Mercury - The Deck of the Silver Shuriken - and then other places

The world was moving in slow motion around me, blood and spit flew through the air. I was dodging swords and knives and bullets from every direction. But soon I tired and someone managed to trip me. I hit the deck with a loud THUD, there was no sound.

Everything was darker, and all I could hear was my communicator ringing -

"Mercury! We need you back on the boat, now! And Mari is in the infirmary, she's asking for you." I stand, yelling after Wings who was a ways away.

"Wings! I'm going to help Mari!" I yell.

A second passes and I feel a presence behind me - I turn in a second to see a ninja with a white bandanna about to swing a sword at me. But then for a second he stops, and then runs the other direction.

The Hell?

I shake a thought a way, and then run toward the deck to my rope and swing back to the Ice Star.

I get to the infirmary and Mari is sitting on the table, a bloodying hole in her arm - I wince in pain when I see it.

"Do I really look that bad?" I nod and begin to pick her up to help her to the medical table so she can get stitches - she passes out in my arms. I set her down slowly, and just sort of stand watching everything go around and around.

"Mercury, meet me at the Ice Core." I hear the Captain over the intercom, her voice shaky.

It takes me a moment to remember where the Ice core is, but then I was there.

"Called Captain?" I say.

"Yea, let's hurry, we could still catch those Sky Ninjas inside the blizzard if we quick,"

"Right, Tundra Snow?"

She nods, and then I mimic along with her. We move through the actions that she'd shown me a hundreds of times, we created a blizzard I guess; she'd never told me exactly what it did.

"Setting course for: Jaqurin Home-world" it announced.

"So what now?" I ask.

She slaps me across the face.

"Ow! What was that for?!"

"That was for jumping the gun! I was about to call Captain Rydia, this could have all been avoided."

"I'm sorry Captain, it won't happen again..." she just sort of breathes heavily and walks away.

Perseus Wolfe | Ninja's Dungeon

There were rules for 'Prisoner Of War' back then. I suddenly hoped that it was still there, specially in the Ninja' Code of Conduct. They were noble men, I though and that made me much relaxed...

I was wounded, my wounds were still green, I think they didn't notice. The pain was easing but I bet that if I had my medicines with me, I would be better. They had me enclosed in a prison, it seemed like glass, but I guess it was stronger. My hidden blade was taken and so were my throwing knives.

Think...Think....They are sure to kill me...No!...Think...How do I get out of here?

I noticed that there were some guards staring at me. What did they mention me as, Bird-Man. Great! At least, I am known as someone.

I think they feared me. They though me as a leopard in cage. Once opened, I will run, not to mention, after killing to some of those...

But then a someone came to the room...

Nym pointed at Black and White and said something about her quarters and they walked away. I looked around. Counting my internal stock of the crew. Some of the lower ninjas were missing.

That's what some of the higher members of this ship didn't realize, nor, I think, did they care. There were casualties. I couldn't tell exactly how much, but it didn't matter.

I cared. I did what I had to, but I cared for each and every person I killed before. In fact, I know how many people I killed and their names.

The rest of the ninjas stood around for a few minutes then departed. I decided to follow suit and meet Auden in the infirmary.

Perseus Wolfe | Prison

A women appeared out of the thin air. She came from nothingness. Her figure fluttered taking a form of a beautiful young maiden. I have heard about her, she was Nymery, the greatest assassin queen. Her dark purple eyes gazed in mine and I heard something, not sure where the voice was coming from...

"Perseus Wolfe, the assassin who turned pirate. You are innocent, but you killed two of my men today. So, unfortunately, I will have to punish you. "

"Percy, go out from the back door", a women wearing Italian assassins outfit said. There was pain on the woman's face and if you saw closely, you could see signs of tears.

"Mother, please come with me.", said the boy crying.

"No, I can't, go to the south wall when the war has ceased and you. You will find your father there."
The door banged...
"Go now! Quick!"

The boy went out obediently, when he was at a good distance, he heard metal banging and sound of swords. He turned back.

But he ran again, faster this time. Tears filled his eyes, his vision dazed...

I was on my knees now and a drop of tear rolled from my eyes. It took me seconds to realize what has just happened.

"Look, you crumbled before me. But I make sure, that my first impression don't decide who I am."

