Mary anne cried out as Ryder set her on the ground.
"Are you ok?" he asked, looking worried. He had accidently set her on her bad foot.
"Yeah...I'll be ok." she gasped, trying to ease the pain. She noticed he wasn't wincing anymore, so to take his attention of of her, she asked, "Hey, is you side still hurting you?"
He winced. "No."
"Liar."
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are."
He laughed. "Whatever."
"At least let me take a look at it." she said, reaching for his shirt. Grabbing it, she gently pulled him down next to her. Seated he grimaced at her as she lifted the shirt to reveal rock hard abs, lean waist and a gash about 6 inches long on his side. She gasped.
"See. i told you it was nothing." he replied cooly.
"Nothing? You have a 6 in. gash on your side, and you call that nothing?" Without thinking, she ran her fingers along his side, gently brushing teh gash.
"I'm sorry." he said.
"Sorry? Sorry for what?"
"For this." He leaned over and brushed his mouth over hers for a few seconds, before drawing back. He sttod up and walked off to help the guy they had met fish.
She just sat there stunned. She had never been kissed before.
Ryder smiled, that would make her forget about the cut for a while. He would have to wash it out later. He sat down and started to fish. "You worked fast to build shelter." He commented.
"Yup, figured I better get a move on things instead of just sitting around. YOu were doin good too get fire wood."
"Thanks, should've thought to come back here." He shrugged and yanked his stick forcing the hook into the fish that just bit his line. He pulled it out and took the fish off the hook tossing it in the bucket of water then throwing his line back in.
Ryder jerked his line again as the cork bobbed. He pulled the fish out of the water and frowned, it was to small to keep. He tossed it back in and then baited his line again throwing it in the water.
"Why'd you let that one go?" Mary Anne asked sitting down slowly.
"To small, he's still got to grow some more before he'll be good to eat." He smiled. He grabbed the last of the make shift poles and handed it to her after baiting it for her. "SEe if you can catch anything."
Ryder frowned, "What?" He shook his head, this girl was interesting. He left his pole where it was and grabbed her's putting her hands on it. He covered her hands iwth his and then helped her cast her line. "Watch the cork. When it bobs give the line a good jerk then pull it in." He said grabbing his line again and watching his own cork.

Every rose has it's thorn.. Just like every night has it's dawn.
I've matured a lot and I realised it was time to come back.. for good!
