Name: Rhys "Mercury" Marx
Age: 23
Race: Human Jaqurin Hybrid
Alliance: (Pirate or Ninja?) - Alien Pirate!
Rank: Pirate

Appearance:
Spoiler
Image ~ Imagine this kid here, but not a woos. Jet black hair with bits of blue in it - his eyes are black/blue with silver in them and his skin is paler and he looks generally more rugged- you know, like a pirate...
And there's a scar over his left eye

Personality: Mercury is a pirate - a little mean, he's serious sometime. But he's also more chill than he should be about things. He's really sarcastic and has a habit of having too much fun doing bad things like stealing and lying. He'll gladly go with the regular crew mates and raid somewhere and kill some ninjas. He's fun like that.

History: An orphan from birth, Rhys quickly grew into a life of crime. He learned the ways of lying and stealing with the rhythm of the streets at a young age. Then, seemingly apropos of nothing, Rhys was abducted from his jail cell in California (for larsony and robbery and other bad things) when he was seventeen. He awoke on a freezing cold table, a figure standing over him.
We've been observing you, and we think you might make a handy member for my crew. It's not really your choice though.
There was a cold laugh, and then needles in the major veins of his body. The pain was so extreme that he passed out. When he awoke, he was different. He felt different, he looked different.

He was inducted into the training program, the Captain put him through a literal frozen hell - showing him how to use his new body. He was told he was injected with the DNA of the captain's species so that he would survive that cold. And with that, there were changes: He moved faster, thought faster, his aging process slowed. He was outfitted with special equipment, grappling hooks, claws, boots, scouter, lasers - the lot of it.

He quickly grew with the ship and the crew, they became his family. And he's prepared to fight with them and for them at any cost.

Everyone - We've only pirates left now so be sure to fill those spaces up! If all of them get filled, then I will allow people to join as pirates/ ninjas alternatively but I want to see the teams equalled out first!

I'll be making the first post tonight, but people are still welcome to join after that. Thanks for being awesome everyone!

Aria - we're going for just one character each for now for the purpose of the showdown. No joint loyalties on this one!

Prometheus - All the apprentice ninja spots are taken unfortunately, but I've put you down as ninja and you can be recently graduated.

omniyus - There are no master assassin spots left, but I've reserved you the last ninja space.

VampireSenshi512 - The first mate is already claimed but you can be just as fierce as a pirate!

If I had to, they wouldn't even know each other, let alone like xD But very well, one shall do just as fine :3

I'll post the profile today, I've been busy :/

Oh. And will there be a DT?

EDIT: oh, look! Finally!

~Nym

Name: Nymery (goes by Nym)

Age: not really possible to tell, but mostly takes the appearance of young people

Race: a Whisp

Alliance: Ninja

Rank: the Queen/King (in the profile, I shall write of her as if it's a she, to avoid confusions)

Appearance: She is not a race that has a proper appearance - Whisps exist as thoughts, dreams, memories, floating in the antimatter and are almost never seen in their true form - but she can make herself appear human. In which case, she has a book with pictures she likes to change between, not always even being of the same gender. Her eyes, however, always stay dark purple.
(I will be describing her in every chapter so you know what she looks like)

Personality: Curious about the world, just as everyone of her race, yet not at all as peaceful as them. She has the ability to see and go through minds and dreams of others, and she is marvelous in using that knowledge. When she takes the appearance of a person, she often amuses herself by acting as she believes that person could act - that often confuses the crew members she doesn't see often. Nym is generally smart, cold, disturbingly calm and with a trait of simply being evil when she feels like it. She, thought, dislikes spilling blood and rarely - if ever - fights personally. She doesn't really understand the concept of sleeping, eating and other physical needs most creatures have, so she tends to call for company or decide on changing the course in the most awkward situations - for others. Perfectly fine for her.
It is known that she doesn't really trust anyone just based on their word. Every candidate for a ninja onboard must pass her test, letting her move around their mind for a while. She never forces anyone to prove loyalty by allowing her to "posses" them - however, she values highly those who do offer her that. She doesn't at all care of in which gender they think of her or speak to her, nor she is really into titles, though she does like to be called "my lady" or "my lord". She is an amazing planner, yet she doesn't really often give specific orders, knowing that her people know how to take care of themselves. When she does give a direct order, however, everyone knows it must be obeyed.
She also enjoys teasing people, and is very interested in inflicting physical emotions, as she doesn't really feel any.

