?" I glared at him, he had woken me. He better have had a good reason.

"Uh. uh, Nym. She. She wants to see you." He was fidgeting just standing there. He always got nervous around me. I didn’t think I had pushed him too hard, but I might have.

"Ok. Thank you, now run along." And he was gone. He ran. I just smiled watching him run. I leaned back until my back cracked, and groaned. I started at a fast walk towards Nym's quarters. Most people thought it was strange that I slept all day, but there wasn’t much to do on the ship. Occasionally I would help with the apprentices, but most of my days were spent on my bed. Black suddenly appeared next to me, she was certainly a stealthy little thing.

"Do you know what this is about?" she said.

"I know as little as you." I replied. She nodded, and we walked the rest of the way to Nym’s without speaking. When we got there, Black talked to the guard for a bit, but I was too uninterested to listen. We walked into Nym’s quarters, and Nym was waiting for us, with Captain Noni. Noni was a member of the YWS fleet, they were allied with us, so Noni was always a welcome sight.

"My lady," Black said. She bowed, and I did the same, out of courtesy.

"Black and White, good, you're here," Nym said. The captain started to smirk, and I glared at her, opening up my mouth, and the smile quickly disappeared. "Captain Noni just arrived with some information. Some pirates has been spotted about two days from here." Pirates. It had been a while since we’d seen any of those.

"Do you want us to attack, my lady?" Black said. I always found it funny when people called Nym my lady or lord. She had no gender. She was a gas. I preferred to call her Nymery, her real name, even though she didn’t enjoy it.

"I have given the instructions to set the course. Our shields and our cloaks are up, and so will be the assassins. We will be able to come close enough to see what they're doing here, and what is the ship we are to deal with. I do not want either of you to attack until I say so, but be ready. We shall see what, if anything, we are against here." Said Nym. I wanted to speak, but Nym’s orders were Nym’s orders. I bowed, but I refused to make eye contact with her. After a moment, I turned and exited the room, Black following me. When we stepped outside, I spoke.

“Do you want to attack them?” I said.

“Of course, why wouldn’t I? Do you?” I sneered, and she let out a quick laugh. “Yeah, that was a stupid question,” she said.

“I need something to take my mind off of the pirates, and I don’t feel like going back to sleep,” I said. Black grinned, because I never said that. “How about a dual?” I said.

“Well, it’d be good for the apprentices to see it in action.” Black said. “Sure, why not. Just try not to kill me,” she said.

“Well then just don’t get hit,” I said, smiling as best as a guy with mandibles instead of a mouth could do. “I’ll be right back, gotta go get my mask,” I said.

“Why do you need that thing? It’s not that important,” Black said.

“Because, I want to intimidate the apprentices, not scare them away,” I said. “Meet me in the training room in 5,” I said, and I started towards my room.

Being Cabin Girl was something I had to live with. I'd rather be First Mate. It's what I've been working up to since day one. I came onto this ship with my Uncle but her ran off into an island full of mythical treasures. He heard legends of Urag Island. It supposedly contained gold, love, youth, all you could ever wish for.

Me being the skeptical type didn't fall for that. I stayed on.

Wings relieved me from my duties of cleaning, so I walked to the bottom of the ship and got into the tiny closet where I left my cleaning supplies in.

My stomach grumbled as I started my way back. I touched it, feeling the rumbling. I wonder if we have any food to eat. I'm not entirely sure if we caught anything or we just had something.

"Hey," I said once I saw one of the pirates, Mari.

"Hi," she smiled.

She walked off to the top deck. I found the kitchen and saw it was empty. Well, I was the one that had to do the cooking as well. So, as I walked to the counter I thought of what to make. Soup. Everyone likes soup. Okay, I hope everyone likes soup. Pulling out all the essential items to make the soup, I started. It was going to be Chicken Noodle.

"What is that smell Key-ah-ra?" I heard someone ask.

Looking up, I saw another one of our pirates. His name slipped from my mind but he's a greedy one. Not thankful for anything but the treasure he finds.

