Crest

You smell like an ocean wave tonight

a smell that beckons me, come closer.

And I know well that once I do

you'll pull me under with the shells.

I run my tongue over your lips

like a whisper fades in moonlight.

I feel your fingertips press chills

into my crumbling spine.

We are not meant to love forever

I'm not even sure we are meant to love now,

but as your mouth searches dankly my skin

I cannot help but think you are mine.

And sadly, outside this starlit universe

of fever touch and chilly kisses,

where my skin is yours and time disappears,

I'm not yours. And I know it.

But do you?

This. Oh my.
As a huge romantic poem addict I really enjoyed this and the great imaginery. It made me feel stuff.

You also create such well built sentences and reading them is so pleasing I read it over for like three times.
Thank you for writing this and sharing your art with all of us!

Thank you for the kind review, chaussettes. So glad you enjoyed this piece! :)

Hey, mavisknightley! VegasLights here to give you a review!

I think your poem is absolutely beautiful, I am a person who loves romance poems! Your choice of words really fit the poem, it gave us great imagery. There was good characteristics throughout your poem and I really think that this poem is good. However, your poem was going strong in the beginning but then lost it's touch and became weak later on. In the last two stanzas I feel you could give us more characteristics and better imagery. I just didn't feel the same way I did in the beginning.

Overall, I think your poem is really good and like I mentioned before has great imagery. You could also use some semicolons instead of commas. I think your poem has a constant theme and good meaning. Sadly, all reviews must come to an end and here is the end of this one. I thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day!

Becca here for a review.

I think this poem has a lot of characteristics of good poetry. You have a good grasp of rhetorical language, "smell like an ocean wave," "pull me under with the shells," and "whisper fades in moonlight." You use imagery really well as well such as in, "crumbling spine," "mouth searches dankly my skin," and "fever touch and chilly kisses."

I think the strong tone you use in the first two stanzas is lost a bit in the latter two. I'm not sure the line "But do you?" works as its own stanza. Is there a way maybe that you could show us "we are not meant to love forever/i'm not even sure we are meant to love now," and "i'm not yours and time disappears/i'm not yours. and i know it." Everything else in this poem was so strong and then at the end there are these abstractions. See if you can show us those feelings through images like you do above. Obviously your call as the author. Can't wait to read more of your work!

Thanks for your thoughts, beccalicious94! :)

Legacy here for a review.

I love this poem. The content is there and the imagery is there. Your stanza use is great. I love how you put "but do you" on it's own line and left that as the mysterious ending. The only thing I would say is that there is some spots where you didn't put any punctuation where a semicolon should be and places where you have commas that should be periods.

Also I would change "I'm not yours. And I know it. / But do you?' into "I'm not yours. I know it, / but do you?"

Great poem. Keep doing what you do. Legacy.

Thanks for your thoughts, Thisislegacy! :)

Hello! DragonNoir here for a review!

Absolutely amazing! I'm big fan of romance and you really used that theme effectively. As well as that, you really brought the piece to life by going into detail, which really made the experience worthwhile. Also, seems like someone's having an affair? Anyways, I don't think there really is anything to improve! Just keep on doing what you do!

Thank you DragonNoir! Really appreciate your thoughts. :)

May you never steal, lie, or cheat. But if you must steal, then steal away my sorrows. And if you must lie, then lie with me all the nights of your life. And if you must cheat, then please, cheat death.