History: Unlike most of her kind, she wasn't born in the unexplored parts of the universe.
The one she was reproduced from was taken under observation, and she first didn't even know there's anything outside of the artificially made home they gave her on a ship. She learned to change into human-ish characters very young, as she found it impossible to communicate any other way. Being a Whisp, she was made for mind actions, illusions and tricks, and had a natural gift for finding the right way wherever they'd put her - but in her true form, she could only be heard by humans and races with incredibly well developed mind. She learned from her ancestor, who died as the space pirates attacked her home ship, that Whisps have never been warriors, even though they had all those abilities. They were peaceful and no one even knew of them, until people and aliens started poking their noses in their home parts of the universe, and use them as navigators, energy and even weapons.
Nym managed to run away from the ship she was made on, as it got attacked by the pirates,by changing her appearance into that of one of the pirates.
By the time they realized, she was already far enough.

Slowly moving around and manipulating, hurting others as little as she could, she got to the position she holds now. Nym could exist as almost nothing more than a thought, and was able to take any appearance she imagines. She never felt anything physical, including pain, heat and cold, yet her emotions were never lacking. She, though, can't touch another person, nor hold a weapon or an object, unless she is let in the mind of a living person - in ancient times, as the Whisps came to the planets and ships to silently observe and gather information, they talked about possessions and demons, as it took the Whisps some time to figure how to make a host remember what happened while they were occupying their bodies. Nym, however, almost never does it. She has her people to wield weapons, attack and protect, but no one is better than her in getting all the information necessary without spilling a drop of blood.

Spoiler
This profile gave me a lot of trouble. It even got deleted in the middle of the process, bah.. So sorry if something is unclear or strange phrased. But here I am :3

Name: Was never given a birth name. Crew members call him White. (I had to lol)

Age: 47

Race: Predator

Alliance: Ninjas

Rank: Master Assassin

Appearance: White is from the Predator species. White is distinguishable from humans because of his greater height, for one. White stands around 8 feet tall, weighing about 250 pounds. He has mandibles on his face, although you can only see them when his helmet is off, and long, black, hair-like appendages on his head, which are visible at all times. He is much stronger than humans, strong enough to shatter solid concrete with his bare hands. He is a great climber, easily able move through trees or any other structure to get to his target. His blood is neon green in color. His body is damage resistant, and his species is capable of recovering from multiple gunshot wounds. He can also withstand radiation doses which humans couldn’t. White’s vision is in infrared, but his mask allows him to see in different spectrums, up to ultraviolet. White has a vast array of weaponry. He has, on his right arm, two large serrated blades that can go in and out of his armor at will. On the left arm, it is just one, longer, not serrated blade, more like a sword. He has a plasma cannon on his left shoulder, although he prefers not to use it. He knows hand to hand, and one good placed punch could cave in your chest cavity.
Without Mask:
Spoiler
Image

With Mask (Also a look at the blades):
Spoiler
Image

Personality: White loves nothing more than watching the life drain out of a pirate's eyes. The only thing he likes more than that is killing one himself. White has extreme resentment against pirates. He holds grudges, and you don't want to get on his bad side. He usually is pretty cheery after a pirate raid, but can get into grumpy streaks if they haven't gone on raids in a while. If you mention his old life in a negative way, or try to talk to him about it, he snaps, and you won't like it when he snaps. Finally, he's not what you call a touchy feely person. He doesn't care about your feelings, so do go asking him for help. He is here to kill pirates, not be your counselor.