"It's Key-a-ra, and it's soup." I snapped.

"Uh, why do you always make bad things girl?"

"You wouldn't know unless you tried. And since I'm the Cabin girl, I make the food. You're going to have to eat it or starve. Your call. Unless you want to cook, then be my freaking guest."

"Don't you be talkin' to me in that way. I can throw you off this very ship."

My throat closed as I tried to regain my confidence. Getting thrown off is not worth it, so I kept my mouth shut until he left me alone.

"That's right," he smirked and walked away.

"Scrooge," I huffed.

Chiana

I carefully did push-ups, breathing hard from the exertion. Since Black said I needed to work on my strength, I would as often as I could. I smiled, remembering how she said I was like my mother. The highest praise I could ever get from her.

"Working on your strength?" I jumped up, looking straight in to my mother's face. "I had the same problem when I was your age. Most girls do."

I grinned. "Yeah, Black told me. You never come to visit for no reason, though. What's happening?"

She rolled her eyes. "Calm down. Black and White are going to have a duel in the training gym. Go."

"Cool!" I ran from my room, even knowing Mom would be shaking her head, smiling at my enthusiasm.

I caught Rasheck strolling along in the hallway, and grabbed his shoulder. "Duel in the training room. C'mon!"

"I'm not an apprentice anymore, Chiana."

I pouted. It wasn't like he'd been graduated a long time ago or anything. "Come on. You know you want to see Black and White have at each other." I made puppy-dog eyes at him. "Please? It'll be fun. You've been so boring now that you've graduated."

“Because, I want to intimidate the apprentices, not scare them away.” I frowned. A ninja so easily frightened wasn't worth my spit. “Meet me in the training room in 5,” he said and ran of towards his room.

I walked slowly towards the training room, trying to come up with a good tactic. It was just sparring, but I didn't want to loose anyway. Our duels had always been very even. Most of the times we had to call it a draw, since it could go on for hours, and when someone actually won it was never the same person twice.

The apprentices, and several graduated ninjas had already gathered. Hopefully they'd be able to learn something from us. I stopped in the middle of the room and took some time to stretch, check my weapons and tie my hair a bit harder. When White arrived I was already in position ready to start the match.

White took position too, and we started at the same time, not needing any other signal than our eyes meeting. Or, well, it was a bit difficult to see his eyes in that mask, but it felt like he was looking me in the eye and I was right. We charged towards each other. He tied his hand and raised his arm, and I knew this body would be ruined if I let him hit me, so I jumped, grabbed his arm and hurled myself over him. I landed fazing his back, and before he could turn around I pulled my katana and my tessen and charged again. He turned around a bit quicker than I had expected, swinging his arm at me like a log. I unfolded my tessen and put it right in front of his face to block his view. He missed me with an inch, but when I was about to use my katana he decided to bring out the blades on his arm. I had to do a side summersault to get away.

This wasn't working at all. He attacked, I dodged, I attacked, he dodged, it just went on and on. It was difficult to fight when your opponent knew all your moves, and vice versa. The victory would undoubtedly go to the one who came up with something new. I had won once by using both my katanas instead of the tessen, but he already knew that trick. I charged again, but he blocked my katana with his blades. This time I slid between his legs to avoid his punch. He used his size and strength, I used my agility and speed. Our strength and weaknesses cancelled each other out.

The match went on for.. I wasn't quite, sure, I had lost track of time, when I finally got tired and decided to fight dirty instead. I didn't normally do that, proud as I was, but it was the only way I could think of that would take him by surprise. I used my tessen to block his view again, and pretended that I was going to make the same move as before, when I suddenly jammed my katana down, into his foot. I had put enough strength into it to nail his foot to the floor, and it worked. I jumped back, avoiding his punch, and pulled my other katana to finish him of. Well, I obviously wasn't going to kill him, just put it against his throat. Unfortunately I had miscalculated a bit, as I noticed the plasma gun on his shoulder charging up. I wasn't the only one fighting dirty, it seemed. I tossed myself to the side, in a less than gracious manner, and wasn't able to get up quick enough. I felt the blades against my chest.

