Summer time spent,
Late night hang outs on the front steps
90 degrees but no humidity
Can feel the breeze breathe through my sleeves
And onto my cheeks, this heat knows no sweat
As I'm met with smiles
From a long while
With hugs so snug, you sway side to side
While the music blares and the dominos slam
Sizzle and smoke swirling on my nose
It's like I've felt this feeling before
Or like winter night flakes
Floating and resting on my hair
40 degrees but no cold feet
Cup of velvet chocolate warming my hands
Intertwined fingers stuffed in coat pockets
Exhaling clouds to imitate dragons
Hat hair is welcomed with playful head rubs
This cold knows no freeze
With the warmth in my cherry rose nose and cheeks
Or bodies huddled under thick sheets
It's like I've felt this feeling before
And then I look at you..
And remember how I feel
Every time I hear Luther Vandross.

I really like how this homey nostalgic feeling is used to describe a person (I hope I explained that right) it makes me feel like the narrator has a very warm, loving connection to Luther Vandross. I really like it :] it feels very personal to you and that's what matters. The ending of the poem feels like it could be interpreted as longing for another or love because of the personal connection (im new to this thing so my bad if anything sounds off)
Nice poem written by the author.
I really enjoyed how warm and nostalgic this poem feels. The contrast between summer and winter works beautifully, showing how warmth can come from memories, people, and small moments rather than just the weather. The sensory details, like the breeze, smoky domino nights, hot chocolate, and cold cheeks, make the scenes feel very personal and genuine. I also liked how the ending brings everything together through the reference to 'Luther Vandross', giving the poem a more emotional and personal meaning.
At first, I felt the poem seemed slightly incomplete, but with these final lines, I think that feeling is intentional. It leaves the reader with a sense of longing and familiarity rather than a clear conclusion. Overall, the poem feels gentle, intimate, and comforting, almost like revisiting a memory through a song.
Keep it up.
Waiting for more.
Thank you.
