True Light

Let there be light

Light formed from your love in the dark
corners of our souls only you could
ignite.

Let there be light

Your steady hand carved the bleak
horizon, which illuminated like an oil
painting.

Let there be light

You showed us that our inner beauty
transcends all the layers we hide
behind.

Let there be light

I saw light when I knelt down before
the cross, and never walked in darkness
again.

You're welcome, but what for?

For this work. For writing about something we are so often oppressed for. For being awesome. Thank you. ;)

Faith. I appreciate so many respectful reviews on this work too. It encourages me.

Although I'm not Christian, Catholic, Baptist, or other, This feels like it was made from something holy and close toy our heart. I like how you describe God and the making of light, it feels eloquent and calming.

Nitpicks

I like what you have here, but you should definently add to it. It feels unfinished in some way. Maybe something about the cross and its connection to the light in your poem.

Anywho, great poem, can't wait to read more :D

Wow. Just wow.

"God is light and in Him is no darkness at all" *insert reference I can't remember*

You completely embodied this verse in your poem and it's soooo beautiful. It's theology. It's music. And so intellectually challenging. Only like 5 sentences!!!! And... Just... Wow.

I agree with jessiethought when she was kinda confused about the third stanza. Maybe a rephrasing of it would explain your thoughts better.

So yeah I just love what you have here and I wanna read more of these. What if you wrote others like this, but with different verses!! Let me know if you do because I will eat them right up like a yummy-yum cupcake! So please do another like this!! Or nah. But I wanna read another!!!!

Hey, TheWeather! Unknown391625 here with another review!

Ok, so. This is an awesome poem! I really like it! It is a bit spiritual, because of Genesis. You used some similes, which I liked. I love how you italicized the refrain every time. That just makes it SO much better! And the ending is killer. You never walked in darkness again. Once there was light, you never walked in darkness again. It's amazing! You categorized the genres perfectly. It is very lyrical and very spiritual. You also categorized the rating, too! And it is getting a lot of likes! Good job, TheWeather! I will look for more poems by you, since you are so awesome at it! Don't give up and always write, TheWeather!

Hello, I'm Howl.

I really liked your poem. How one single sentence from the bible meant so many things to you, and how you wrote it was truly amazing, though I can't really agree with "ethereal beings of pure light." I can't wait to see more of your work, please continue with this because you truly are a gifted writer.

Thanks for reviewing

This style really works. The simplicity and shortness of this poem is part of its draw. Your italicized refrain adds a lot to the poem. I don't know why; I just like it.

I especially love your stanza "Your steady hand carved...." That gives me a vibrant picture of God's work. The one stanza I don't really understand is "Your touch made us ethereal being of pure light." What exactly do you mean by that? Is there any way to make your intentions clearer for those two lines?

I don't really want this poem to be much longer--it's length is just about right, although a few more stanzas wouldn't kill it. However, I think some more vivid imagery would help the poem stand out. That's why stanza two (I guess?) is my favorite, because it gives me such a beautiful image.

This is pretty good as it stands! Just wanted to let you know some of my thoughts...