History: White obviously was not born on one of the ships. He was born on his home planet. When he was around 20, not quite full grown, but just about, his village was invaded by.... You guessed it. Space pirates. Although Predators are valiant fighters, there were too many pirates. They overran his village. He survived because he wasn't in his village at the time. He came back to find the village in ashes, and the pirates were just leaving. He swore to get revenge. He traveled around for a while, and the ninjas found him. They wanted to recruit him. Said they'd give him a home, food, the chance to kill pirates. He was in at once. He quickly worked his way up through the ranks, taking down squads of pirates by himself. He befriended the king/queen, which helped him greatly. In only 20 years with the ninjas, he worked his way up to master assassin, which is where he sits now.

The DT is now available!

Name: One-Eyed Jim
Age: 31
Race: Human
Alliance: Pirate
Rank: Second Mate

Appearance: Jim's an ugly looking brute with straggly brown hair and only the one eye. The other's been left as an empty, half closed socket with a knot of red veins and dead skin tissue. His skin looks like its been taken off and sewed together backwards, but if you can look past those, he's really quite the dashing gentleman. His clothes are at odds with his body and are rich velvets and decorative ruffs. You'll also not find less than ten rings on his right hand, but his left - that's his sword hand - is free and ready for battle.

Personality: Jim likes nothing better than to have a drink with his pals while watching ninja ships burn on the horizon. He's lived on the ships all his life, moving from one to another, but these last five years he's made a good friend in Docco and likes his captain well enough to stay put. Pirates don't generally stay put too long; either they die or they look for a better deal. His reward for those five years of (mostly) loyal service was to be made second mate. Jim likes to think he's a gentleman but he's drunk more oft than not and his good manners turn into a slur of imitated graces.

He's got a good soul in him though, never breaks the pirate code and for all his grumblings, he doesn't mind the women so much and is very tolerant for a pirate.

History: Jim's got a lot of stories he's more than willing to tell if you'll sit down with him and keep his tankard full. The only one he won't say a word on is how he lost his eye, so of course everyone's heard a different story. Some say he plucked it out himself to impress a woman, others that he lost it taking down a whole ship on his own and there's one rather amusing tale that involves a parrot. Whichever is true, you'll never know and Jim will sit with a smug smile on his face and tell you in the most serious tone he can muster: I don' remember that 'un. Mebbe after another drink.

____________________________

One-Eyed Jim

"Tell me again about the fourth wife?" The day was early and the first and second mate were leaning against the bow of the ship, the smell of alcohol on their breath as they 'oversaw' the scrubbing of the deck by the cabin girl Kiera.

"Well," One-Eyed Jim drawled. "Now she was a looker. I mean, I don' try teh marry them as yer knows, but old Gerdie was a looker."

"Old-?" Docco raised an uncertain brow.

"Jus' a figer o' speech." Jim drank some more from his tankard and straightened up the ship a little. It was getting hard to stand up straight. "Use less water. Yer gettin' it all wet."

"It's supposed to be wet. Why don't you come wash it if you think I'm doing it wrong?" Keira gave him a snarky glare but carried on scrubbing. Jim mumbled something about girls under his breath and Docco chuckled.

"So this fourth wife?"

"Well she caught up with me at Panama Reef, the planet with all the thunder storms. Near wrecked our ship so we wuz stranded. Was she a beauty though."

"Gerdie?"

"No, dat ship."

Grif stood on Planet Apollo, not quite able to believe his eyes. Only months ago, YWS had been scattered, the fleet had been destroyed, along with their only base of operations: YWS Station. Hounded by civilizations of foes, by rights none of them should have survived.

But they survived. And more importantly, the MacGuffin device survived. A machine of unimaginable power, capable of creating whatever a person imagined. Nate had hooked himself up the machine and imagined the best possible place for the YWSers to live and write. Moments later, the MacGuffin device began constructing Planet Apollo.

Now, Grif was on the surface of this new planet that hadn't existed a month ago. Planetary scans had revealed that the planet had complicated life-forms, advanced technology, and even some signs of civilization. No one really knew what was waiting for them down there and Nate wouldn't be able to tell them until the migraine from imagining a planet wore off. One thing was certain though, Apollo was a writer's dream planet and as Fleet Coordinator of the YWS Fleet, Grif's job was to defend it.

That would be easier if Grif had a ship...