"Looks like I win this time," he huffed.

I was just as winded as he. "I think it looks like a tie," I said with a grin. He finally realized that I had the tip of my sword against his throat and flinched ever so slightly.

"Seems like it," he muttered and backed of. I lowered my katana and he held out his hand. I took it and let him pull me up.

"Where's my other katana?" I asked with a frown as I looked around.

"Right here."

I stared at the broken katana he held out to me. He had snapped it in half. "Lucky for you I have a spare."

"Wish I could say the same about my foot."

"Eh, quit wining. At least you learned something useful," I said with a grin and punched him on the arm, a playful gesture that I had seen other humans use before, but had never tried myself. I made a face as I hit the solid metal. "Why are humans so damn stupid?" I muttered under my breath. I had managed to dislocate two fingers.

Spoiler
I don't normally write action scenes, so I hope this was okay xD I tried to make it as equal as I could, so they're both walking away with minor injuries.

Siavash Nameh

I'd been bored. When bored, I normally found myself in odd locations that had great acoustics. Today was like no other, and now I sat on piping that ran above the path that led from Nymery's wannabe throne room. I saw Captain Noni pass and couldn't help but let out a hiss of distaste. Sure, she allied herself with the ninjas, but something about her was most certainly quite wrong. Too old. She smelled of it. Nontheless, she was my opposite, and I didn't know her well. She was human, as well, and humans were prone to disloyalty, their self-preservation instinct too strong.

So I leaped down from the pleasantly warm piping and landed more or less silently beside this Captain Noni. I cleared my throat, however, knowing that humans disliked me sneaking up on them. Ninjas were quiet enough, but my nature combined with training scared my superiors on occasion.

Humans.

I looked over Captain Noni then, my eyes moving quickly and ears flickering. I took in the sound of her breath, the pulse on the side of her neck, and how even as human as she was, she was so pale. She'd burn to a crisp and freeze like a hunk of ice. So delicate. Fascinating, like a butterfly before you pinned it down to a board.

Siavash smiled at her, even though he'd been told smiling had never won him any favors.

"So, we're going to slit pirate throats later then?"
My SPD senses are tingling.

Bianca Froza - Frozen Heights - "Yes, my ladyship!"

Bianca sat in her comfy captain seat as she enjoyed the cold frosty air of the ship and the wonderous sites of the cold Frozen Heights, a cold frozen planet with some high mountains that seemed to reach up and touch the skies. Here on Frozen Heights she felt most comfortable, even more so when two large Jaqurin Battle Cruisers were near by in the cold fog of Frozen Heights, Bianca had ordered the ship to be put within sights of anyone at least two days away from the planet. It was a trap, and one meant to crush any nearby Sky Ninja Ships that got near Frozen Heights, Bianca sat with her legs and arms crossed as she enjoyed the view, soon tho it got interrupted.

"Lady Bianca, we got a request to open up a communications channel with an unknown vessal," one of the main techs said.

"Open a communcations channel," Bianca ordered.

Soon, a large screen appeared in front of the ship so all could see, a man appeared Bianca barely recongized the guy but knew who he was, Captain Noni, she's had a run in with this guy in the past there ships tangled as Bianca was fresh off a successful raid. The Ice Star was nearly torn to pieces, but they managed to escape somehow.

"This is Captain Noni of the Silver Shuriken, identify yourself," he ordered.

"This is Captain Bianca Froza of the Ice Star, Captain Noni, how long has it been since our last tangle?" she asked.

"You! Bianca Froza, you are under arrest for the crimes you have committed though out the galaxy! By Law of the Sky Ninjas, you and your crew will be taken in!" he demanded.

"Quit your blathering," she told Captain Noni.

"Lock on to there signal, tell me how close they are to us!" she ordered.

"There moving at an alarming speeds Captain! There half hour away from us!" one of the techs said.

"Open communcations with the Swords of Jaqurin, disappear into the fog and cut off communications with the Silver Shuriken!" Bianca ordered.