"That was a forgotten memory. How did I see that?"

"Your subconscious has it. You just need to dive deep within."

"Would you do that again?"

"Later, I have a offer for you..."

When I saw Mari with that bloody shoulder, I realized that this war was too much. The hatred between pirates and ninjas is getting overboard. I just can't stand watching my friends getting hurt. Either we do some kind of peace thingy or we defeat their ninja asses. They won't know what's coming.

I ran into the elevator and got up to the top deck. The view was horrific. Everything was bloody, broken. I looked around, noticing our ship getting wrecked. Even their ship was getting ruined. I couldn't believe this. I wonder where Rydia is. Not important. Wings and Jimmy were battling it out with the ninjas. Man, were those ninjas good. It wasn't pleasant to see their butts get kicked, you know?

My weapon at hand, a nice sword which also contained venom inside if someone got slashed by it. There was a cure to this but I'll mention later. My dad made it for me when I was young. For protection of the war. Oh was it horrible back then...

"And what do you think you're doing here?"'Jimmy asked.

All this viewing of the action didn't lead me to realize that I had walked all the way to Wings and Jimmy.

"Helping," I replied, short, and ran off to one of the many ninjas.

The worst part of it all was that they knew how to fight. I'm not saying I don't, I'm just saying that it's not surprising they are beating the captains asses. But we gotta try hard. These guys don't deserve to win the war, pirates do.

I swung my sword toward the ninja in front of me but he quickly jumped, dodging it. Dammit.

I woke up 3 days later alone in the ship, terrified. I got up realizing I'm not that weak like I thought I was going to be. When I looked around all I saw was a note, it read: Ninjas have captured Perseus, its your job to get him back. -Caption. Great, now I have to be a hero again. I sighed and tested my arm. It was my left arm so I was able to have just enough strength to hold my bow steady. As I took a couple practice shots at the wall and set of to the bow of the ship. I could see the ninja ship in the distance so I grabbed a near-by hang glider. I took a couple steps back and jumped off the ship screaming in excitement. I wrapped my arms around the handle to support my hurt arm. I flew though the air smiling and slowly steered my glider into the direction of the enemies ship. I had found a black scarf in my bag by the bed so when I landed I put it on and swung my bow around my shoulder. I had mastered the art of lying years ago so this trip will be easy.

As I arrived at the prison entrance the guard stopped me, "Password?" He asked holding his up to my chest. I glared at him and sighed resting my hand on his shoulder. I smiled and pushed his pressure point into his collar bone till he was out cold.

"Night, night." I whispered as I skipped inside the gate. I quickly sneaked into the office keeping my head down and took out another guard and put on his uniform. I stole his keys and set off for Perseus. I found him in a cage, guarded by 10 other guards. The nodded to me and I set off to the tower where his cage was.

"Master, where are you going?" One of the ninjas asked. To free our slave I said trying to put on a husky voice. The stared at confusion and sighed and set off for another cage to watch. I smiled and got out Perseus.

"Thanks," He said quietly.

"Just paying you back for saving my life," I said smirking and jumping off the tower. I took out my bow and ran with him close behind me to my hang-glider. I reached for it but Perseus shook his head and wrapped his arms around my waist. I blushed and he soared off to our ship. He set me down and I quickly undressed out of my ninja costume. I pulled out my hair and let it fall to my waist as I thanked him again for saving my life. Perseus srugged and waked off to probably eat something. I smiled knowing I was back in the game of fighting.

I hated this girl. Mari. I was very close to becoming a ninja, of course, the Ninja Queen would have recognized my potential. This girl ruined my chance. She better had to be happy with the guy named Mercury. She's got herself into trouble.

My mood was bad. I stormed down to my cabin. The speaker announced, "Perseus Wolf, please meet the Captain at her office."

Now what? I was tired...

I have to get out of here...

I take the lift...

Go out to the deck...

I run at my full...Jumping off the deck...I open my wings...Flap them...Rise up...Soar...I love that feeling...I make my way towards the ninja ship

You know this whole think of capturing one of our pirates, it's not great. They somehow manage to get their hands on one of them. Those damn ninjas. Mari saved him though and took him back here. But that ungrateful son of a bitch. I saw him fly back to the ninja ship.

