Maybe
the hardest sentence to accept
is she's not coming back
because I turn my head to the side
and her room is still filled with her
so what do you mean,
she's not coming back?
Just yesterday, she was
and now you're saying
that she's not anymore
but she's still here
in her room, on the couch
so what do you mean,
she's not coming back?
Maybe
the hardest sentence to accept
is she's not coming back
because it's such a foreign concept,
because I still know
that you'll walk through that door,
but they keep telling me
she's not coming back
she's not coming back.
But I still know.

Heya, Jedi here for a review!

First I wanna say that this was absolutely beautiful, and I definitely enjoyed reading it. It's very emotional, and though this is definitely somewhat of a common subject, I feel like you did a great job making it new again. Now onto some critique.
The quick transition between "so what do you mean, she's not coming back?" and "Maybe the hardest sentence to accept is she's not coming back" kinda threw me off, as the mc goes abruptly from refusing to believe she's gone to knowing that it's the "hardest sentence to accept." I feel like it could use a couple lines in between to make it smoother, but that's just my opinion
The other thing that made it a bit less smoother to read was you changing from saying "she" to "you" without a very clear transition. This is small though and at this point I'm just nitpicking, it really is just a stylistic choice.
Overall, this piece was beautiful and very emotional. Most writings on this subject end with the mc knowing that she's NOT coming back, so I loved how you changed it up a bit at the end, saying "But I still know." It really shows that the mc still believes no matter what that she's still with him. Absolutely beautiful, hope this review was helpful and I hope to read more of your works, and keep writing!
Hi! This was an interesting idea, and I think you executed it fairly well. I get exactly what you're talking about when you say "she's still here". That being said, let's get into the review!
The first thing I'd say is your stanzas. I think instead of one stanza, you should try two, the second one starting at the second "maybe". I feel like it's just a different idea from before, and also, I feel like the repetition of the "maybe" would warrant a new stanza.
The second thing is just that in your lines, "is she's not coming back", I think that the lines would sound better is you put the "is" in the line above. I also think it gives more weird to the words "she's not coming back" because it's that and only that in the line. In general, whenever you say "she's not coming back" I think it would be impactful if you put those words in their own line.
The next thing is you title. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, except that the first letting in lowercase kind of annoys me. I just want to know why you chose it and why you styled it the way you did (with the parentheses). (Haha see what I did?)) I like the styling though, because it really catches your eye when you look at it.
The last thing I'd say is that I think the "Maybe" in your poem makes it sound unsure of itself. The hardest sentence to accept/ is she's not coming back". I feel like this is like a thesis statement in an essay. Thesis statements aren't unsure. They state the argument, saying, "yeah I'm right". The maybedkesnt fit the narrator either. They're saying "this girl is coming back, no doubt". Themaybe just goes against that personality, in my opinion.
I hope this review was helpful!