One screen disappeared and two more popped up two icy men stood before Bianca, pure blood Jaqurin Captains, one of the finest men in the Jaqurin Army and Fleet.

"Swords of Jaqurin, the Silver Shuriken approches, arm yourselves for battle and destroy that ship!" Bianca ordered.

"Yes my ladyship!" the men said acknowledging Bianca's command.

The ship began moving everyone on board would have noticed the sudden movement in the ship, soon the Ice Star would disappear into the dense fog of Frozen Heights, awaiting to see the dense destruction of the Silver Shuriken as the Swords of Jaqurin moved in to crush the ship that had nearly taken Bianca's life before.

Jimmie Fowler

The day was going by and everyone was getting ready for dinner, I went down to the kitchens where Kiera stood cooking. As I walked down the steps she looked up and clearly was annoyed.

"Finally, where the bloody hell have you been?" She asked her head almost stuck in a pot.
I was about to answer when she spoke again.

"Never mind just hand me the bowls" And so I did.

It didn't last much longer until almost the entire crew settled in the seats and gorged on the food like a pack of hungry wolves. Here and there you could hear complaints about the food.

I looked to my right a Kiera who just rolled her eyes. Without a thought I grabbed an apple and went up to the deck, staying in a place so stuffed made me feel like I was suffocating.

I walked to the rail leaned forward and watched as we sailed by the glittering stars. I took a bite of the apple and down below I heard he crew start a song. Whether they all knew the lyrics was unknown but listening to them was like listening to a group of screaming cats.

Suddenly we changed course and everything went quiet, everyone seemed to grasp the thought that something was probably wrong. Right away the second mate came running up the stairs.

Rasheck Mcallister

Rasheck sat on his bed staring up at the roof. He found himself doing this quite often since he enjoyed being alone. It came to him as quite a shock when Chiana asked him to come with her to the duel. He knew that it was going on, he just saw no reason to attend. In retrospect, he realized, he didn't really know why he went at all. Sure duels are always fun, but they seemed boring to him, he was used to all of Black and Whites moves by now.

Despite all of these things, Rasheck had a rather good time at the duel. He got to see Black and White lay some pretty good hits on each other. He even got to see the rare sight of Unfair Kombat. Generally this kind of fighting is only used by the pirates, but even Rasheck had to admit the Duel was going nowhere as long as it was clean. Most of all though he got to spend the day sitting next to Chiana. She was so... interested in the match. I could tell she was learning from every move they made. The gleam in her eye, intrigued Rasheck. and now he couldn't stop thinking about her...

Mercury - Bridge of the Ice Star

It wasn't as late in the morning as I had hoped we when I got the news we were pinged by a Sky Ninja ship, I had hoped I would have some time to lounge, perhaps stand a while above deck and take in the cool air of The Frozen Heights. Not like there was lounging on the Ice Star...

I was in the corridors near the main helm of the ship when the alert sounded, bringing all of the crew mates to the bridge.

I missed he beginning of the message, possibly just the introduction of our ships together - I had only seen the face on the screen one other time before when I was being briefed so many years ago. Captain Noni of the Silver Shuriken, a deadly adversary as you could see even if The Captain hadn't particularly mentioned so.

"Quit your blathering," she told Captain Noni.

"Lock on to there signal, tell me how close they are to us!" she ordered.

"There moving at an alarming speeds Captain! There half an hour away from us!"

"Open communications with the Swords of Jaqurin, disappear into the fog and cut off communications with the Silver Shuriken!"

One screen disappeared and two more popped up two icy men stood before The Captain, pure blood Jaqurin Captains, one of the finest men in the Jaqurin Army and Fleet.

Oh shit, looks like things might get a little serious.

"Swords of Jaqurin, the Silver Shuriken approches, arm yourselves for battle and destroy that ship!" She ordered.

"Yes my ladyship!" The screens cleared, and the captain turned to us.

"You all have half an hour to prepare, you know the protocol. I wan't cannons! I wan't equipment ready in 5 and weapons in 6! Battle stations! We're blowing the Silver Shuriken out of the sky, or we're gonna die trying!"