I don't know if I should even tell anyone. But I do believe Mari should know. After I finished washing all the dishes and cleaning the bottom deck, I looked for her. She was in the kitchen, biting into an apple.

"Hey Mari," I smiled.

"Hey," she smiled back.

"I have to tell you something..."

She looked at me, I'm pretty sure she was a little scared of what I was going to say. I walked up to her, jumping onto the kitchen island. I sat on it, the cold wood not so pleasant.

"What's going on?"

"Well, I saw Perseus."

"Okay...?"

I shouldn't just keep pushing it away, but for some reason I just couldn't tell her.

"Kiera! I need your help on the deck." I heard Jimmie call.

Saved.

"I'll tell you later, gotta run!" I pointed up.

I jumped off the island and headed up to the elevator. Going up, I got off and saw the ninja ship. It was farther than when we were fighting. We had to spread ourselves apart. I don't really know what caused us to stop for a while, but we stopped thankfully. I didn't need the fighting. None of us did.

Looking around the deck, I couldn't find Jimmie.

"Hey, Jimmie!" I said.

Nothing.

"Jimmie, where the hell are you?"

I started to walk around, looking for him. It was useless, he was no where. That's when someone's hand covered my mouth and pulled my arms behind my back.

"Jim that's not funny." I tried to say but my words were more like mur mur mur mur.

This person pulled me by the edge of the deck and then we glided to the ninja ship. Oh Jesus Christ no. Oh Jesus. I was being kidnapped by ninjas.

Kicking, pulling, I tried everything. But I didn't want to fall in mid-air. Dying was not a better option in this situation. When we landed he didn't let me go but I tried my best to pull away. To fight my way out of it.

"Oh stop it you pesky pirate," he hissed.

Jimmie had to be here too. Somewhere.

~Nym

My Masters Assassins joined me in my quarters, where they stood somewhat puzzled, not knowing what they could touch and what their hands would go through. I didn't bother to explain anything, nor to offer them to make themselves at home. I waited for them to speak first - eventually, Black did so.
"Lady Nym," she said. "Are you alright?"
I frowned at him. Is it so obvious how tired I am? I thought. I didn't want it to be. I was never really that tired - yet again, I never before used my powers to trick so many people at the same time, nor changed so much in such short period.
"I'm alright," I said. "Most certainly well enough to hear an explanation."
We both glared at White, who made a growling sound before answering.
"They were pirates, Nym," he said, like I didn't know it. "Our crew members, our apprentices, went down to fight for our cause, and you just wanted us to stay and watch! As Master Assassin, my job was to-"
"Your job is to listen to me," I cut his words, all the traces of sweet young girl now gone. Battles do that. "As Master Assassin, you should be protecting others of our group, not lead those.. Children.. To the battle and risk all their lives so you could get your taste of revenge."

I haven't raised my voice once, I didn't even make it sound like withholding any emotion - but he looked away as if I yelled at him. His fists clutched, as if he's imagining attacking me, but I pretended not to care. I didn't want to enter his thoughts, not now, wondering if what I'd see there would make me want to search for a new Master.
"Black," I said, and she looked me straight in the eyes, as if challenging me to take a look. It was almost tempting. "You just went with his plan, seizing the opportunity as it arrived, caring more to do your killing than for all of those the pirates would do."
"My lady," she said through her teeth, "at the time, our men were already there, and-"
"I expected more from you." I looked at both of them, still frowning though really just happy neither of them died. "From both of you. When captain Rydia asked us to retreat, you were to wait for my orders. Granted, so were them. But what you did was still foolish."
"We could have-"
"Take their ship over?" I finished Black's sentence, smirking a little. "I don't know if you met captain Bianca - I have found out enough about her to be smarter than sending my apprentices on that ship. If you got to her or to the ship's core, you could have ended up dead, all of you."
What do you care anyway? Said their eyes. You don't ally understand emotions. You don't understand pain, or what it means to lose someone!

I sighed, noticing that my appearance got somewhat transparent. "I am not angry because of what you did, but of what you didn't do. Use your brains next time - or if you're unable, have faith in mine. I would never let members of my crew die if I can avoid it." I thought they knew that.

Both Masters stared at me with something between fear and concern, anger disappearing form their eyes. I let myself look this time - neither wanted to make me mad again, and neither felt like planning a mutiny. At least that was good - I would've hated it if I had to kill them.