I watched the apprentices from a distance as the trained. They were getting good results, but too slowly for my taste. One of the girls, Lummi's daughter if I wasn't mistaking, was attempting to learn a new technique but failed every time she tried. The teacher was trying to correct her position, although it was already perfect. No, what she lacked was enough strength in her arms, and if the teacher didn't see that soon, then she'd never be able to do it properly.

I walked up to the teacher, gesturing for the apprentices to ignore me. "Master," he said with a slight bow. "How kind of you to take time to.."

I silenced him with a glare. He should talk less and focus more on the training. Mistakes such as these could end up being devastating in the end, and it was his job not to make them. I turned to the apprentice. "You're exactly like your mother," she blinked, seemingly surprised that I knew who she was. "Your arms are too weak and you have a teacher who's too stupid to notice. Exactly as her." I could see the teacher twitch in the corner of my eye. "You need to get stronger, but your position is perfect." I excused myself and walked away. Nym had called for me, but I had let the apprentices distract me.

Shortly ahead of me I saw White hurrying towards the meeting room. I hurried my step and caught up to him. "Do you know what this is about?"

He didn't seem the least startled by my sudden appearance, very befitting for a Master Assassin, but it was hard to tell with him sometimes. I had stayed in a human body for so long that I had almost forgotten how it felt to be in a Predator's body. "I know as little as you." I nodded and we walked the rest of the way in silence.

Marle, a ninja I remembered from when she was a apprentice, was guarding the door. She wasn't normally put on guard duty, and it struck me as odd. "Where is the one who's supposed to be here?" I asked sharply when we reached her.

"He suddenly got sick, so I'm covering for him, Master."

"Sick?" I muttered and walked in as she let us pass. More like hung over, if it was the man I though it was, and it probably was. I'd have to send someone to check. If he really was sick then I'd have to put him in quarantine. I didn't want my ninjas going around with a sniffle, it wasn't befitting for a ninja to be ill.

In the meeting room I realized why we had been called. Captain Noni had arrived, her ship probably docked to ours. "My lady," I said and bowed. White did the same.

"Black and White, good, you're here," the queen said. Our names seemed to make the captain want to laugh, so I glared at her. I had the feeling that White was once again doing the same, 'cause she immediately wiped the smile from her lips. "Captain Noni just arrived with some information. Some pirates has been spotted about two days from here."

White tensed up at the mentioning of pirates, but I kept my calm. I wouldn't let anything get to my head, not even pirates. "Do you want us to attack, my lady?"

Spoiler
I'm not sure how they measure distance, so I'll just go with days :)
I really tried to get as much people in there as possible.

Rasheck Mcallister

Rasheck sat on his bed inside his cabin, staring at the walls. Nym had asked him to retrieve his previous master, White, the new Master Assassin. Rasheck never feared anyone and almost never showed his emotions outwardly to his peers or underlings.White had always made him uncomfortable, even more so now that he has the official position of master assassin. Black had always pushed him, but never as hard as White had. Nothing he ever did was good enough, even though he always tried his hardest. It was like White had a personal vendetta out on him.

When Rasheck would get the duty of waking the crew-which he received often as he slept very little- he would always get to Whites room last and stand in the corner. Just his presence seemed to wake White. He would always roll over and ask in the same tone as always 'what?' then after he was done he would begin teaching apprentices immediately. "The sooner I finish with all of you, sooner I can go back to sleep" he would say nearly everyday during training.

Rasheck couldn't help but fear White for all he had put him through, he would avoid him as often as possible. Now he has to go to see his old sensei again, ' Hopefully this time I won't stutter..." he muttered to himself as he swung down from his bed and out the door without a sound. Under his breath he said "lets get this over with" and was gone.

~Nym

Knock, knock, knock.