"AYE AYE!" The crew yelled in fantastic unison. I could almost see the hint of a smile on her cold lips. I knew the Captain didn't feel so hot about that particular gag as we weren't real Earth Pirates, but I had gotten the crew to start it as a joke and she never had any serious complaints about it.

I rushed around the ship and got to my post right by the hull readying one of the cannons. I started humming the battle hymn of Jaqurin Navy. Soon after a crewman starting singing the words, and then we were all singing low under our breaths as we prepared.

The ship changed courses with a lurch, soon after we were in sight of the Silver Shuriken.

Let's get the party started...

Auden Marle
I found myself pacing around my room. One word kept repeating in my head.
Pirates.
They're so close, I thought. I was getting antsy, twisting my ring around my finger. As I plopped down on my bed a memory came to me. It was from when I was a child. Lilian was by my bed, tucking me in. I asked for a story and she just smiled and sat in the chair by my bed.
Once upon a time there was a brave young ninja girl," she started. "And-"
"What was her name?" I asked.
She paused for a second as if to think of the name and answered, "It was something that rhymed with 'Luden Larle'."
I smirked, knowing she was putting me in the story.
"Luden Larle was traveling when she came across a village being attacked by a group of nasty sky pirates," Lilian said with a grin. Then she continued.

The story had ended with 'Luden Larle' saving the village by driving the sky pirates away and being hailed a hero by the villagers. I lay on my back, smiling. I rolled to my side, realizing how long it had been since I last saw Lilian, causing my heart to ache. It had been at least several months, if not a year.
Maybe someday I can see her again..."

This... Griffinkeeper thought, is pretty amazing. So what if a Dragon had grabbed him from the ground and was in the process of carrying him off to his lair? It was a dragon!

"Griffinkeeper, this is the SPEW Cat's Eye, report your status please," a male artificial voice said. With the majority of the fleet destroyed, the SPEW Cat's Eye had become the flagship of the YWS Fleet.

"Macavity, this is Grif. I'm currently heading toward one of the larger mountain sections via a dragon! How awesome is that!"

"I believe that Mistress Rydia is concerned with your personal safety, even if it is just a little dragon."

"Not at all, she's massive and huge! Repeat, mucho ginormous," Grif said, looking up at the dragon.

"My phonic detector indicates spanglish," Macavity replied.

"Just the dragon thing, I'll be fine in a moment," Grif looked down. "We appear to be landing near one of the strange outcroppings that Sniffles mentioned."

"Sniffles, sir?"

"That's the name of the dragon. Did I mention how awesome this is? I can speak DRAGON!"

"Very well, sir. By the way, Adelaide has just informed me that Sky Pirates and Sky Ninjas have begun fighting one another in YWS space. Captain Noni is among them."

"How very unfortunate. Broadcast a 'Bugger off' message and see if they go away. Otherwise, ask Rydia to set an intercept course and neutralize both sides. Tell her to make a show of force, no casualties, but lot's of damage. That way they have less money to pay everyone with. Don't worry about me, I've got a DRAGON," Grif said.

"Rydia says she is jealous and that she wants a ride ASAP. Also, orders received and understood."

"Good hunting, Grif out."

Kiera Celyloque

Right when One-Eyed Jim ran to the deck, I knew bad news was upon us. Frustrated, I threw the empty pot into the sink and ran up to the deck. There it was, the Sky Ninjas ship. Ready for their defeat. I don't want to be cocky here, but surely we'll blow them down.

"Go back little girl," Jim hissed under his breath.

Swallowing hard, I pushed past him, getting closer to the edge of the ship. It was my dream to fight, like a true Pirate but no one would ever let me. They thought I was too much of a lady to do so. But I still fought against it.

"You really shouldn't be here." Wings said.

I spun on my heel and huffed. "You guys need all the help you can get. These guys," I pointed at the Sky Ninja ship. "are not a walk in the park."