"Do you understand?" I asked, and the duo nodded as one. I smiled a sad smile.
"Good then." I was silent for a moment, and so were them.
"I'm sorry," White said then. "It was reckless. It won't happen again."
"I trust you two," I said, and they seemed somewhat surprised. Of course, they had every right so far to believe in it, but I never really said it before. "You do know what to do and when to do it, that is why you are what you are. But you need to put aside your own feelings. If you can't do that, you're making yourself as vulnerable as our apprentices.. And myself along with you."

Letting them leave and hoping they understand just how hard it was for me to see the deaths of all the members we lost, I headed to the prisons, finding our caught pirate with wings.
One glance was enough to know who he was, and how his story went on. I didn't know who was the ninja who denied him the right of being one of us - I did know how much he regretted it, though.
"Perseus Wolfe," I said slowly, "the assassin who turned pirate." I wanted to hesitate, but I couldn't feel sorry for him. I couldn't ignore the sadness of my crew, that I could feel as clearly as my own. This man, I knew, wasn't exactly one of our enemies. And I could use him, if I only played my cards well. "You are innocent, but you killed two of my men today. So, unfortunately, I will have to punish you. "

I let my mind enter his, and followed the feelings of lost and sadness, finding my way to the memories. He stood through a while, falling to his knees as the mother from the memories told him to run away. I saw tears in his eyes, and I stopped, not allowing myself to smile a dark smile. I knew he wanted me to show him more - I knew he knew that I could make his memories return or change, I knew he knew that I could show him the happiest days of his life.

"Look, you crumbled before me." I was almost proud of how cold my voice sounded. "But I make sure, that my first impression don't decide who I am."
He was shaking, but seemed more intrigued than scared.
"That was a forgotten memory. How did I see that?"
"Your subconscious has it," I explained shortly. "You just need to dive deep within."
He was silent for a second, then licked his lips.
"Would you do that again?"
This time, I did smile.
"Later, I have an offer for you." I let my voice trail off a little, then passing through the wall of his prison - his eyes widened a bit, but he said nothing. I then kneeled on the floor in front of him, my eyes not leaving his. "If you'd came to me, I would have given you your chance. Do you still want it?"
He stared at me, with a question mark in his eyes. After all I did? I smiled a little again.
"Yes, after all you did. I can give you everything you wanted to have."
"Captain Bianca already-"
"-gave you what she wanted to, enough to make you hers. I see. Well, then," I got up, knowing he will call me back. "I believe you hope she will rush to save you. Unfortunately, I won't let your memories of this place tell your captain what to do. As I leave this prison, you will forget you ever spoke to me."
I turned my back on him. For a moment, nothing happened - than he got up and reached for my hand. He didn't touch it - he couldn't - but I did stop and turn back.
"Yes?"
He nodded slowly, breathing as people always breath when making hard decisions.
"What do you want me to do?"
I opened my mouth, but my mind trailed off for a moment; there was someone on the ship, someone who wasn't supposed to be here - a pirate. Interesting. I grinned.
"Someone is coming to rescue you," I said. "Before they do, you must allow me to enter your mind."
He turned paler than me. He must have heard of Possessions, and what I could do with him then. I shook my head.
"For a second."
He finally nodded, and I let my human form disappear, dissolving into the true from of nothing one could properly describe. I could now see everything in his past, looking at the prison at the same time through his eyes. But I didn't need a vessel to stay in.

"Thank you," I said as I turned human again. His breathing was heavy and he seemed a bit as if he saw a ghost, but otherwise he was okay. "That will be it, for now. See you, once. I will do nothing to stop your knight in shiny armour from saving you now."

I left his prison, informing the guards not to raise noise. He was useless in prison, and I couldn't really let him wander the ship. No, I needed to be patient and follow my own plan. I grinned at myself, tired again but happy with the accomplished. I didn't quite leave his mind when I went out - a part of me stayed, hidden somewhere in his memories.
When he touches a person, it will be like opening gates: I will be able to enter their minds as well, no questions asked. And what was the best part, it will just keep going on and on, until I will be able to see fragments of thoughts of each member of the pirate crew - and take their bodies at my will. But I wasn't planning on ever doing that.