I haven't been sleeping, I was never sleeping, but I have been woken up. I've been going through the Book of Faces, thinking of what each of that people may act like.
As someone knocked, I got up from the floor I was laying on, stretching my arm in front of me. My arm. It was pinkish and covered in light hair, all facing the same direction, with fingers that seemed to be moving nicely. Getting up, I walked to the mirror - the only object in the room that I couldn't feel as a part of me, as it belonged to the material world I was still learning about - and took a close look of myself.
Squared jaw, some blond-ish hair covering it, long nose, spiky hair. A male, human, probably around his early thirties, with dark purple eyes. That colour was mine, it never changed to whichever colour the pictures had in the Book of Faces, and I knew how one can get lost when staring at them for too long.

They knocked again, so I swiftly moved to the door. They could be opened from the outside, but unless opened by another Whisp or after my call, they would show the person a small storage instead of my room - or another place I felt like recreating in my illusions.

Marle, Auden Marle, human girl in dark clothes, stood on the other side as I opened the door, and she blinked at my current appearance. I wondered how to act - he could be a witty gentleman, could he not?

"You seem surprised to see me in my quarters," I noticed.
"I came to report a sight of another ship, my lord," she said. I liked how those words sounded, for some reason. Lady or lord, it was about the same for me, but they flew nicely. I kept the straight face.
"A ship? Can you identify it?" Not the pirates. I don't feel like dealing with pirates now.
She nodded.
"It is captain Noni Nite, calling in to have new and is coming on board."

Technically, they could have let me know of it in a few of different ways, neither of them involving meeting eye to eye. But I knew, even without making her share her mind with mine, that she couldn't resist seeing what I would look like when she got the chance to take a peek. She said something about the guard having reported ill, and I slowly nodded.

"Very well, Marle," I said. "Tell me, this captain Nite.. Is he a human?"
"Human is, my lord, but not a he. I believe Captain Noni appears to be a woman around my age."
I nodded again and sent her away, closing the door.

Oh, well, a girl. Figuring that the appearance I took right now, no matter how amusing it may seem to me, would make the conversation slightly too hard for a young human woman, I sighed. Grabbing the Book of Faces from the floor, I let the armchair rise from the floor. I could do anything in this room, anything that occurred to me, but no one but me could touch it.
*

I was laying on the seat of my made-up throne, with my feet up over where the back should be, as the door opened for the second time. I wasn't the blonde man anymore. I was now a female, though still a human, with long, wavy hair so light it appeared almost white, very fair skin and much thinner arms and fingers than before. I also had no hair on my face anymore.
This time Auden brought another person with her, a woman who now seemed older than me, pretty even though looked at upside down.

Her hair was rather light as well, and her eyes blue, much lighter than mine. She too was dressed in dark clothes, just as Marle and, at the moment, myself. They wore jeans, though - I also had a sweet dress and a small bow around my neck. She seemed a bit confused, as much as I could tell, seeing her with her down and feet up.

"Hello," I said, blinking. I seemed young now - it fitted my current mood, and playing the part wasn't hard for me. "Welcome aboard. I'm afraid you can't sit down."
Miss Nite made a move towards another chair as Marle shot the door again, and frowned a little as her hand passed through what she thought was fabric. I sat up the proper way, my hair jumping everywhere around me.
"I told you, you can't sit down," I said. Perhaps getting another chair, a proper one, wouldn't be all that bad idea. I got up and walked around her, finding her eyes very interesting. So light.. I resisted the need to see what lies beneath.
"You are the Queen Nym?" She finally asked, backing up a little, and I stopped staring at her and nodded.
"I would shake hands, but, you see.. That may come across as very challenging." I grinned. I felt like grinning. "Welcome again. I hear you have some news for me."

She didn't even ask me to identify myself, told the Captain's eyes, yet I knew I didn't need to. I know who she was - if I wanted to, I could have found out more about her than she probably remembered herself - and not even the lowest officer on my ship would never let her enter without making sure who she was.

"I have spotted a pirate ship," she said then, maybe as the look on my face cleared a few things for her. "This speed, not more than a two days away. She isn't big, but is too much for one person to take on alone." She hesitated for a moment. "I.. suppose you may have heard of me?"
I nodded, narrowing my eyes a little. A loyal outsider, an officer in the Fleet, a talented Artist in our field. It was at close as it could be to hearing of her.
She seemed somewhat relieved.
"Did you come to ask for help, or to offer your services to us?" I asked, and she shrugged and nodded at the same time - she probably hoped for both. I pretended to be thinking about it, chewing on my lip, observing as she observed me. I could tell it was hard to address me as a superior when I seemed younger than her, and I almost regretted not staying that man I was before. Almost.. But this was, after all, better.