"We know this Kiera. Now go back downstairs. You can help us by cleaning the kitchen after yourself,"

Truthfully, I couldn't say much more because one, he was right and two, the ship started to shake. Saving myself, I ran back downstairs and locked myself in the kitchen.

All I thought about was how we're going to survive and where in the freaking hell is Jimmie.

"Jimmie!" I called out.

No answer.

Walking toward the door, I opened it and saw that the bottom deck was completely empty. My hearts started to race, knowing that we were in danger. God. What was happening? A fire went off, I heard something blow. Yelling of brave pirates and a door slamming shut.

Looking up the stairs, I saw Jimmie. He was gripping his arm and his face was full of pain. Blood was dripping down his hand. I ran up to him, leading him to the bathroom which was just a few feet away. I know we had a first aid for this stuff.

I looked through the medicine cabinet and pulled out a red box. Opening it, I grabbed the bandages, sonic pen, and some pain creme. This sonic pen was made to cure injuries, but it still hurt while use.

"Not that," Jimmie begged.

"Jim, this will hurt less than what you feel now."

Pulling the cap off the pen, I waited until he let go of his arm. He was holding pretty tight. A second later he gave in and I used the pen. A blue light burst from the tip and hit the injury. It looked amazing as the skin closed up and the bleeding lessened. He cringed but held his cry. Once that was done, i rubbed some pain creme on and wrapped his arm in a bandage. That was for safety. The cut is still fresh so it could burst open if put too much stress on it.

"Better, huh Jimmie?" I smiled.

He looked up at me and gave me a soft smile.

"Now don't you be using that arm for anything until tomorrow. And what the hell were you doing up there-," I couldn't finish my sentence.

Something flew through the bottom deck, straight at us. As if it were directed remotely at us. I pushed him down to the ground and we were safe. The item, whatever it was, rolled next to us, beeping.

Beeping.

"A bomb." Jimmie said.

He grabbed it and tossed it back through the hole it made just in time. Once it reached the outside, it blew.

I scowled at the 3D recreation of the local space before me. Of all the things I could do to help, they wanted to use me as bait. Mind you, I certainly wasn't that easy to catch, considering that all but one of the Epsilon Theta devices that existed were installed in NIGHT ships, the other one under the top security of SPPEW.

I punched a few short commands into my control pad, replacing the star map with a plain 2D stream of Rydia's face.

"Morning Rydia," I said. "Grif said that whatever I need to say, to say it you. Apparently he's too busy doing something with a dragon."

"Okay," Rydia smiled, obviously knowing what all this dragon business was about.

"I'm reporting to confirm that at least some of the Sky Pirates are at Frozen Heights, and that the Sky Ninjas are preparing their attack on them. Unfortunately, I've been used as bait and now have them on my tail."

Rydia nodded thoughtfully, unconcerned about my dilemma. "Just shoot at them a little, lead them into an open bit of space, then use your Epsilon Theta device to get out of their."

"Got it." I ended the video call and returned to my starmap. Coordinating with my Mass Detection system to mark the Sky Pirate Ship on the map.

"Hey Kalaila, you lazy excuse for an AI, you wanna get some hot chocolate down here while I boot up the Epsilon Theta device!"

"Maybe if you actually used some manners for once." I could imagine Kali crossing her arms if you were a person rather than an AI.

"Well then, could you please get me some hot chocolate?"

"Get it yourself you lazy human."

"And that's why I demanded, instead of asking. Don't make me pull out your Intelligence Core again."

"Fine."

I laughed, my AI sure was quite the pain. Such a shame I couldn't physically thump her in the shoulder. That would have given me great satisfaction.

After warming up the Epsilon Theta device, I pulled up Lord Nym on the screen. "I've got them hooked at Frozen Heights," I said. "I'm pulling them into some open space then I'm gonna head back to the ship. The trips only roughly two hundred and fifty Theta Seconds, so I shouldn't be too long."

Nym nodded and I ended the call.

The most important thing is to preserve the world we live in. Unless people understand and learn about our world, habitats, and animals, they won't understand that if we don't protect those habitats, we'll eventually destroy ourselves.