"Any of the apprentices drop?" Siavash asked. I shrugged, having no idea, and turned to Rasheck.

He looked uncomfortable, but answered, "I heard most of them got into the fight. I don't know if any didn't make it, but it would make sense given their lack of training. Chiana, you might have died if Siavash hadn't been there."

I nodded. "I definally would of." I turned to Siavash. "Thank you. What was all that about the winged man?" Then I thought about it for a second and flushed bright red. "Never mind." Cat person plus bird person equals trouble.

Siavash stretched, baring his teeth. "Where is he, anyway? I'd like to go talk to him."

I shook my head. "Black told us you had to stay here. I think she didn't want you killing a potential hostage." Holding my breath, I wondered what he would do.

The fight had ended and the ship was a mess, as Kiera was helping heal the wounded I was left to clean up. Blood was everywhere flowing over the deck, here and there you could see traces of a battle. Cuts from a sword or punctures from a bullet.

I was mopping up the blood everyone was down in the cabins, either resting or healing. I was all alone, I looked over the rail and saw the Ninja ship from a distance. It was like looking at a monster hovering in midair.

Cleaning up would take most of the night and the morning, so as soon as she could Kiera joined me. She took one end of the ship and I the other. I saw her going back down to the kitchens her face in a deep thought, something was bothering her. I looked back over to the Ninja ship. Nothing had changed.

Trying to get a bullet out of this kind of wood is impossible. I called Kiera for help and heard her coming up again, the suddenly everything went dark.

Auden Marle. Ignore the earlier post.
I sat on the bed in the infirmary with my legs crossed. They had just finished wrapping my arm and told me to stay for a minute to rest. Before long there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," I said. The door opened and Ruiz slipped in.
"How's the arm?" he asked, looking at the bandages. I resisted touching it and said it was ok.
"They said they'll have to amputate it," I said jokingly and smiled at his surprised expression which turned into a smile.
"So, what's going on now?" I asked.
"Well..." He explained the situation.
Sorry about this:P I didn't know what to do with this post.

I went with Chiana to watch over Siavash. He had been confined to his quarters, and we had to make sure he stayed. I can't believe I was so Stupid, Foolishly running into battle the way I did. I should have never left Chiana's side. I know that she is perfectly capable of handling herself, but she's still an apprentice. The thought of losing her makes my insides twist, I hope it doesn't show outwardly.

Chiana asks me about the other apprentices. I didn't want to sound harsh, because in honesty she was the only one I cared about. I told her I knew they went into battle, but I didn't know if any hadn't returned. There was no point in pinning the death toll on ones mind right after a battle. there would be time for mourning later. I'm just so relieved that she returned safely....I let a little sentiment slip into my response to her question. I hope she isn't offended.. oh man, what if she doesn't like me at all? I look up at her. "I think you can manage alone, I'm gonna go... train or something."

I walk out the door as she says, "see you later". It sound's like a statement more than a question. It is rather probable considering we Are on a ship in the air, and our quarters are on the same level. I just need to sit in my room awhile and think, yeah that's all...

I go onto the entry of the ninja's ship. The guard ninja say, "Your highness has been expecting you. Follow me."

He leaded me to the Queen's chamber. The door was shut. I knocked.
A voice sounded inside my head, Come in.

I opened the door to find it empty. I step inside, suddenly, I sense something behind me, moving closer, silently. It comes closer...

I quickly throw my hand in its direction, hidden blades extract. My hand goes through it. Nothingness take the form of a little girl, "Impressive, very few have so sharp senses."

I bent down on a knee, "My lady."

"I offer you a place in our ranks."

"Thank You, my lady."

I hear some sounds from some where far, a girl shouting. The voice comes close and at last the door bangs open. A ninja carrying a girl, she was Kiera.

"Your Highness, we have captured a pirate..."

"Leave her here and go"

He dropped the girl and went out closing the door behind him. And Nym says, "Don't think of running my dear girl."

Kiera seemed a little afraid. Her face was sweating. Her face looked at Nym and then switched to me as if saying to save her.

"She is a little girl, a good girl indeed, she is just a cabin girl" and I added, "Your Highness"

"I know," and then she faced to Kiera, "Come here little one."

Kiera stepped forward, her legs were trembling, her gaze switched to me and she moved closer towards Nym.
