The Dreamer

In Poems

They can look,
They can stare;
say all they want
I won’t care

“You’re foolish and you’re wrong!”
Whatever their words
It’s the same old song.

I won’t give reason;
Nor excuse.
Explain myself to them?
That, I refuse.

‘Cause at the end of the day,
When on my bed I lay
With a tortured mind
And a bruised pride,

I redeem my thoughts
And remove myself,
From their selfish plots.

I don’t need a dagger,
I don’t need a hammer
To remove my obstacles,
I don’t need miracles.

With a fearless heart
And a determined soul,
Wherever I’m at,
I will reach my goal.

Then I’ll show them

That in this world,
A handful of money
Is just fool’s gold.

But my worn out jeans
Have a pocket full of hope;
And through any hardship,
I’m able to cope.

When they doubted me,
And called me a dreamer
Today they’ll see,
I’ve lived on forever
In the truth that has prevailed
And the song where I’m Hailed

They’ll repent for their deeds
And reap misery
From their seeds.

So the next time,
You see a boy,
With an angry face
Wearing jeans of joy,

“The dreamer”, You’ll call him,
What they called me

And when his life looks dim
And he’s cursed eternally,

Tell him to look up
Because stars only spark
When the sky is dark

And one only dreams
When reality is,
Not what it seems.

I loved it. Particularly the fact that there wasn't a strict rhyming scheme, just where it seemed natural. It made the narrator seem more real and easier to relate to. I don't know if it really needed to be that long though because certain parts where so beautiful and insightful that a lot of it simply wasn't needed.
I loved the descriptions and the metaphor of stars... amazing ending :)

You're awesome, dude. I LOVED it. I guess what I should say is thank you for blessing the world with this specimen of pure perfection. Or does that go a tidge overboard? I don't think so. And I completely agree with the message.
So, I guess the only thing left to say is keep writing. PLEASE. :)

OH, MY GOD!! Murtuzaaaaa!!

Why had I never read this poem before?

This has to be my favorite poem ever! Sorry that this is not a review, it's actually a fan scream! *faints* I love every single word, every single line!!

Especially:

Then I’ll show them
That in this world,
A handful of money
Is just fool’s gold.

Tell him to look up
Because stars only spark
When the sky is dark

I strongly agree with your statement here. Poems don't always have to be long or long enough to understand. Two lines can speak more then 100 lines. As long as there is a deep meaning to the poem, your okay. However, if your going to do a two line poem, I suggest you make it tell more than one meaning, make it tell a whole 10 pages with just a few words. If you can do that, you can do anything.

It isn't about the weight of matter being spoken. It's about being heard.
this truly applies to this writing. simplistic, yet carries strength and deep meaning.
