Word Wars
The pressure is mounting.
These Word Wars are daunting.
Tic tock, the clock mocks my Writer's block
My head is just another empty brain socket.
Minutes in, letter shells fly around, this one's a thriller.
But how will I ever be crowned the winner
if I take the time to write verses and rhymes?
Oh no! This war's already in its prime!
The end is nigh, the seconds fly by,
my eyes are glued to the ticking timer.
Ten, nine, eight, like it's New Year's Eve,
I'd better have a trick or two up my sleeve.
It's running out! It's just about done!

This is a great poem, especially considering it only took 15 minutes to write! It captures a word war perfectly - anyone who’s done a word war knows the pressure, the writer’s block, realising you’re running out of time and then counting down until the end.
The rhyming pattern isn’t consistent but in this poem it works really well. The words flow off the tongue and there’s actually something quite… therapeutic? about reading them, especially “Tic tock, the clock mocks my Writer’s block” (I’ll be saying that over and over in my head for the rest of the day now) and “The end is nigh, the seconds fly by”.
I can’t actually think of anything negative to say about this! *runs off to find more of your work*

Here's the link to the actual Word War where I wrote this.
It's a cute poem! Although I dom't much understand it.
Hey, look who decided to write a poem!
Em here to review 'Word Wars'. Clever title by the way- cute and I almost mistook it for World War by accident.
You have some great rhymes in here, such as:
Smart thinking.
Congratulations- a satisfied reader!! Hope you have a great night/day (whatever time it is where you live) and happy writing!!
"Tic tock, the clock mocks my Writer's block"
"If I take the time to write verses and rhymes?
Oh no! This war's already in its prime!"
For the 15 minutes you gave yourself to write, this is pretty good. No dwelling or looking up synonyms for a word, and nothing bad. It's actually kind of funny, since you're talking about writing a poem with only 15 minutes that you use to rhyme.
Though not every verse is perfect and matching, there's effort in here and I can totally picture a dramatic, deep voice reading this trying not to laugh. It's a nice poem. I'm sure the others on yws will enjoy it.
Thank you! Have a nice day yourself!