Having finally sat on the floor, we discussed it into further details. She was, for sure, a useful addition - and I could provide her safety, proper training, food and whatever repairs she may have needed to get done on her ship.

I led her to the meeting room, followed by Marle, where miss Nite properly sat down and where I got a few member get her some food. I didn't understand food, nor I needed it, but I knew that most other species couldn't survive long without it. The Captain seemed grateful, as I called for Black and White.

My Masters adhered in no time, showing up at the same moment.
"My lady."
Bows. They were even bowing at the same time, like well set clocks. My Masters Assassins, not even slightly surprised to see their Queen young enough to play their daughter. They were both my most trusted, though I was sure they didn't really understand it. No one understands it when they once offer to be possible hosts, not until they become so for the first time. I smiled a little.
"Black and White, good, you're here," I said, amused by the way my guest Captain's lips curled into a smile. They both gave her their killer looks, so she turned serious again, and I stared at the cookies on the table for a moment.
"Captain Noni just arrived with some information," I said then. "Some pirates have been spotted about two days from here."

They stayed calm, expressionless, not taking their eyes of me. I could tell, though, how they both must have felt. I knew their pasts as good as they knew their jobs - possibly better. Black spoke first.
"Do you want us to attack, my lady?"

I considered it already when Captain Nite asked me the same before, while we were still alone. I answered them the same I told her.
"I have given the instructions to set the course. Our shields and our cloaks are up, and so will be the assassins. We will be able to come close enough to see what they're doing here, and what is the ship we are to deal with. I do not want either of you to attack until I say so, but be ready. We shall see what, if anything, we are against here."

They bowed again, this time not looking at me. They hated staying calm, when their enemies were so close, I knew that, and I knew they both had proper reasons for judging me for it; yet I also knew they will do as asked. Just as always.

Auden Marle
'Nym's power never ceases to amaze me,' I thought as I stood formally by Captain Nite.
'I would do anything to watch her transform into another person,' I thought, remembering the man she had been only moments ago. I heard her speak but I hadn't been really paying attention until she announced, "Some pirates have been spotted about two days from here."
For a moment my eyes grew wider as I listened to the Captain and Nym speak. Pirates? I hadn't seen one in a long time and the mention of them made me want to sneer. Yet I had to stay calm and collected. But I still thought of the stories Lilian had told me when I was younger about their savagery. I wondered if we should attack then I heard Nym instruct White and Black as to what will be done.
'No attacking quite yet? I don't see why not! We could go ahead and take them out. We're ready!' I knew better than to verbalize these thoughts, even so I bit my lip against the words. Whatever the queen says goes, no questions asked.

You're new? Great seas! Why haven't you gone to the Buddy System yet?

You're dealing with writers. The words "normal" and "usual occurrence" do not compute.

Docco 'Wings' Mason

I sighed. "You've been doing this for much too long, Billy."

"An' dat won't be stoppin' anytime soon." He chuckled.

My feathers rustled with the passing wind and I put my hands to my shoulders. How the captain managed to keep the ship so cold in the middle of space still surprised me. After exhaling a breath of smoke, I turned to Jim, "Think Old Lady Bianca's gonna turn on the heaters anytime soon? I'm about a second away from melting all of this ice myself."

"I dun really mind."

I shook my wings and looked around. There were a few planets off in every direction, but like always, we were avoiding them. All our captain cared about was attacking ninjas.

"Hey, Kayra, was it?" I said, now turning to the cabin girl, "I think that's enough. You can take a break now."

She looked relieved as she packed up her equipment and started to leave.

"What'd you do dat for?"

I sighed again, "Doesn't this ever get boring, Jimmy?"

Spoiler
Sorry, I got confused with the whole 'super cold ship' and a cabin girl using too much water while she's scrubbing ^.^'
