Envie sighed at the question.

"It's one of two things. If I get asked to the dance, I'll go, if not I'll do like I do every year and go buy myself a box of chocolates and watch horror movies alone in my-" Holy crap. It was Valentine's Day. Exactly a year ago she'd slipped that poison into her dad's evening coffee.

The flashback hit hard. She saw her parent's house in full clarity, could smell the breakfast cooking. Oatmeal, the tasteless kind. She'd come downstairs, wearing the shirt her admirer had bought her. Come to think of it, it was the same All That Remains shirt she was wearing this year. The guy had courting her like a Gothic prince, her dream guy made real. But she'd gotten to school, only to hear he'd been transferred.

Her father, being the asshole of a lawyer he was, had the guy sent to another school, claiming he was harassing Envie. She had spent the rest of the day in her room, crying. It had been this way her entire life, it was the reason she'd changed her name and started getting into trouble. Her father and mother had always taken joy out of ruining her life, and her older sister hadn't helped matters by making Envie's life at school hell as well.

It was Valentine's Day that Envie finally snapped. With cold calmness, she mixed up a deadly poison of household products and poured it into the coffee pot as it was brewing on the counter. Then she sat and watched as her father poured a cup and drank. When he collapsed, she quietly got up, walked over and spit on him.

He didn't die, the poison wasn't quite right, he was taken to a hospital and treated. He then had her sent to this school for troubled youth. He didn't want to send her to juvie and she was too young for jail, not that he'd send her there either. She was his daughter, and his snotty rich friends would have heard about it if she'd been put through the legal courts. He just lied to the doctors and his pals and had her shipped off.

"Envie? Are you okay?" Starlet asked, gingerly tapping Envie's shoulder.

Envie snapped out of her memories and focused on Star. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine. I just zoned out. Sorry."
Llama 1:"Shh! Do you hear that? That's the sound of forgiveness."
Llama 2:"That's the sound of people drowning, Carl!"
Llama 1:"That is what forgiveness sounds like; screaming and then silence."

I tapped Envie on the shoulder.
"Hello? Earth to Envie." She shook her head and looked down at me, I hate being short.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I ran my fingers through my hair.
"You kind of spaced out there." A couple of kids ran in front of us cutting off our path.
"Stupid freshmen," Envie mumbled," And yeah, I know, I was just thinking." We went to sit down on one of the benches that was guarded under a tree.
"Thinking of what," I whispered, pulling me legs up to my chest.
"Nothing, just how I got here." Envie lay back with her hands behind her head, deep in thought. I wish I could read minds.

My eyes snapped open to the blazing ring of my alarm

I sat groggily up on the bottom bunk in the east boy's dorm. The other boys groaned in protest as they to awoke the the angry ring.

"Sorry!" I yelled, and more people awoke and angrily yelled back. I slid out of the covers and milled my way through the array of bunks to the dorm's bathrooms. I took a nice long shower and in 10 minutes, I was ready for first period.

I walked briskly out of the dorm entrance and down the elegant stairs and through the white walled hallways that connected all the room in the school.

It seemed that the "Accident," as they called it now, two days ago was just a faded memory. Unfortunately the after effects were not. Yesterday, I repeatedly lost control while day dreaming and sent the whole class into my imagination.

I had begun to realize how it worked though. It seemed that it all had something to do with senses. Somehow, i could tap into other peoples senses and insert fake things.

I strode into science class, and I seemed to be the only one there. My phone buzzed, and I slid it out of my jean pockets.

Hey, where are youit read. It was from Starlet. I texted back and sat down in my chair. Hopefully i could control myself today.

**sorry if i back stepped a little. Any of you could be in my science class if you want.***

Andrew

I ran down the sidewalk, trying to catch up to Envie and Star. "Guys, wait up!" Finally they saw me and slowed to a stop.

Breathless, I looked at them both and smiled. "It looks like everyone totally forgot what happened yesterday. It feels like a werid dream to me. Anyway...HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!"

They both regarded me with blank faces. I sighed. "Yeah I know, but trying to help the mood..."

