"We'll see what happens, but I doubt he wants to while she is in the hospital, I think she would understand that." Phil smiled. "Enough talk about that, let's get in there and talk to tehm."
"Hey, maybe we should wait to tell them. Give him a little while to ask."
"YOu sure?" PHil asked. She nodded. "Ok, but not to long."
I sighed, I really wanted to go home. But Colt was still on my cot so it was a little better than before.
"I want to go home," I groaned.
"I want you home too, but not until you're better."
"I feel better."
"You've felt better and had been wrong before."
An attney walked in, "Ms Goldsmith?"
I turned my head, "yes?"
"We have your insurance settlement prepaired."
"Oh?" I took it from him, looked at the number and gasped, the heart monitor going insane.
"That's not all your insurance though," he assured me, "thats some of the settlement that the driver of the truck's insurance so you wouldn't sue him."
"I hadn't planned on sueing him."
"Either way, the money is yours."
The monitor went insane again. a hundred thousand dollars was just mine?
Colt didn't even look at the paper but looked at the doctor. "She'll be getting some from her insurance too, right?" He asked.
"Yes, she will. She is also free to go." The Attorney smiled, then turned and left. Colt got up, took the paper, and folded it not looking at the sum. He didn't want to know what it was.
"This won't expire, you dont' need to give yourself a heart attack on top of things." He said tucking it in her jacket pocket then helping her up. "I hope with both insurance checks you'll be taken care of for a while plus some."
"Colt, didn't you see how much!" She gasped. "It was...."
"No, I didn't see how much and it doesn't matter, they couldn't ever pay you enough for what happened. Let's go before they change their mind about keeping you here longer."
I was all in shock. That was a huge number. As we were leaving Senra and Phil walked in. I bounced a step foward before Colt was at my side, slowing my stride. I shoved the paper at her, "that is all mine!" she squealed.
Senra hugged her and smiled. "That's great. Is it from your insurance?"
"No, it's from the guy that hit me. I haven't gotten my insurance's ones yet." Annie replied.
"I don't think they can pay for hurting her." Colt grumpled walking past.
"Has he seen that number?" Senra asked watching Colt wait at the door.
"No, and he says he doesn't want to because they couldn't pay for hurting me no matter how much money they give me. But that's a heck of a lot of money." She grinned.
Colt looked over at Phil and raised an eyebrow. He wlaked over to him. "Beat me to the punch." He said quiet so that only he heard. "Annie was suppoed to tell her first, though I'm not surprised."
Senra:
Senra grinned and hugged her more. "Come on, let's go celebrate!"
"I like that idea!" I skipped up to the boys so I could speak through their shoulders, "who thinks one more night here would be good?"
Colt didn't seem to like that idea, Phil did a little though.
"We need to celebrate the engagement!" I pleaded with Colt. "Come on, one more night of one block partying, no rodes."
He reluctantly agreed.
We went back to my hotel room to change into more dressy clothes. I pulled out a new outfit that I had bought here and handed it to Senra. "You can wear this I just got it."
"Thanks! What are you going to wear?"
I pulled out a new shirt that I had brought, and an old skirt, "old and new."
We joined the boys back in the main room of the sweet and readied ourselves to go. "Catching a cab?"
Colt ran a hand through his hair when he saw ANnie. SHe was so hot. He wrapped his arms around her. "We'll go on the bus." He smiled as they walked out. "Less roadage." He teased.
*Grrrrr*
Senra:
Senra moved close to PHil as they got ont he bus and started towards the closest club. When they got there she smiled and followed him off the bus then right into the club where the music was pumping so loud her heart started to beat with it.
"This is gonna be great!" She yelled over the music. "I'm glad we found a babysitter for Cale."
I snickered and leaned up to say something in Colt's ear, "you're staring at me insesently tonight."
"Why shouldn't I? You're beautiful~In every sense~and it just occured to me that in the last week I almost lost you to two evils. Death and lack of determination on my part. I can assure you though, it will never happen again. I will never let you go." Tears bubbled and spilled over my cheeks, he cupped my face and whiped them away. "Don't cry."
While we danced, people watched us. It was uncomfortable. Nobody had really watched in my general direction before. I couldn't be dancing that good or horridly. Colt was worth watching though, the way he danced was amazing.
He leaned down and whispered in her ear, "I don't like it here."