I muffled a giggle at Andrew's failed attempt to "brighten the mood." I looked around and saw everyone scrambling before the much hated first bell.
"We'd better get to class," I mumbled, dragging each of them towards the buildings," Mr.Fern's gonna freak if we are late for science again." The first bell rang, an ominous silence fell upon us.
"Go," Envie yelled. We all took off in a prize-worthy sprint, making it into class just before the tardy bell screamed.
"Nice of you girls to join us," Mr.Fern hissed," Take your seats!" I scrambled tot he back, claiming a seat next to Phelix, Andrew and Envie filled in on either side of us.
"Today, class, we will be discussing the mating habits of the walrus." I let my head drop to the table in an audible thunk and drifted off into sleep.

Envie just shrugged as Andrew caught her breath. Jeez, that little flashback had ruined her entire mood. She was surprised she'd been able to bury the memory so well. It was almost a shock to recall it so clearly. Taking a deep breath, she focused on the here-and-now.

"We better get to class." Starlet stated, looking at the other kids dashing for their classes. "Mr.Fern's gonna freak if we are late for science again."

The bell rang and the girls looked at each other. "Go!" Envie yelled and they all took off running down the hall. They flew around a corner and dashed into their science class. Breathless, they glanced at each other and started laughing, earning them a scornful look from the teacher.

They took their seats near Phelix, still giggling. "So, who's going with who to the dance?" Andrew whispered when the teacher started the lesson.

Envie put a finger to her lips "SHHHH!" I shrugged, looking at Star and Phelix, they were cute together, but I wished someone would ask me... but then again, who would want to go with a multicolored eye, element controlling freak like me?

Starlet walked into the room accompanied by Andrew and Envie

I frowned and said hello in their minds.

"That's just creepy," Starlet said, smiled, and sat down next to me.
"Just practicing," I said back. Mr. Fern stood up in the front of class with his arms crossed. Andrew whispered something about the dance when Mr. Fern started speaking.

"Now, everybody get you weather data sheets out and fill out today," he said in a monotone. Starlet slumped her head onto her desk and groaned. How about we get out of here?I said only to her. She looked at me funny and replied,

"How about a beach, at sunset," I smiled, and suddenly we both were smelling the salt of the ocean, and the cool breeze.

I gawked at the beach that suddenly spread before my eyes.
"This is better than the meadow!" I laughed and fell on the sand, letting myself sink into it.
"I was hoping you'd like it," Phelix whispered, laying next to me.
"I love it." I breathed in the scent of the fresh salt water and let out a huge sigh. Yeah, I could learn to really love it here.

"I'm not much of a fan for Valentine's Day. I may get out of my habit of watching horror movies and come to the dance. It's just that..." She wasn't sure if she wanted to tell Andrew what her reluctance really was. That wound was still fresh, despite her innate ability of hiding it. "I just hate watching all the mushy-gushy crap."

Andrew rolled her eyes and leaned back in her chair. Envie bit her lip as her chest tightened. Damn, she hated this holiday. Looking up the rows, she saw little pieces of paper float from hand to hand and people looking at one another, nodding. There was a heck of a lot of "Will you be mine" moving about. Envie immediately stomped on the tear-jerking sadness that was welling up, replacing it with her antidote of anger at the world. As her brows fell to the position they'd held for a year before the "Accident", she slouched in her seat. Her iPod slid out of her pocket and her earbuds went into her ears stealthily. She shook her hair so it covered the earpieces and turned on Marylin Manson. The volume only went up enough to drown out Mr. Fern, and Envie relaxed, pulling out a novel and hiding it in her textbook to make it seem like she was reading the chapter.

Focus as she might, the words on the page didn't make it to her brain. All she could do is remember him. Tall, muscular, with black hair that was run-through with green streaks. His eyes were the color of emeralds, and that smile could warm even the coldest of hearts. Hell, it had melted that pumping block of ice that took up residence in her own chest. He'd taken her to see Paranormal Activity on their first date, and she'd had her face buried in his chest throughout the majority of it. They were going to spend Valentine's Night in the ancient cemetery Envie lived near. She definitely didn't reget trying to off her father.

A light tap on her hand brought her back and the chill that followed the tap made her look down. A small black drop of water lay on her wrist. She quickly wiped under her eyes. Crap, she was crying. And in class, too. She really hated this holiday!
